Existe la forma "each other" que no es reflexiva sino que es una forma recproca. A diferencia
etc...
Nunca puede haber ms de dos personas.
Ejemplo: John and Peter spoke to each other on the trip.
Los pronombres en ingls distinguen entre masculino (he), femenino (she) y neutro (it), tal y
Personal Pronouns / Pronombres personales

1. What is its name? (Cmo se llama?)
2. What time is it? (Qu hora es?)
3. Whats the weather like? Its raining (Qu tiempo hace?, est lloviendo)

3. Singular y all:

4. Plural y all:

Uncontables / Incontables
Ejemplos: salt, wood, tea, wine, sugar, oxygen, advice, bread, furniture, hair, information, money, news,
acompaan nombres o sustantivos contables.
Ejemplo: She wants to find a new job (Ella quiere encontrar un trabajo nuevo)
Significa algunos.
The ballons still have some air inside them (los globos todava tienen aire dentro).
Excepciones:
Ejemplos:
There are no books left on the shelf (No quedan libros en la estantera)
Ive got no Money left (no me queda dinero).
None
Ejemplos:
She would like something to eat (Le gustara comer algo (a ella))
Ejemplo frase negativa:
Nothing
Tiene el mismo significado que anything. Pero nothing se utiliza nicamente para cosas. Gramaticalmente
Compara:
There is nothing I can do to help you (no puedo hacer nada para ayudarte)
There isnt anything I can do to help you (no puedo hacer nada para ayudarte)
Somebody, Anybody
Lo utlizamos para referirnos a personas. Significa alguien o alguna persona. Tambin podemos decir
someone. La diferencia es estilstica y no semntica. Su forma negativa es anybody. Para frases negativas
tanto en afirmacin como interrogacin utilizaremos anybody.
Ejemplo frase afirmativa:
Somebody could give him a hand (alguien le podra echar una mano)
Ejemplo frase negativa:
Are you talking to anybody at the moment? (Ests hablando con alguien en este momento?)
Someone, Anyone, No-one, Nobody
Someone
Significa lo mismo que somebody. La diferencia es estilstica. Depender del hablante en el momento de
conversar.
Anyone
Ejemplo:
They didnt meet anyone at the station (no quedaron con nadie en la estacin)
No-one
Ejemplo: Who is smoking? No-one (Quin est fumando? Nadie)
Nobody
momento.
Ejemplo: Nobody came to the party (No vino nadie a la fiesta)
My jeans are somewhere in my bedroom (mis tejanos estn por algn lado en mi cuarto)
Nowhere
the tall professor
a seven-year-old child
El ingls tiene ocho clases de adjetivos:
Clases de adjetivos:
1. Calificativos: fat, red, nice...
2. Demostrativos: this, that, these, those
3. Distributivos: each, every, either, neither
4. Cuantitativos: some ,any, many...
5. Interrogativos: which?, what? ...
6. Posesivos: my, your...
7. Propios: English, Spanish
8. Numerales: one, four, first, second...
fast --> rpido, rpida, rpidos, rpidas
this pencil (este lpiz)
these pencils (estos lpices)
many books (muchos libros)
Los adjetivos cualificativos - The descriptive adjectives
It's a dark street
It's getting old
El adjetivo se situa antes del nombre o despus de un grupo de verbos (appear, be, become, feel, get, look,
seem, smell, stay, taste)
My sister is beautiful
She looks tired
It's getting dark
Podemos usar dos o ms adjetivos juntos:
a small black book
a
a
a
a
opinin /valor
tamao y longitud
edad / temperatura
forma y superficie
color
origen
material
uso
electric, political
nombre
bath (towel)
Los verbos to be y have got no necesitan ninguna partcula adicional para hacer preguntas o negaciones.
Ejemplo con To be
Frase afirmativa: I am tired / I'm tired (Estoy cansado)
Frase negativa: I am not tired / I'm not tired (No estoy cansado)
Frase interrogativa: Am I tired? (estoy cansado?)
Ejemplo con Have got
Frase afirmativa: They have got a car / They've got a car (Tienen un coche)
Frase negativa: They have not got a car / They haven't got a car (No tienen un coche)
Frase interrogativa: Have they got a car?
interrogativas o frases negativas.
Ejemplo con Have
Frase afirmativa: I have a car (Tengo un coche)
Frase negativa: I do not have a car / I don't have a car (No tengo un coche)
Frase interrogativa: Do I have a car? (Tengo un coche?)
Otros verbos
Frase afirmativa: You dance every day (Bailas cada da)
Frase negativa: You do not dance every day / You don't dance every day (No bailas cada da)
Frase interrogativa: Do you dance every dance?
Si en lugar de decir "They haven't got a car" decimos "They have not got a car" lo que estaramos haciendo
Formas Cortas - Formas Contractas - Short Forms
Algunas conjugaciones pueden contraerse cuando van detrs de pronombres como I, you, he...
I am --> I'm
Tambin las podemos usar detrs de nombres.
Susan has had a baby --> Susan's had a baby

PRONOMBRES RELATIVOS
Los Pronombres Relativos son WHO, WHICH, THAT que se emplean para introducir
clusulas independientes.
Ejemplo:
I tipped the waiter who (that) served us.
We thanked the people that (who) helped us.
En estos dos ejemplos That y Who son intercambiables, pero es mucho mejor usar
Who para las personas y That en relacin a cosas. En cambio Which se emplea
nicamente para cosas.
Ejemplo:
The car which we rented doesnt work.

QUESTION TAGS
Your brother is older than you, isn't he?
(Tu hermano es mayor que t, no es as?)
You can help me, can't you?
(Puedes ayudarme, verdad?)
contrario. Si no tuviera auxiliar entonces utilizaramos el auxiliar to do.
He doesn't like Susan, does he?
He likes Susan, doesn't he?
He is getting married, isn't he?
He isn't getting married, is he?
You worked yesterday, didn't you?
He likes Susan. (Le gusta Susan)
Doesn't he?

- You are going to get a cold (Vas a coger un resfriado)
En algunas ocasiones podemos utilizar el futuro con will o el futuro con going to para hacer predicciones
indistintamente.
Ejemplo:
- He will fail the examen (l suspender el examen) --> Aqu tenemos un gran certeza que el va a
suspender. Aqu intervienen opiniones personales subjetivas.
- He is going to fail the exam (El va a suspender el examen).
- I'm going to write some letters this evening.
- Microsoft is going to launch a new product.
- I'm going to have a year off. (Voy a tomarme un ao sabtico.)
- He is going to work in a restaurant in Paris.

two hours, for five minutes, since yesterday...
Ejemplo 1 :
I'm very angry. I have been waiting for two hours!
sera estar enfadados.
Ejemplo 2:
I have been working on this issue since the morning. -now I'm still working on it(He estado trabajando en este asunto desde la maana -ahora todava estoy trabajando en l-)
Ejemplo 3:
I'm tired because I have been dancing all the day.
estamos cansados ahora.
Ejemplo 4:
It has been raining all the week.
Ejemplo 5:
I think she has been crying.
Ejemplo 6:
They've been living here since I was young.
been working here since I was eighteen.
promise, say, tell, suggest...
En el ejemplo anterior podramos decir: She said that she always drink
coffee.

Reported speech
Since: Since significa desde y lo usamos para especificar un momento determinado en el tiempo: last night,
yesterday, the second world war...
Ejemplo: My mother had been a teacher since 1955.
Ejemplo: She had just gone out. (Se acababa de ir)
Alrady: Es muy parecido a just en cuanto a que ocupa la misma posicin entre el verbo have y el participio,
pero su significado es "ya".
Ejemplo: I had already seen that film.
Ejemplo: She hadn't seen your brother yet. (Ella todava no haba visto a tu hermano)
Verb Tenses: Past Perfect continuous
Gramatical Structure / Estructura Gramatical (example with verb to sleep)
Afirmative clause / Frase afirmativa
Sujeto + had been+ verbo en gerundio --> I had been sleeping (Yo haba estado durmiendo)
Negative clause / Frase negativa
Sujeto + had + not + been + verbo en gerundio -->I had not been sleeping (Yo no haba estado durmiendo)
Interrogative clause/ Frase interrogativa
Had + sujeto +been + verbo en gerundio--> Had I been sleeping? (Haba estado yo durmiendo?)
Por ejemplo: two weeks, during two
hours, for five years, since yesterday.
Ejemplo:
I was very angry. I had been waiting for two hours!
Ejemplo:
- We had been waiting for hours when the train finally arrived.
- We had been thinking about how to change our plan
( Habamos estado pensando en cmo cambiar nuestro plan)

c) una preposicin:
He's lived here since 1983.
Comparemos:
They've worked here for five years.
Han trabajado aqu por cinco aos. (An lo hacen.)
They worked here for five years.
Trabajaron aqu por cinco aos. (No lo hacen ms.)
They are here for five years.
No
- Have you passed your English examination?
- Ha aprobado su examen de Ingls? (Dependiendo del contexto, esto
puede significar: en cualquier momento, hasta ahora.)
- Yes, I passed when I was 20.
- Si, lo aprob cuando tena 20 aos. (Pasado simple: referencia exacta
de tiempo.
- The computer has been repaired.
- La computadora se ha reparado. (Dependiendo del contexto, puede
significar 'hoy' o 'recientemente' o 'al fin!'.)
- It was repaired by Mr. Johnson who fixed it.
reciente:
1) just: They have just found the diskettes.
Han encontrado recin los discos flexibles.
2) recently: The System Analyst's recently arrived from B.A.

verbo base (infinitivo sin to).

ORACIONES CONDICIONALES
palabra introductoria ms utilizada es if.
If Ive got enough money next month, Ill change to that Internet
service provider.
If she received my mail its surprising she isnt here yet.
If you had updated your antivirus, you wouldnt have lost all
those executable files.
Si hubieras actualizado tu antivirus, no habras perdido todos
esos archivos ejecutables.
If we had another twenty minutes, we could quickly download the
MP3 file.
Si tuviramos otros veinte minutos, podramos descargar
rpidamente el archivo MP3.
If a backup had been made a day earlier it might have saved us
from all this mess.
If you should run into the trainee programmer, tell him he owes me
an executable.
IF WERE TO
sugestin
sea
ms
dubitativa.
Es
el
equivalente
a
llegara/llegaras/llegramos/llegaran a + infinitivo del castellano.
What would you do if the modem were to go out of service? (if the
modem went out of)
servicio.)
If they were to move the PC a bit to the right we could put the
printer on the desk. (If they moved his PC
IF CON HAPPEN TO
If you happen to pass a computers supplies shop, find out how much
is a CD ROM.
IF ONLY
OMISION DE IF
CONVERSACIONAL
You modify any of my files, Ill delete yours. (If you modify)
You modify any of my files and Ill delete yours.
12- But for your help, we would have been in a difficult situation. (Si no
13- If you had deleted some lines by mistake, youd recover them by
using this command.
14- Provided the situation goes on like that, you dont have to worry.
15- I brought an extra CD ROM. Just in case.
BOLILLA 2.
Oraciones condicionales: condiciones probables, improbables e
imposibles.
2.1 Nexos (if, unless, provides, but for, etc.)
2.2 Supresin de nexo. (28.25)
(Manual de GRAMATICA INGLESA comparada. 3.40)
Los auxiliares para formar el condicionales son should y would. Si
tomamos como ejemplo el verbo to go, el condicional se construye de la
siguiente forma:
(I/we should go (d go)
you/he/she/it/they would go (d go)
- He says hell accept the post provided (on condition that) the salary is
satisfactory.
salario sea satisfactorio.
- Provided the situation goes on like that, you dont have to worry. (Si la
situacin sigue as, no tens que preocuparte.)
- We couldnt have done it but for him. (No podramos haberlo hecho si no
fuera por l.)
- But for your help, we would have been in a difficult situation. Sin tu
ayuda, habramos estado en una difcil situacin.
El presente del condicional se emplea con las expresiones I wish e if only
para expresar un deseo. Es lo que en castellano diramos Ojal.
- I wish (if only) it would rain (Ojal lloviera)
- I wish (if only) the rain would stop (Ojal cesara la lluvia)
- I wish (if only) he would come tomorrow (Ojal venga maana)
A veces if only no se puede traducir como ojal, es cuando detrs va otra
oracin consecuencia de la primera.
- If only I had more money, I could buy some new hardware.
- If only we can finish the whole process before midnaight, well be all right.
