Big Data Info Retrieval And Representation In Telcos By TM R&D

TM Research & Development (TM R&D) organized the 5th
Big Data in Telecommunication in conjunction with Big
Data Week Kuala Lumpur 2014.
Big Data Analytics in Malaysia is emerging as datasets are
becoming so large and complex that it becomes difficult
to process using conventional database management
tools or traditional data processing applications. Thus,

TM R&D has taken this challenge to lead the big data

trend in Malaysia.
The objective of this gathering was to provide exposure
and detailed explanation on Big Data technology from a
telcos viewpoint and to support the Big Data Week.
The event saw five key speakers share their insights on
respective expertise related to the Big Data Information

Retrieval and Representation in the Telco Domain

theme.

33

Large-Scale File Systems For Big Data Analytics By SNIA

In this event, the topics covered were:

1) Massive scale file system for Big Data Analytics - SNIA Malaysia

2) Converged systems/Software Defined Storage for Big Data - Nutanix

3) Object filesystem - HDS

The crowd found the topics revolving around storage interesting because it was never presented the way it
should be appreciated. Based on the interactive conversations, there is much interest leading towards
requirements and advisory services. And this Big Data Week is a good platform to inject many opportunities
toward the storage networking industry.
