B. COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE COMPONENTS:

Linguistic competence component:


o Produce brief, everyday expressions in order to satisfy simple
needs of concrete types: personal and educational details,
daily routines, wants and needs, and requests for information
at home or school.

Sociolinguistic competence component:


o Perform and respond to simple language functions, such as
exchanging information and requests.

Pragmatic competence:
o Adapt and build well-rehearsed simple, memorized phrases to
particular circumstances through limited lexical substitution.

C. UNIT RATIONALE:
Unit 1 as the rest of units involves reading comprehension through
developing different reading strategies. It also focuses on simple
present, adverbs of frequency, object pronouns and talking about likes
and dislikes using love, like, dont like, hate + ing. Related to writing,
the correct use of the tenses previously learned will be applied in a
composition.
D. OVERVIEW/GOALS:
o To talk and write about free-time activities, formal and
informal greetings.
o Use the present simple, adverbs of frequency, object
pronouns and the use of certain verbs + ing.
o Learn and pronounce the /s/, /z/ and /Iz/ sounds; the /aI/
and /eI/ sounds.
