Definition/Description
An ankle fracture is a fracture in a bone that shapes the ankle. This can be the end of
the fibula (malleolus lateralis), the end of the tibia (malleolus medialis) or both
(bimalleolar fracture). They usually result from an external rotation injury to the
ankle.
