So by your own admission (Ive been guilty too) you are a lying, thieving,
blaspheming adulterer doesnt sound pretty now does it!
They are only four of the Ten Commandments and God will judge you on those
when the time comes. God is a Holy God, a Just God and a righteous God, a good
judge; so He cannot allow sin to enter heaven with Him.
Now consider this: You were in a car accident, you were at fault and the driver in
the other car was killed. You were charged and now in court to hear your fate
from the judge. Imagine you were allowed a few minutes to say a few words to
plead your case before the judge sentences you and you told the judge that you
had donated thousands of dollars to charities over the years and even donated a
kidney to a little boy who was going to die and the very morning of the car
accident you went out in the streets and took food and clothing to the homeless
people and that you were sorry and will never do it again. I mean thats enough
right? On those words and good deeds the judge should forgive you and let you
walk free right? You would be fine with that? Wouldnt you expect the judge to be
a good judge and hand down the appropriate sentence according to the full
extent of the law? Someones loved one died, that could be their husband, wife,
mother, father, daughter, son, aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, cousin?
And you could just walk free without any penalty? Would you really be ok with
that? Or would you expect the good judge to do their job and uphold the law?
God is a good judge and He has to uphold the law on His end.
But God also gave us some good news.
Because He loves us He already sent someone to pay the price for us. Imagine
hearing that? You are guilty but someone loves you so much they are prepared to
take your punishment that you deserve.
Is there someone in your life that you love that much that you would take their
punishment for them? What if the price for the crime was death? Could you lose
your life so someone else had a second chance at their life?
That is what God did for us. You see; For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. (John 3:16) And that while we were still sinners, Christ
died for us. (Romans 5:8)
Do you understand yet? 2000 years ago, seriously that is a very long time ago!!!!
Can you comprehend that!!!! Even then He was thinking of YOU when He gave
up His life for yours/our sins so that we could have a chance to make things right
with God before we die (random fact 10 out of 10 people die) God gave us a
way to have a relationship with Him and to be forgiven of our sins. In your own
words, tell God you are sorry (you have to mean it cant fake it with God) and
.confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has
raised Him from the dead you will be saved (Romans 10:9)
Eternity is a long time even longer than the 2000 years I just mentioned ..
