A Year In Review
It has been a busy year for us! We are excited to share details with you about our community
collaboration. Several state funded grants that are focused on partnership with Family and Children
First Council: Behavioral Health Juvenile Justice for Wayne Holmes Counties Juvenile Courts, and
Strong Families Safe Communities partnering with Wayne and Holmes Counties Developmental
Disabilities Board and Catholic Charities to provide wrap around services. These programs are
improving the quality of our system of care by implementing evidence-based practices.
We would like to highlight two of the programs authorized by our Board of Directors: Medication
Assisted Treatment (MAT) with STEPS at Liberty Center and the Childrens Services Substation with
ANAZAO Community Partners. MAT allows individuals to safely detox from opiate addiction under
the care of a physician and treatment team. CSB Substations provide treatment for opiate and other
drug addictions to families with children in the CSB system, allowing them to receive services at
CSB. Available state funds were utilized to support these needed programs, which address the
opiate epidemic in our area. The Counseling Center was also able to utilize these funds to assist
many individuals in securing employment. We are grateful to our state legislators for their
approval of continuation funds to make these programs possible.
As we look to the future, our focus begins to center around the creation of our Recovery Oriented
System of Care. We are excited to see MOCA House and OASIS develop and grow their positive
impact on our community. The coming months will bring many exciting changes to our local system
of care.

QPR Training
The Mental Health & Recovery Board of Wayne and Holmes Counties has made suicide prevention a top
priority with the QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training process, which is considered a best practice by
the Suicide Prevention Resource Center. QPR is used to train individuals to recognize the signs of suicide,
persuade a suicidal individual to seek help, and refer persons in need to the appropriate services. This is
possible through grants provided by the Margaret Clark Morgan Foundation, the Ohio Program for Campus
Safety and Mental Health (SAMHSA funds), and the Wayne County Community Foundation. The
Wayne/Holmes MHRB was able to provide 18 trainings in 2014.
