TheAG150andAG250Powershiftgearboxcompriseforwardandrearhousingscontainingseven
shaftsandnineclutches.Sixspeedclutchesandthreerangeclutches.Threeclutchesmustbe
hydraulicallyengagedinordertotransmitenginepower.Thesetransmissionsarefittedwiththeir
ownGerotorhydraulicpump,filter,pressureregulatingvalve,lubricatingmeteringvalveandnine
proportionalsolenoidvalvestoengagetheclutches.Thesetransmissionsuseanoiltankthatis
commontothegearboxandaxleassembly.Thegearboxiscoupledtotheengineviaasplined
couplingshaftsituatedinthetransmissionandadamperlocatedontheengineflywheel.
TheAG150andAG250Powershiftgearboxhavethefollowingcharacteristics:

Theenginepoweristransmittedtothe1ststageshaftthatdrivestheshaftsofthe2nd,3rdand4th
stages.The1ststageshaftalsodrivestheGerotorhydraulicpumpforthegearboxandactsasthe
PTOinputshaft.Theshaftsofthe2ndand4thstagesactasforwardspeedswiththevariousratios
ofinputspeed,whiletheshaftofthe3rdstageactsasreversewithasingleinputspeedratio.

Thisallowstoobtainforwardandreversespeeds.Whenclutch1,2orRisengaged,itlocksthe
clutchhousingtothecorrespondingshaft.Eachclutchhousingisfittedwithapinionthatmeshes
withtheothershafts(allhavingthesameratio),permittingthepowertoenterviaaclutch(1,2or
R)andtoexitviaanotherclutch(A,BorC)andanothershaft.

Thevariousclutchessupplysixforwardratiosandthreereverseratiostothetransmission,in
accordancewiththeinputclutches(1,2orR)oroutputclutches(A,BorC)selected.Theoutput
fromspeedclutchesdirectsthepowertotheclutchoftheselectedrange(L,MorH),thusproviding
18forwardspeedsand8reversespeeds.IntheNorthAmericanmarket,theelectroniccontroldoes
notpermittheengagingofthetwohighestspeeds.Otherinternationalmarketsmayauthorisethese
reversespeedsinrelationtothelegislationinforceintheircountries.
