Using Style Maker to Make Parametric Designs

Use Variables instead of Values
Variable names can be up to 6 characters in length
Variables can be Letters and Numbers but must begin with a letter

Use Multiple Menus

Menus can be of different type, i.e. Variable, Style Choice, Pre-Calculated

Use of Check Conditions & Library Functions

Use of Text Variables
Ability to copy Variables from other workspaces

Please Attend AC-18 and AC-19 for more info on Stylemaker and Adv.Stylemaker

Mathematical Statements
Order of Operation
( X+N ) Items in parentheses are evaluated first
POWER(X,N) Powers are evaluated second
X*N Multiplication
X/N Division
X+N Addition
X-N Subtraction
Examples

L>0 L is greater than 0

L<0 L is less than 0
L=0 L equals 0
L<=2 L is less than or equal to 2
L>=2 L is greater than or equal to 2
L<>2 L is not equal to 2
L=5 OR L=6 L equals 5 or L equals 6
L>0 AND L<100 L is greater than 0 and L is less than 100
L=2 NOT L=W/2 L=2 but not if W/2=2

ArtiosCAD Standards

What are Standards?

Standards are parametric (re-buildable) designs provided by ArtiosCAD
Which contains FEFCO, ECMA and ArtiosCAD Designs for corrugated,
Folding Carton and Packaging industries.
These designs are re-buildable and can be saved as a revision
More Standards have been included in ArtiosCAD version 12.0.1
www.help.esko.com has online downloadable PDF for the Style Catalogue
By giving initial values to the assigned variables of a given standard the
drawings can be created even without using any tools
Further changes can be done to a standard using the appropriate tool sets.

What Changes can we make to an Existing Standard?

Standards can be re-named to your company terminologies
Standard Defaults can be pre-set to your company Spec.
Tolerances/allowances can be changed to match your machines( flexo, diecutter etc..)
Board Grades Should be Created to match your Company Standards
(use Data-center to make your own Board Grades with appropriate
cal,il,og,crrv)

Modifying a Standard
In this exercise well create a new design from the existing ArtiosCAD
Standard and modify the formulas to match what works for you.
A good example is 2 sided rollover with ears.
Lets modify this standard and save it in the catalog as your own company
standard.

Creating New Standards from Existing ArtiosCAD

Standards

1. Select File, Run a

Standard, Corrugated,
ArtiosCAD Corrugated, 2
Sided rollover-Ears.
2. Select a Parameter set and
Board.
3. Type in a value for Length,
Width and Depth and select
OK.

Standards
When the design rebuilds, it should look something like the image below.
However, it probably doesnt match your company specs. We can use
Adv.Stylemaker to change the defaults to match what you use.

Creating New Standards from Existing ArtiosCAD

Standards
Lets see what are the changes that we can make to this standard
Flip the one-up 90 degrees to the left or the right.
Add dimensions to the existing design
Make the rollovers tighter RO2
Make the slots tighter to match the rollover SD2
Increase the tab depth to get a better lock TD2

Creating New Standards from Existing ArtiosCAD

Standards
Rotate the one-up by 90 degrees so
that the corrugation direction runs
across the rollovers.
Add the dimensions to the one-up
The added dimensions maintains the
font and the position of the
dimensions in the standard.
Re-build the standard and make
changes to the style choice menu.

Standards
Lets also change the Default
Formula for variable RO2 to
(2*IL)+CAL.

Also change the formula for

TD2 and SD2

Standards
Since we flipped the standard by
90 degrees we need to change
the preview screen as well.
So lets go ahead and create a
new diagram

Standards
In the Preview Layer you can also
add Annotation, Variable Names,
3D Diagram etc..

Standards
When you are satisfied with the changes you made in Stylemaker, save the
design in the ServerLib folder as 2 Sided rollover with ears.ARD
Select Options, Defaults.
In Shared Defaults, right click on the on the Style Catalog folder. In the
fly out select New, Folder.
Name the Folder My Company Standards.

Right click on the My Company Standards folder. In the fly out select
New, Data.
Name the Data 2 Sided rollover with ears
Close and save Defaults
