Avalanche
Extremely lightweight and lofty,
Avalanche has a generous 200
yards on each 50 g hank. With
a quick knitting gauge of 44
stitches per inch, the fabric
created with Avalanche is buttery
soft, light as a feather and a
pleasure to knit with.

Worked in the round from the neck


down, staggered leaves circle the
neck of this oversized pullover. The
remainder of the body and sleeves
are worked in simple stockinette stitch.

Pattern Stitches
Backward Loop Cast-on Method: *Wrap yarn around left thumb from front to
back and secure in palm with other fingers. Insert needle upwards through
strand on thumb. Slip loop from thumb onto RH needle, pulling yarn to
tighten. Rep from * for desired number of sts.
Cable Cast-on Method: Place a slipknot on LH needle and k1, slip new st
onto LH needle; *insert RH needle between first 2 sts on LH needle, k1 from this
position, leave the first st on LH needle and slip new st onto LH needle. Rep
from * for desired number of sts.
2 x 2 Rib in the rnd (multiple of 4 sts).
All rnds: *P1, k2, p1; rep from *
Stockinette Stitch (St st) in the rnd (Any number of sts).
All rnds: Knit.

Neck: With smaller circular needle, CO 72 (80, 88) sts by Cable Cast On
method or other elastic method. Join to work in the rnd, being careful not to
twist sts. Pm for BOR.
Work in 2 x 2 Rib for 3/4".
Work 48 rnds of Leaf chart 288 (320, 352) sts when chart is complete.
Work 1 (4, 8) rnds even.
Drop BOR marker, k9 sts and pm for new BOR (at center back). A long leaf will
be centered at the back for all sizes and centered at front for size S and XL;
Size M/L will have a shorter leaf centered at front.
Dividing rnd: K40 (47, 53) sts, sl next 64 (66, 70) sts to waste yarn for sleeve, CO
4 (5, 6) sts by backward loop method, k80 (94, 106) sts for front, sl next 64 (66,
70) sts to waste yarn for sleeve, CO 4 (5, 6) sts by backward loop method, knit
to BOR marker 168 (198, 224) sts for body.

Body
Work even in St st until body meas 13 (14, 15)" from underarm (or 1" less than
desired finished length), and dec 0 (2,0) sts on last rnd 168 (196, 224) sts.
Work in 2 x 2 Rib for 1". BO all sts loosely in rib.

Sleeves
Sl 64 (66, 70) sleeve sts from waste yarn to smaller circular needle or dpn. Beg
at center of underarm on body, join yarn and pick up 2 (2, 3) sts, k64 (66, 70)
sleeve sts, pick up 2 (3, 3) sts and pm for BOR 68 (71, 76) sts. Work 10 rnds
even in St st.
*Dec rnd: Ssk, k until 2 sts rem, k2tog 2 sts decd.
Work 7 rnds even.
Rep from * 11 times more, changing to dpn when necessary 44 (47,
52) sts.
