INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the environmental problems in Kulim HiTech Park and in addition to improve the environment.

1.1-Background of the study

The Kulim Hi-Tech Park(KHTP)was officially opened in 1996 is the first high
technology industrial park in Malaysia.The park is situated in Kulim,Kedah Darul
Aman which is in the North-West of Peninsular Malaysia and comprises total land
area of approximately 1,700 hectares.The park is strategically located about 27
kilometers from the North-Butterworth Container Terminal(NBTC).Kulim HiTech Park is developed and managed by Kulim Technology Park
Corporation(KTPC)a member of International Association of Science park(IASP).
One of the primary aims of the Kulim Hi-Tech Park is to propel the country
towards realizing the goals of the vision 2020.The park is envisioned by Kulim
Technology Park Corporation(KTPC)to be the Science City of The Future.

1.2-Problem statement
Kulim Hi-Tech Park is located near to the residential area.Therefore,it has caused
a lot of environmental problems around the area.
1.3-Authorization
The report was requested by Mr.Murugesan,our lecturer for Business Report
Writing.The report need to be submitted on 27 August 2009.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the environmental problems in Kulim HiTech Park.
3.0-

SCOPE OF WORK

3.1-Areas to be evaluated
Kulim Hi-Tech Park
3.1.1-Location
A study will be made to determine whether the location is suitable for
industrial activities.
3.1.2-Air pollution
A study will be made to determine whether the air in the Kulim Hi-Tech
Park has been polluted by the factories which are located near the area.
3.1.3-Traffic Jam
A study will be made to determine the traffic jam problems in Kulim HiTech Park.
3.1.4-Foreign worker
A study will be made to determine whether the foreign workers who are
employed by the factory have caused problems to the residents around the
Kulim Hi-Tech Park housing area.
3.2-Criteria used for selection of areas/factors(Discuss)
The reason for choosing this four scope to be investigate is to determine the
problems that the residents in Kulim Hi- Tech Park has been facing every single
day.

SOURSE OF INFORMATION AND METHODOLOGY USED

4.1-Primary Source
In this report,the primary sources that we used to collect information are
questionnaire and interview.
4.1.1-Questionaire Survey
The questionnaire consist of 14 questions and it will be answered
by 50 respondents.The questionaire will be given/distribute to the
people who stay near to the Kulim Hi-Tech Park area.
4.1.1.1-Population to be studied
The population of this survey is the residents who stay
near to the Kulim Hi-Tech Park housing area.
4.1.1.2-Sample size

50 sets of questionaire will be distributed to the residents

who are stayed near to the Kulim Hi-Tech Park housing
area.
4.1.2-Interview
We will have a face-to-face interview with the local people who stay and
also with the people who work in the Kulim Hi-Tech Park area.
4.1.3-Observation
The questionaire will be distributed to the respondents who are residents
who stay near by the Kulim Hi-Tech Park.
4.2-Secondary Source
Secondary data are the data obtained from published material,electronic data and
other resources to get the information about the Kulim Hi-Tech Park.

4.2.2-Electronic Media(Internet/Web Sites,etc)

In this report,the secondary source that we used to collect information are
through internet.
