specific details regarding the course.
Course No : CHEM F366/ F367
Course Title : Laboratory Project
Instructor-in-charge : Tincy Thomas
1. Scope and Objective of the course:
The course is specially designed to provide an opportunity to the students for development of their independent
thinking, ability to involve in a focused study of a specific area, laboratory skills, report writing and
presentation skills which will provide them a platform for the future higher academic activities. As a part of the
curriculum this project course is centered on the day-to-day involvement of the student in the laboratory
activities in the proposed area of work under the supervision of his/her instructor. The evaluation will recognize
this aspect by demanding continuous assessment of the involvement and punctuality of the student.
2. Plan of Work:
The plan of work for each student will be decided by the respective Instructor. Each student should adhere to
the plan of work.

* Student is supposed to write a one or two page write up about the project with proper references.

4. Mid-semester grading:
Mid-semester grades will be announced by the respective instructor to their students once the mid- semester
evaluation is over as per the time frame given above.
5. Grading Procedure:
Grading will be done on the basis of the progress made towards the achievements of the projects objectives and
will recognize that each instructor has given specific task situation in which the student participates in a
cognitive manner. Thus each Instructor will recommend a grade for his student on the basis of marks obtained
for the consideration of the Instructor-in-charge. In a specialized course of this nature the respective Instructor's
assessment of the student vis-a-vis the objective of the project would be the central criteria for arriving at final
grade. It is also recommended that for the final seminar and evaluation at least one other faculty member from
the department be present.

6. General:
It is the student's responsibility to ensure:
A. Continuous interaction with the Instructor
B. Adherence to the plan of work
C. Submission of reports on/before due date

8. Project Reports:
A soft copy of the project report should be submitted to your Instructor (project guide).
