Introduction
We are a society that demands evidence. If some-
one told you they had a diamond the size of a refrigerator
buried beneath their back yard, you would be skeptical and
demand they show evidence for this outrageous claim. If this
person could not show any evidence supporting their claim,
you would no doubt dismiss it as false and go about your
business.
Almost all aspects of life are subject to this type of
scrutiny except for religion. The objective of this pamphlet is
for you to analyze your beliefs in the same way you analyze
everything else.
Criteria
This exercise is simple. All you have to do is answer
the following 20 questions without appealing to anything su-
pernatural, and without using any rationalizations or excuses.
Examples of appealing to anything supernatural are:
“Satan created other religions in order to trick us!”
-or-
“God didn't need to be created because he is eternal”
Examples of rationalizations/excuses are:
“We can never understand God's Will”
-or-
“God works in mysterious ways”
Now that you understand the types of answers you cannot
use, we can begin with the questions.
Questions About God
Why are there so many competing religions if only one of them
is true?
Why don't great miracles happen in this day and time?
Why is there so much division among Christians about the
proper way to worship and believe?
Why do you believe in the god of the bible but deny the exis-
tence of hundreds of other gods and goddesses?
If God knows the future, how can there be free will?
If God is all powerful and will give you anything you ask (Mark
11:24), why do you need health insurance when you can just
pray to be well?
If we can pray to God and whatever we ask for will be given to
us (again, Mark 11:24), why won’t God regenerate amputees’
severed limbs?
Why do you put money into the offering plate? If God is all
powerful, shouldn’t your church’s leaders be able to pray to
God for money like they pray for everything else and receive it
according to Mark 11:24?
Why would an all-powerful god sacrifice himself (Jesus) to him-
self in order to appease himself, just so he could repeal a moral
and spiritual standard he himself created?
How can an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good god allow so
much evil and suffering to exist?
If God is perfect and infallible, why did he have to change his
laws (Old Testament vs. New Testament)?
If the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are all part of God, how can
only the Father know the time of the end of the world
(Matthew 24:36-39)?
Why would an all-powerful, perfect god desire worship and
obedience?
Questions About The Bible
If the New Testament replaced the Old Testament, why
do so many people still refer to the ten commandments?
How do we determine which parts of the bible are true
and which parts are allegory, metaphor, and/or moral
teaching?
Why are there two different creation stories in the first
two chapters of Genesis?
Why doesn’t God make his presence known today like
he did in the bible?
Why is there so much violence and bloodshed in the Old
Testament?
Why is slavery morally wrong by today’s standards when
it is condoned throughout the bible?
Why does Paul in the New Testament condone sexism
when it is morally repugnant by today’s standards?
In Conclusion...
If you believe you were able to answer every
single one of these questions without making any ration-
alizations or excuses, or invoking anything supernatural,
you should immediately seek a non-believer or skeptic
near you and share your answers with them. Perhaps you
will enlighten them.
If, however, you find your answers lacking and
have come to the realization that these questions cannot
be answered without breaking the rules of this exercise,
you are not alone. In fact, there is only one logical an-
swer to these questions:
God is imaginary and the bible is fiction.
