Introduction
The Titan Company Ltd. was established in 1984 as a joint venture between
the Tata Group and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO).
Titan started off as a manufacturer of watches that incorporated quartz
technology coupled with international styling. Its business has now grown
and ventured into jewellery, precision engineering components and
accessories including wallets, bags, belts and sunglasses. Responsible for
bringing into the Indian Market many internationally reputed brands like
Tommy Hilfiger, FCUK, Timberland & Police as well as the Swiss made watch
Xylys. Today it is the 5th largest watch manufacturer in the world and has

1) Watches
The brands based on the segment they target are:
Titan mid-premium
Fastrack youth
Sonata mass
Xylys premium
There are a number of sub brands such as Titan Edge, Titan Raga,
Nebula and collections such as Zoop, Orion, Purple, Obaku, Automatic,
Tycoon, Bandhan, Octane and HTSE Series.
It also sells several licensed products like FCUK, Tommy Hilfiger,
POLICE, Timberland.
Titan is the 5th largest manufacturer of watches in the world and it
accounts for over 65% of the domestic market. The sales are carried
out through exclusive World of Titan showrooms and 12,000 multibrand outlets in India and abroad. Helios, a multi-brand watch retailer
is also owned by Titan.
2) Jewellery
Tanishq, the jewellery brand of Titan, is the largest retailer of
jewellery in India. It was started in 1994 and was the first such brand of
jewellery to enter the Indian market, at a time when family owned
jewellery businesses prevailed. Their offerings are premium gold
jewellery and designs created for the semi urban and rural Indian
market. Another brand Zoya offers premium studded jewellery that
caters to the requirements of the elite.
3) Eyewear
Titan Eye+ is the eyewear brand of Titan and offers a number of
products consisting of frames, lenses, contact lenses and accessories.
Frames are available in both international brands and the in-house
brands Titan Eye+ and Dash. Sales are made through exclusive stores
and multi-brand retailers.
4) Accessories

Titans brand Fastrack also consists of accessory products such as


bags, belts, sunglasses, wallets and helmets. It was started as a subbrand in 1998, but then grew to focus on the urban youth. Sales are
made through exclusive Fastrack stores and through multi-brand
retailers.

6) "Best product design of the year- Watches and Jewelry " award by Red
Dot for Edge skeletal for 2014.
7) Tanishq is the first Indian brand to enter the list of top 30 Best Retail
brands in Asia Pacific and stands at #13 as per Interbrand.
