Mr. Baptiste convened the Executive Session of the Regional School District at 8:17 pm
in order to address pending litigation and introduced Attorney Monastersky, who was
hired by our insurance liability carrier, Trident, to provide legal representation to the
district with an employee-filed MCAD complaint. Mr. Baptiste said that the purpose of
the Executive Session is to discuss strategy for the pending case. He expressed that it is
paramount to him that any outcome be the best it can be for the community and the
district, keeping in mind that we need to have a diverse staff to improve the climate. Mr.
Monastersky stated that he is unsure how much support the insurance carrier is willing to
provide.
Attorney Monastersky provided an overview of the case to date and concluded his
remarks by stating that the complainants attorney requested that the district not file a
response to the MCAD complaint. One by one, members had the opportunity to express
their opinions on their perceptions of the merits of the case, understanding that mediation
is scheduled for early March and the district may be asked to settle the case with financial
compensation.
After all comments were made by the membership, Chair Baptiste said that a good result
of the mediation process will be a satisfactory end result for all parties.
By unanimous roll call vote, the Committee adjourned at 9:22 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Kathryn Mazur
