In his own doubletalk. Anointed celebrity neo"con" du jour Dr. Ben Carson on guns,
Zimmerman, ordering folks around, immigration, invasion, "rule of law", amnesty, "guest
workers", "back of the line", etc.
--------Should people be allowed to own semi-automatic weapons, Dr. Carson?
It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I m afraid
that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather
you not have it. "[If you live] out in the country somewhere by yourself, I ve no problem with
that.
-Dr. Ben Carson, March 2013, Glen Beck Show; quoted in "Dr. Ben Carson Cannot be Trusted on
Guns", by Kurt Hoffman
---------George Zimmerman happened to have a gun and it ended up in a tragedy. I m thinking there
must be something we could learn from this situation in addition to not creating a big racial
divide." [Paraphrased:] "This may have been avoided if Zimmerman had been carrying a taser
instead of a gun. This was a third degree murder case and not a second degree case and if
Zimmerman had been properly charged, he probably would ve done a few years behind bars
and people wouldn't have been outraged."
-Dr. Ben Carson, Sean Hannity Show, 7-17-2013.
Later, Carson schmoozes the gun rights community, but still doesn't get it:
"On the other side of the argument, there are reasonable people who look at the tens of
thousands of people who are killed each year in this country by guns, and they do not feel that
we are doing enough to stop the carnage...and most reasonable people certainly are not in
favor of allowing criminals and mentally unstable individuals to purchase firearms. ...[T]he
number of individuals killed by guns in America is far less than the number killed by
automobiles, yet the government does not tell people they can only buy approved types of
automobiles with a limited horsepower at least not yet. We do, however, require that anyone
driving a car on the streets of our nation have a license to do so, indicating the successful
completion of adequate training. We do not grant licenses to certain categories of individuals
who would be deemed unsafe drivers. This is done for the safety of the public at large. Perhaps
instead of getting into our corners and screaming at each other, it is time to engage in
intelligent conversation about our desire to preserve the rights granted to American citizens by
our Constitution while at the same time ensuring the safety of all of our citizens."
-Dr. Ben Carson, "Why did the Founders give us the Second Amendment", Washington Times,
12-10-2013
Six months later, at the peak of anti-gun hysteria a few days after Elliot Rodger killed six people
in Santa Barbara, Carson reverts to instinct, questions whether the right to bear arms should
include assault weapons:
I think there s some weapons that probably are not appropriate, like tanks. And I m not sure
that people should have a rocket-launcher in their bedroom. But conventional weapons, I
don t have any problem with. What I have said, which some people have misinterpreted, is
that in places where there s a lot of crime with assault weapons that keeping the Second
Amendment on the table and always protecting it, we should be able to engage in
conversations about it. What can we agree on that doesn't violate the Second Amendment but
that provides some degree of protection for our citizens. Unless we can talk about these kinds
of things we will never succeed with these kinds of things.
-Dr. Ben Carson, National Press Club speech, 5-24-2014
---------Dr. Ben Carson speaks for and against politicians forcing their will on the people:
"It might be a good idea to point out to such people that a few decades ago, there were few
who believed that we would reach a state in which our leaders would decide that they know
best what the people need, and that this justifies forceful imposition of their will upon the
people."
-Dr. Ben Carson, "Why did the founders give us the Second Amendment", Washington Times,
12-10-2013
Two years later, Carson himself serves as an example of politicians forcing their will on
individuals. No excuses. Get vaccinated or go to jail:
"Although I strongly believe in individual rights and the rights of parents to raise their children
as they see fit, I also recognize that public health and public safety are extremely important in
our society. Certain communicable diseases have been largely eradicated by immunization
policies in this country and we should not allow those diseases to return by foregoing safe
immunization programs, for philosophical, religious, or other reasons when we have the means
to eradicate them."
-Dr. Ben Carson, press release, 2-2-2015; see "Ben Carson: No One Has Right to Refuse
Mandatory Vaccinations", Newsmax.
"Doctor's Orders!" But don't tell Dr. Ben Carson what to do:
"Ben Carson Used Aborted Fetal Tissue in Research, No Apologies"
By Wills Robinson, JoeMiller [dot] us, 8-15-2015: Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson
has defended using aborted fetuses for medical research even though he has slammed
Planned Parenthood for a similar practice. The neurosurgeon conducted research in 1992 using
two fetuses aborted in the ninth and 17th week of gestation, but insists it does contradict his
pro-life stance.
"There is absolutely no contradiction between the research I worked on in 1992 and my pro-life
views."
-Dr. Ben Carson, 8-13-2015
---------Immigration, from both sides of Ben Carson's mouth:
Immoral to "take advantage" of "cheap labor" from illegals while denying them citizenship:
"Is it moral for us ... to take advantage of cheap labor from illegal immigrants while denying
them citizenship? I'm sure you can tell from the way I phrased the question that I believe we
have taken the moral low road on this issue. I believe we have taken the moral low road on this
issue. Some segments of our economy would virtually collapse without these undocumented
workers - we all know that - yet we continue to harass and deport many individuals who are
simply seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Is there a way to apply logic to this
issue and arrive at an intelligent solution?"
-Dr. Ben Carson, "America the Beautiful", 2012, p.102
---------Wants "Guest" Worker / Amnesty Program and pathway to citizenship for invader-occupiers:
"A national guest-worker program makes sense and seems to work well in Canada. Noncitizens
would have to apply for a guest-worker permit and have a guaranteed job awaiting them. ...
special visas would allow for easy entry and egress across borders. ... People already here
illegally could apply for guest-worker status from outside of the country. This means they would
have to leave first. They should in no way be rewarded for having broken our laws, but if they
are wise, they will arrange with their employer before they leave to immediately offer them a
legal job as soon as their application is received. When they return, they still would not be U.S.
citizens, but they would be legal, and they would be paying taxes. Only jobs that are vacant as a
result of a lack of interest by American citizens should be eligible for the guest-worker
program."
-Dr. Ben Carson, 6-17-2015, Washington Times. [It's amnesty, virtually guaranteed "guest
worker" status, but it's not a reward! WOW! He must be a brain surgeon, he's so smart.]
---------More "Guest" Worker / Amnesty doubletalk. Americans who want to deport invaders have no
