Location: Skype!
In attendance: Kristen, Isabel, Michael, Annika, Adjua, Allison, Alexander, Partha, Daniel
Absent: Joelle Boxer, Shoshana Lauter
Voting Week
Weve given several proposals to Pete Cerneka [administrations led for Voting Week],
which were further narrowed down to three proposals President Obama, Supremes,
and Eric Holder;
o The proposal being pursued is bringing Eric Holder to speak on campus:
We need to make our proposal more specific, hone in on our theme and
format;
Need to reach out to other groups for partnerships.
Campaign Trip
We have been in contact with Jack Conways campaign for Gov. in KY for a few months.
Have also been in contact with Maine Citizens for Clean Elections, who are working on a
ballot initiative. Cameron Fegers [former Lead Activist] is a current intern.
Maybe we could do an alternate trip if we dont find a campaign to work on. Could do
voter registration or something related to 2016?
Dems @ NSOP
Voter registration during NSOP
o Partha and Kristen will talk to UEM about booking space for voter registration
during NSOP.
Media push during NSOP
o Possible photo project to engage first-years;
o Could do posts in the Columbia 2019 group.
Could do an event/mixer for incoming freshmen?
Fox News Update
Michelene from Fox News wants to chat with someone from CU Dems for 20-30
minutes. Will probably pull quotes from that chat for an article about what college
students want to be talked about in the 2016 election.
Ideas for the Fall
CU Dems Alumni
o Could feature them in our media (social media, website etc.)
o Joelle and Partha are looking into possibility of on-campus panels with alumni
First Meeting
o Discussed the sense that we shouldnt spend too much time introducing Board
o Could show an intro video
o Could bring a whiteboard for idea brainstorming (circa 2013?)
o Could look into getting our budget in time for first meeting, expediting it through
Pete, so that we have food
Managing Freshman Rep elections

Discussed the idea that talking about Freshman Rep elections isnt the biggest
thing we do at the first meeting;
o Discussed making sure that candidates for Freshman Rep arent discouraged if
theyre not elected.
Getting General Body more involved
o Could create a Slack or some other kind of chatroom for discussing political
issues;
o Discussed making it clear that different levels of involvement are perfectly okay. A
member of the GB could be super involved or less involved, based on their
preference;
o Looking into changing the arrangement of chairs in Satow.
Community Gardening @ Harlem Grown
Affordable Housing
o Could do a Speaker Event + Dems Habitat Build (would be great for bonding!)
Have City Council members and/or Mayor come down for an event.
Dems Event @ Latino Heritage Month
o Could do a documentary screening?
o Point Person: Shosh (probably)
o Activism: could do something related to immigration or language access?
Bringing Jon Stewart to campus (hes retiring!)?
Hosting presidential candidates in the spring
o We could have a Dems cattle call?
o Potential Sanders campaign contact?
o
