Tamil Nadu Government has launched Non-Invasive Ischemic

Burden Reduction Program (NIBR-P) under a Public Private
Partnership(PPP) in Government Medical College Hospitals
with Vaso Meditech Pvt Ltd

Tamilnadu Government along with Vaso-Meditech Pvt Ltd a private company which is
pioneer in India in EECP service has launched a Non-Invasive Ischemic Burden
Reduction Program (NIBR-P) under a Public Private Partnership agreement to bring
non-invasive, cost effective, evidence based cardiology treatment close to needy
cardiac patients across Tamilnadu. This new program is aimed to tackle the growing
epidemic of cardio vascular disease and prepare the government infrastructure to
handle the increase number of patients seeking the Government medical college
hospitals for cardiac treatment for coronary artery disease.
Vaso-Meditech Pvt Ltd Launches, Continues Medical education program in
TamilNadu state on Non-Invasive Option for Patient with recurrent angina and Heart
Failure with special emphasis on Enhanced External Counter pulsation treatment in
support of the Public private partnership established with Government of TamilNadu.
The CME program will be focused to educate about the Non-Invasive Ischemic burden
reduction program (NIBR-P) developed and pioneered by Madras Medical College
Hospital Chennai approved by TamilNadu Government Chief Minister Comprehensive
Insurance Scheme and reimbursed by United India Insurance.
The program director Prof and Head of the department of cardiology Dr.M.S.Ravi and
colleges Dr.Meenaksi, Dr.Muthukmar, Dr.Swaminathan and former Prof& HOD of
cardiology Dr.V.Dhandapani has completed treating 120 patients with intractable
angina, Shortness of breath and who are utilizing the hospital resources to the

maximum by repeated cardiology OP visit and hospitalization. Patient

completed the 35 days of EECP treatment under the Non-Invasive Ischemic
reduction program has significant reduction in symptoms, reduced outpatient
visit and reduced re hospitalization.
Speaking on the Program Prof Dr.M.S.Ravi said this will be an additional
option other than medication, Angioplasty and Bypass surgery to the patients
suffering from coronary artery disease. EECP is shown to be very effective in
reducing the debilitating cardiac symptoms and repeat hospital visits. This
program has improved our efficiency in reducing the overall burden of
cardiovascular disease to individuals and the society. Based on our
experience the Government is planning to expand the program to other
Medical college hospitals across TamilNadu state.
Dr.S.Ramasamy EECP expert and director of Vaso-Meditech Pvt Ltd, who
will be in charge of the program for all the Medical college Hospitals in
TamilNadu Public private partnership model express his view that NonInvasive Ischemic Burden Reduction Program (NIBR) successfully
championed by Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital Chennai will be
the first such program in India. This program will be focused in reducing the
cardiac symptoms, repeat hospitalization, repeat visit to causality and
improving the quality of life of the patients by non-invasive EECP treatment.
Currently the treatment program is available in Rajiv Gandhi Government
Medical College Hospital, Coimbatore Medical college Hospital,
K.M.Cherian Heart foundation, Chettinad Health city Hospital, Rohini
Hospital Tanjavoure and K.G.Hospital Coimbatore. In the next 6 months
Vaso-Meditech Pvt Ltd is planning to initiate 15 such program in private and
government general hospital across India.
