FIRE PUMP CONTROLLER

For Diesel Driven Fire Pumps

Hazardous Area, for Zone 2 (Class I Division 2)
Type

EFP/FD4e/Ex nR
Release 1.5

The Metron Eledyne fire pump controller type

EFP/FD4e/Ex nR is designed to specifically meet the
latest ATEX requirements for a Zone 2 classified area,
and designed to meet with the latest NFPA No.20 rules
and regulations for diesel engine fire pump controllers.
FM Approved to 1321/23 (fire pump controllers) and
3611 (Nonincendive for electrical equipment in
hazardous locations).
This control panel has an explosion protection rating
of Ex nR IIC T4 in accordance to IEC/EN60079-2,
with an ingress protection to NEMA 4x, or IP55. The
unit is supplied with a test certificate in accordance
with ATEX (FM14ATEX0039X) and IECEx
(IECEx FME 14.0007X) standards. There are also
three Ex E termination boxes included for DC, AC
and remote monitoring customer termination.
This controller uses a restricted breathing method of
enclosure construction such that the possibility of
entry of a surrounding explosive gas atmosphere is
reduced to a low level. This protection technique
may be used in a Zone 2 classified location where
explosive atmospheres are present in abnormal
conditions only for short periods (typically less than
10 hours per year). Rated +5 to 50C.

Features:

This controller implements the latest component and microprocessor logic technology available. It incorporates
years of experience in the design and manufacture of fire pump control systems.
All components are fitted in a heavy duty fabricated stainless steel weatherproof enclosure, suitable for
engine mounting when fitted with anti-vibration mounts, with a standard paint finish to our PSO396 or
to any customer specific finish to a RAL or BS colour, with a minimum paint thickness of 50 or
optional 150 microns.
The controllers logic is based on discrete components used in conjunction with high quality, highly reliable
printed circuit boards (PCBs) and PCB mounted relays. The controller uses a microprocessor to control automatic
engine and alternation between batteries during cranking. It also monitors and records system alarms and
pressure, battery voltage and engine functions. This controller is suitable for all engine types with either energised
to run or energise to stop fuel solenoids.
Inside the controller are two independent fully automatic microprocessor controlled battery chargers rated
continuously at 10 Amps each. The battery chargers operate in such a manner as to ensure that the engine
batteries are fully charged within 24 hours.
