Heather McIntyre to seek NDP nomination in Regina South

REGINA — Heather McIntyre, a Regina marketing and communications consultant, today announced her
intention to seek the NDP nomination in the provincial constituency of Regina South.

“Saskatchewan has the resources to be able to care for all of its residents,” said McIntyre, who was born
and raised in south Regina, and resides in the constituency with her husband and four children. “I’m
running for this nomination because I want to help put a stop to the Wall government’s reckless
mismanagement. Saskatchewan suffered through this kind of government in the nineteen eighties, with
disastrous results,” she continued.

“My grandmother lives in a Regina South nursing home with staff the government refuses to treat with
respect. My daughter’s school may lose its teaching assistants and the value they bring to countless
families. And soon my neighbours will be paying higher power bills. Everyone in Saskatchewan is being
forced to pay for the Wall government’s mismanagement.” McIntyre added.

“The only province to come through the North American recession being touted as the ‘place to invest’
should not be pulling resources from its most vulnerable residents. I believe Regina South deserves an
intelligent voice in the legislature, a person whose family and neighbours are directly impacted by
government decisions, someone who can represent the constituency and influence policy in a meaningful
way.”

McIntyre has worked for more than twenty years in Regina in TV, radio, film, and retail marketing. Her
commitment to Regina South is strong. McIntyre served for nine years as Vice President of the
Montessori School of Regina. She is a member of the Whitmore Park Community Association Newsletter
Committee, and currently sits on the Grace Haven/Gemma House Community Advisory Board. In the
2009 City of Regina municipal election, McIntyre posted a very strong showing against an incumbent in
Ward 2, much of which is within the constituency boundaries of Regina South.

An active New Democrat, McIntyre has served on the Regina South Executive as Vice President, with the
Saskatchewan New Democratic Women (SNDW), and worked as a volunteer in both the 2007 provincial
election and the 2009 Regina Douglas Park by-election campaign.

“I know from personal experience that Regina South is a great place to live and raise a family, but I also
know that for many people the rising cost of living and the Wall government’s broken promises with
respect to health care, education and child care are making life more difficult. I’m determined to bring
greater attention to these important issues in the months and years ahead,” McIntyre concluded. “I won’t
stand by as the government continues to ignore the needs of Saskatchewan families. I don’t want my
children to have to pay for the Wall government’s fiscal mismanagement. The first step is to join the team
that’s taking on Brad Wall and to win the support of New Democrats in Regina South.”
