All mobiles have been fitted with a fob-operated door entry system. This replaces the keypad previously used on the original mobile. The school grounds and mobiles are covered by CCTV. The mobiles are connected to the school office by phone / walkie-talkie. This enables staff to communicate to share e.g. Pupil absence information.

Dear P4 and P5 Parents Mobile classroom security arrangements Im aware that some parents are anxious about their child being in a mobile classroom, particularly in relation to security. I thought it would therefore be helpful to share the systems we have in place to address these concerns: All mobiles have been fitted with a fob-operated door entry system. This replaces the keypad previously used on the original mobile. Entry access is restricted to authorised staff only. The door entry system also includes an intercom button. This is linked to handsets within each classroom so teachers can speak to whoever is at the door without leaving their room. The school grounds and mobiles are covered by CCTV and this is monitored by the janitors and management. The mobiles are connected to the school office by phone/walkie-talkie. This enables staff to communicate to share e.g. pupil absence information. (Walkie-talkies are only in use at the moment until the telephones are installed.) Children are not permitted to go to/from the mobiles without supervision. The phone/walkie-talkie system is used to inform the office/the class teacher that a child needs to transfer between buildings. e.g. the clerical will phone the class teacher to inform her that a child has arrived late and will be coming across. She will take the child to the rear door and will watch the child walk over to the mobile. The class teacher, having been alerted that the child is coming, will be watching from their mobile to receive them and let them in. We have a dedicated first aider on duty each day. They carry a walkie-talkie and are alerted of any need. Should a child in the mobiles require attention the child will either be sent over to the main building (using the system previously described) or the first aider will go to them. In wet weather it may be necessary to keep the children indoors over breaks. P4B will move to the neighbouring P4 mobile and will join their other P4 classes. We will have one member of staff in the P4 mobile and another in the P5 mobile to supervise. Each mobile has their own pack lunch trolley. This is taken over to the dining room first thing in the morning. This is the same system as for the rest of the school. Should the weather be bad, the lunch trollies will be kept in the mobiles and pack lunches will be eaten in their classroom. This system worked well for the classes involved last year. (Supervision is as per the wet weather procedures.) The gate into the senior playground from the back path is very close to the mobiles. This gate will be locked during the pupil day. It will be re-opened for the lunchtime period only as it is used by children going home for lunch. The new classrooms (and the existing mobile) all have smart-boards. The computers for the new classrooms have arrived and we await these being installed. Cloakroom facilities are available in all mobiles and there are two toilets in each. P4 and P5 classes will be timetabled for regular access to rooms within the main building. I hope that this helps clarify arrangements for you. Regards Pamela Adamson Headteacher
