End of Activity Report

The 2015 Chemical Engineering Grand Alumni Homecoming was held on June 27, 2015 at the
T.I.P Manila Anniversary Hall. Registrations were from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Masters of Ceremony
were Engr. Ramis and Engr. Tamayo. The event started at exactly 3:00 p.m. with the Doxology sung by
students Jay de Guia and Colleen Faylogna, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and T.I.P Hymn.
Dr. Ariel V. Melendres, the president of the T.I.P. Chemical Engineering Alumni Association, gave a
welcoming speech to his fellow alumni, faculty of the T.I.P. Chemical Engineering Department, the Dean of
Engineering and Architecture, Engr. Florante Magnaye, and the students who came.
After his speech, a roll call of batches was done, from the 60s up to the present. The 90s batch
has more attendance based on the roll call. After the roll call, the parlor games were held to keep the
alumni in high spirits. The alumni were asked to group themselves into groups with five members,
regardless of batches. The mechanics of the first game was to think of their team name as fast as they can.
The first team to shout their team name wins the game. For the second game, Engr. Ramis and Engr.
Tamayo instructed the teams to arrange each members in different ways, like according to height, weight,
age, etc. After the parlor games, a video presentation about the history of T.I.P was played. The success
stories of some alumni of T.I.P was also played, who narrated their story on how T.I.P. helped them to build
their dreams into becoming professionals. With the recent achievement of T.I.P., a visual presentation about
ABET was shown, on what programs of T.I.P. were accredited in ABET.
After that, minor raffle draws were held, where winners got special Alumni mugs as prizes. Dean
Florante Magnaye, Vice President of the T.I.P Engineering Alumni Association, gave the acknowledgements
to the alumni and the institution. Engr. Lorraine A. Carrillo, Program Chair of the T.I.P. talked about what is
Chemical Engineering Department today, about Abet accreditation and PACUCOA accreditation. After her
speech, a special intermission number from ChE students and two of the faculty of Chemical Engineering
Department, Engr. Robert Delfin and Ms. Jennifer was prepared, where they danced different kinds of
ballroom dance. The second intermission number, performed again by ChE students, was a mashup of
popular song of today. Another intermission came next, where they showcased the transition of dance from
60s up to the present. Alumni testimonials was held next, were they reminisce their college days. They
also talke about their field of work, gave tips to students.

Dinner was then served, along with the ChE students singing songs for the guests. Another raffle
draw was held with customized alumni mugs and shirts as prizes. The president of T.I.P, Dr. Elizabeth
Quirino Lahoz gave a speech for the alumni who came. She commended them because of the numbers of
alumni who came, and even some who came home from other countries. Her speech included a brief
discussion of ABET, which was previously discussed. She also discussed about the career center, which
was established to help students with their internships, and graduates to find jobs. He urged the alumni to
give their contact numbers to the career center, so that it can be a partner of the school.
Most importantly, she talked about the alumni giving back to T.I.P., not by giving donations to the
school but by helping deserving less privileged 3 rd year Chemical Engineering students with their studies.
The election of new Alumni officers was held next, were Engr. Ronnie Flores won as President, Engr.
Magnaye as the Vice President, Engr. Guevarra as the secretary and Engr. Delfin as PRO. This marked the
closing of the alumni homecoming with the new sets of officers. The event was formally clode by the T.I.P.
March.
