Intern Dentist

Eligibility Criteria

In determining the eligibility of an applicant for licensing with the Dubai Health Authority
(DHA) as Intern Dentist (ID), the applicant shall comply with the following requirements:
1.1

UAE Nationals
Graduates from an approved Dental School recognized by UAE Ministry of
Higher Education & Scientific Research (MOHE&SR) and completing additional
internship requirements as listed below.
1.2 Expatriate
Graduates from an approved Dental School inside UAE and recognized by UAE
Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research (MOHE&SR)

2. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

2.1 Applicants shall provide copies of the following:


2.1.1 Evidence of successful completion of an approved dental education program
2.1.2 Dental education program transcript the applicant shall provide a full
transcript clearly stating the breakdown of theory vs. clinical training hours
2.1.3 Certificate of enrolment in an approved dental internship program recognized
by MOHE&SR or DHA
2.1.4 Passport copy
2.1.5 One (1) colour photograph
Please note that additional documents may be asked by Health Regulation Department
(HRD) to justify the application for licensure and registration.
3. ASSESSMENT
Applicants for Interns Dentist will not be required to attend and pass an assessment of their
competency to practice dentistry in Dubai
4.

Conditions for Issuing a DHA License


4.1 Applicant must work only in the following facilities:
4.1.1. Governmental Hospital
4.1.2. Governmental Dental Centres
4.1.3. Dental universities (not less than 20 dental chairs)

4.1.4. Dental educational centres in the private sector approved by MOHE&SR and
DHA
4.2 Intern Dentist license shall not be renewed
4.3 Malpractice Insurance
4.3.1 Evidence of malpractice insurance is required for all approved applications
before issuing the license.

The Health Regulation Department will carry out Primary Source Verification (PSV)
Applicants who knowingly submit falsified documents will be liable for prosecution as per
UAE Federal Law. This would also include an automatic termination of the licensure
process and/or revocation of licensure if already issued by DHA
