This fund invests primarily in small companies with market capitalizations of less than $5 billion at the time
of purchase. We look for companies whose stocks we believe are undervalued but have significant potential
for price appreciation. The Small Cap Value portfolio may hold up to 25% of its total assets in cash as well
as in foreign securities. The fund may also invest in growth companies if we believe the valuation is
sufficiently discounted from the projected long-term earnings growth rate to warrant a small cap
appreciation strategy.

The fund will normally invest at least 75% of net assets in the common stocks of companies
expected to benefit from the development, advancement, and use of science and/or
technology. Companies in industries such as electronics, communications, e-commerce,

materials, defense, and aerospace are likely to be in the portfolio.
