Programme

Malaysia My Second Home Programme is


promoted by the Government of Malaysia to allow
foreigners who fulfill certain criteria, to stay in
Malaysia for as long as possible on a multipleentry social visit pass.

MM2H Eligibility
It is open to citizens of countries recognised by
Malaysia, regardless of race, religion, gender or
age.
The programme allows applicants to bring with
them their spouses, parents above the age of 60 and
unmarried children below age of 21 as dependants.
Foreign spouses of Malaysians and expatriates
who wish to retire in Malaysia after expiry of their
Employment Passes are also eligible to apply to
stay in Malaysia on this programme.

Validity of Visa
You will get a 10-year Visit Pass and
Multiple-Entry Visa (renewable every
ten years) which will eventually give
you a lifetime easy access to the
country (perpetual visa).

provided that the LGC issued by the Embassy has made a
reference to the respective police authority and the LGC must be
attested by the Embassy)
Certified copy of Marriage Certificate ( if accompanied by
spouse )
Certified copy of Birth Certificate/legal documents ( if
accompanied by children/adopted children/step children/parents )
Letter of Confirmation from Medical Specialist/General
Practitioner (if accompanied by disabled children above 21 years
old)

Statutory Declaration by principle applicant to bear all


expenses and financial requirements during the stay in
Malaysia for dependents
Certified copy (s) of latest 3 months bank statement /other
related financial document (s) to indicate the financial
capability to support stay in Malaysia
Latest 3 months certified copies of pay slip / income
statement ( If employed)/ pension slip etc
A valid Medical Insurance in Malaysia
A Certified Medical Report from a local doctor / specialist
or Self declaration on your/dependents health conditions

A Personal Bond (rate per person by nationality)

Important Notes
All copies must be certified TRUE COPIES OF
ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS by EMBASSY /HIGH
COMMISSION / SOLICITOR/ JUSTICE OF PEACE /
NOTARY PUBLIC / COMMISIONER FOR OATHS /
GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL.
Where original documents are not in English, translation
must be done by a qualified translator.
The Security Bond per person can be in the form of cash,
bank draft or money order, made payable to the "KETUA
PENGARAH IMIGRESEN MALAYSIA ". The Security
Bond must be stamped (RM 10.00) by The Stamping Office
at the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia.
The amount chargeable is according to Country of Origin
of the participant; refer to Rate of Security Bond/Personal
Bond by Country.

Various Incentives
House Purchase
Any foreigner may purchase any number of residential
property in Malaysia, subject to the minimum rates
established for foreigners by the different states. They start
from RM500,000 per unit for most states, from 1st January
2010. Land is a state matter and it is important to check state
laws before making any commitment, as the minimum
purchase price is not standardised between states.

Domestic Helper
Each applicant is allowed to apply for one maid subject to
the prevailing guidelines of the Immigration Department of
Malaysia.

Freedom to travel
There is no minimum stay requirement. You are free to enter
and leave the country anytime

Car Purchase
Each participant is allowed to bring in his/her own personal car
OR to purchase a locally-assembled car without the need to pay
import duty, excise duty and sales tax.
Application to IMPORT a motorcar from the participants
country of citizenship/last domicile must be forwarded to the
Ministry of Finance within a period of six months from the
endorsement date of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) social
visit pass. The condition for such importation is that the MM2H
participant should be the owner of the motorcar prior to obtaining
the MM2H visa, as evidenced in the motorcar registration
document.
An Application to PURCHASE a new motorcar made or
assembled in Malaysia must be must be forwarded to the
Ministry of Finance within a period of one year from the
endorsement date of Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) social
visit pass.

Education
Applicants are allowed to bring their children who under 21
years old and not married as their dependants under this
programme.
Children who intend to continue their schooling in Malaysia are
required to apply for a Student Pass and should be insured
throughout their stay under this programme.

Tax
Participants are bound by the policies, systems and regulations
of taxes of this country and they do not have exemption
qualifications as granted to Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia.
However, tax exemption is given to pension remitted into
Malaysia. Participants are required to obtain the endorsement
from the Authorities in their country of origin as to the total
amount of yearly pension received. A copy of this letter has to be
submitted in their application.

Business & Investment


MM2H participants are allowed to invest and actively
participate in business by registered your business with the
Companies Commission of Malaysia (CCM) under the
Companies Act 1965, subject to existing Government
policies, regulations and guidelines which are in force for the
relevant sectors business
There are more investment opportunities where you can get
the advice from Malaysia Industrial Development Authority
(MIDA).

Employment Opportunities
Employment is permitted only after obtaining a work
permit from the Government of Malaysia and is usually
granted only to person with special skills.
Part-time Work - Allowed for those in the 50 years &
above and Not more than 20 hours per week (subject to
terms and conditions )

Citizenship
You still retain your citizenship and all its privileges in your
own country

How to Apply ?
Step 1 : Pre Submission
Applicants to submit all the necessary documents to Authorized Agents.
Agents will help to summarize and vet all documents and ensure all
required documents are completed and correct as per the latest ruling prior
to submission which is very important.
Step 2 : Submit application to MM2H Centre through appointed agent.
Submission of complete application documents to the authorities together
with the authorized agents Personal Bond signed with Malaysia
Government for the applicants as SPONSOR and the sponsors
recommendation letter.

Step 3 : Approval
The documents will be process and approve by a Central Committee
(usually once a month). The Conditional Approval Letter shall be issued
by Malaysian Immigration Department about 2 months from the date of
submission of complete documents.
Step 4 : Applicant come to Malaysia. (After receiving the Conditional
approval Letter)
Open the required Fixed Deposit account in any bank in Malaysia for
one year period on an auto renewal basis
Purchase Medical Insurance in any insurance company in Malaysia and
summit Medical Insurance that is applicable in Malaysia.
Obtain medical report from any private hospital or registered clinic in
Malaysia within 6 months from the date of Conditional Approval Letter
Fullfill Security Bond requirement.

Step 5 : Submit remaining documents to the Immigration Unit,


MM2H Centre.
Step 6 : Visa & Pass Endorsement
Applicant collects The Malaysia My Second Home Visa Social Visit
Pass fee (RM 90/year)
Social Visit Pass will be given according to the validity of the
passport (maximum 10 years).

Important Note
Any documents that are not in English, must be translated in English
and be certified by relevant authorities i.e. Notary Public, Foreign
Ministry or Commissioner of Oaths

Extension of Visa
Applies to those who did not receive the full duration of the 10 years Visa
because of short validity period of their passport at the time of approval
and would like to receive the remaining period upon the issuance of a new
Passport.
The Applicant must appear in person at the Immigration Department of
Malaysia.
The Applicant should bring the following documents and payment:
a. Old and New Passport
b. Photocopy of the New Passport
c. IM 12 form
d. Payment of RM 90 per year for the Social Visit Pass, payable to the
Immigration Department
e. Copy of FD Certificate

Termination As Participant
The Applicant should forward the following documents to the Malaysia My
Second Home Centre:
a. Letter of intention to terminate stay in Malaysia under this Programme
b. Authorize Letter to Withdraw Fixed Deposit from Ministry of Tourism
Malaysia
c. Original Passport
d. Original & Copy of Flight Ticket
e. I-Card (if applicable)
The letter of termination will be issued to applicant within 3 day from the date
of submission.
Applicant must be present in person at Immigration Department / State
Immigration office to cancel the Social Visit Pass under the MM2H
Programme.
Applicant may proceed to relevant bank to withdraw the remaining fixed
deposit (if applicable) after canceling the Social Visit Pass.

Renewal
The Applicant must be present in person at the Immigration Department of
Malaysia or State Immigration Department which issued the initial approval.
The Applicant should bring the following documents and payment:
a. Letter of intention to continue the Programme
b. Original & Photocopy of Applicants Passport
c. IMM. 55
d. IMM. 38 (if applicable)
e. Payment of RM 90 per year for the Social Visit Pass, payable to the
Immigration Department
f. Original & Copy of Fixed Deposit (if applicable)
g. Current proof of Monthly Offshore Income (if applicable)
h. Original & Copy of Health Insurance
i. Original & Copy of Confirmation Letter from Bank (if applicable)
j. Original & Copy of Conditional Approval Letter
Provide security bond if for renewal done personally
