A pierre vue
A pierre vue association provides accommodation in a rural house in the
Limousin, in the heart of a countryside landscape favourable to writing and
very near the commanders residency of the temlars of Paulhac. The
association wants the residency to be a place of meeting and mediation and
facilities the creation of joint and interdisciplinary arts projects. The residency
has a special interest in works related to the Limousin and to its human and
territorial realities.

Camac
Marnay Art Centre
The Camac Association is located very close to the village of Marnay, on the
banks of the river Seine. It develops an in-residence programme with a view
to bringing artists from around the world and from all spheres together.
Residents must pay a fee of around 1100 euros to cover part of the inresidence expenses, the other part being covered by the Association.
Interdisciplinary projects with science or new technologies are encouraged.

The Camargo Foundation

Provides accommodation for composers, writers, photographers, plastic
artists, film and video makers. Also a study centre for scholars and teachers
who are working on a project related to French culture or to that of Frenchspeaking countries in human and social sciences. The foundation organises
cultural and social events to which residents are invited.

environment to artists from various spheres in an exceptional natural

Centre des Cultures & des Arts de la Carabe

(Centre for Arts and Culture in the Caribbean)
This centre, set in a former sugar refinery built in the 17 th century, in the
Martinique, is a multdisciplinary arts and sciences research pole dedicated to
Caribbean cultures. The association aims to improve the recognition of
Caribbean civilisations by creating a dialogue between arts and human
sciences in which resident artists participate. The Centre also proposes the
theme of particular oral traditions, when resulting from the melting of many
cultures. The activities organised by the centre make up a programmme that
also includes activities on cultural heritage, arts events, meetings with
professionals and in-residence artists.

This centre aims to promote and facilitate the circulation of contemporary
poetry and literature and works at connecting writing, plastic arts and music.
In an effort to make its residents works known, the association organises
public readings and publishes resident authors texts in the Cahiers du Refuge
which is then added to the Collection du Refuge (six titles per year). The
CIPM also publishes a critics journal, the Cahier Critique de Posie, twice a
year.

With a view to supporting literary creation by offering an ideal context to

CITL Collge International des Traducteurs Littraires

(International College for Literary Translators)
This college in Arles and the ATLAS association provide accommodation in
the former hospital where Vincent Van Gogh was committed from 1889. CITL
and ATLAS give support to French and foreign translators, regardless of the
genre they are working on poetry, novels or theatre by setting up the
Assises de la traduction littraire in Arles every November. The ATLAS
association also publishes books to promote literary translation and to defend
the status of translators.

Les Camiers is a traditional fortified house in the middle of a cultivated
estate covering thirty hectares in the hear of the Parc Naturel Rgional du
Pilat. The association benefits from the support of the DRAC Rhne Alpes,
the Rhne Alpes and Loire regional authorities, and is chaired by the Dean of
the Faculty of Anthropology and Sociology of Lyon-II University. This
association serves first and foremost as an artistic and cultural in-residence
centre, a place for reflection, production and training. Every year between
June and August LEt des Camiers lets in around two thousand visitors to
present a show uniting dance, music, cinema and fine arts.

In keeping with the famous painter's ideal community, the Albert-Gleizes
Foundation, in Sablons, develops an in-residence programme which is
reserved for visual arts artists every summer and open to artists from all
spheres the rest of the year. Set in a boatmans house on the banks of the
Rhne river, the Foundation, which receives support from the regional
authorities and DRAC, provides accommodation facilities for five people, an
exhibition hall and a library. The place, due to its location and its privileged
setting is ideal for arts reflection and creation.

French Ministry of Culture: Residency Grants for Writers

This grant programme is meant to support writers who wish to work on their
project within the framework of a literary programme, drawn up in
collaboration with the organisation offering the residency. These grants are
available to published, non-French writers. They must either write in or
be translated into French. In addition, their manuscript must be
published and/or be professionally represented. The residency must be
the subject of an agreement between the welcoming structure and the writer,
and concern a limited number of structures.
Sponsor : Centre National du Livre (CNL) and welcoming institutions
Conditions
Place of residency or training: various structures (festivals, local authorities)
who have agreements with foreign writers
Length of grant: 2 to 4 months (12 months maximum)

French Ministry of Culture: Residency Grants for Foreign Translators

This grant programme is for translators living abroad who wish to stay in
France while working on a translation of a French work into another
language. Candidates must have previously published a translation, and the
translation project they submit must be the subject of a contract with a
publishing house in their country of origin. All genres are eligible: literature,
poetry, theater, children's literature, humanities, sociology and science.
Projects to translate works in the public domain may also be submitted.
Grant recipients can submit a new application after a period of three years.

facilities such the Collge International des Traducteurs Littraires in Arles

Enlightenment, is located in the old 18 th century salt works and hosts classes
on historic monuments and architecture colleges. It develops an in-residence
programme for artists from all spheres as well as for research workers and

century and following centuries or on any other project.

La fraternelle
(Brotherhood)
The association La fraternelle aims at renovating the Maison du peuple
(Peoples House) in Saint-Claude, a small town in upper Jura. This building,
which is in the complementary list of historic monuments, is a former food cooperative, created in 1881 by the Cercle ouvrier (Working Society) of SaintClaude. It now hosts, in a movie complex consisting of three auditoriums, a
plastic and graphic arts workshop and a gallery, as well as an amateur theatre
company, a famous jazz club, as well as a resource centre on the cooperative
labour movement of higher Jura and a cafe. Finally, the association provides
in-residence arrangements for poets, playwrights and research workers.

La Maison des Ecritures remains true to its name and has started to develop
an author-in-residence programme in Neuvy-le-Roi, in between the Loire and
the Loire valley.
Apart from providing accommodation and granting
allowances, the association, which benefits from the support of the librairies of
the department, also provides the opportunity for resident authors to meet
artists and other authors on a regular basis.

La Maison Verte
(The Green House)
Built in 1830 in the vine-growing village of Roujan, La Maison Verte is a
place of abode for holidaymakers and a space for creation at the same time,
in that its residents hold creative writing workshops. Amateur artists anxious
to work in a calm environment are usually accommodated also. It provides a
workshop for painters, sculpters, musicians and actors, hosts seminars and
conferences, and can even accommodate public performances for an
audience of 150 persons.

(The Merry-go-round)
Le Mange, Scne Nationale (National Theatre) provides a creative writing
workshop. One of the last projects of this workshop Ecrire ma ville (Writing
my town) led to the remaking of a whole city (La Roche-sur-Yon), through the
filter of dreams and arts, by its inhabitants and professional authors. Resident

(Ands Mill Cinematographical Screenplay-writing Centre)

Listed as an historic monument, Le Moulin dAnd, probably built in the 13 th

century on a branch of the Seine, in Normandy, became in 1962 the office of
an arts association developing an in-residence programme for film makers,
actors, writers, musicians and plastic artists. Since 1998, the building hosts in
the Centre des critures cinmatographiques (Cci) which provides
accommodation for producers of short and feature films. They get board and
lodging and are coached on writing by professionals. They also get the
chance to participate in concerts, performances and festivals.

Maison Louis-Guilloux

Provides accommodation in the house where the author of Sang noir was
born in Saint-Brieuc, for novelists, poets and writers of young people's
literature as well as researchers. With the support of the Municipality, the
