SYLLABUS
COURSE NAME

Advanced Anthropology

COURSE CODE

C 203 Cog

COURSE DESCRIPTION :

The course intends to advance the graduate students level of competency in the discipline of Anthropology with a broad goal of encouraging
development of their understanding of humankind, past and present and an appreciation of the evolutionary history of all humankind, its global
cultural manifestations and its patterns of social organization. They will grapple with the ideas and analyses that preoccupied the core figures of
the field that continue to shape the direction of anthropology, the basic 'tools' of the discipline necessary to understanding and exploring
general cultural problems and cultural changes that occur globally and within the Philippines. Through this course, students will advance their
understanding of major anthropological concepts, principles, theories, methods, and scientific approaches and develop their anthropological
stock of knowledge that is useful in everyday life and in the further pursuit of anthropological insights amid contemporary issues that affect
society, cultural ecology, political, economic systems, and social change.
