I was reflecting on the incredible and miraculous nature of missionary work as I was
reading through Preach My Gospel recently. The impression that came to me was that
this is not a work that relies on the arm of flesh. Because it is a divine work that has
eternal ramifications, it must be done with divine power. Our great ally in this work is,
of course, the Holy Ghost. Because the Holy Ghost does not testify of that which is not
true, we know that if our lives are in order and we are worthy to have Him with us, we
always have a spiritual advantage. Other faiths simply do not have the Gift of the Holy
Ghost. We do and combined with the Book of Mormon they make a very powerful duo
in testifying of the truth of our message. As I was reading in Chapter 4 in Preach My
Gospel, I wrote down these 13 powerful statements about this wonderful ally. They are
worthy of contemplation and reflection as we realize we cannot do this work without
His influence:

You have been promised inspiration to know what to do and have been given
the power to do it
You need to seek and receive personal revelation through the Holy Ghost as
you help people become baptized and confirmed.
The Holy Ghost can work through the Light of Christ
The Holy Ghost bears witness of the truth.so deeply that no earthly
power or authority can separate him (the soul) from that knowledge.
When conversion takes place, it is through the power of the Spirit.
When the Spirit touches the heart, hearts are changed.
The Spirit is given to us by the prayer of faith.
The Spirit speaks quietly, through your feelings as well as your mind (it
whispers, caresses gently).
As the Lords servant, you are to do His work in His way and by His power.
No man can preach the Gospel without the Holy Ghost!
Be willing to follow the Spirit and change your plans when unforeseen
opportunities arise.
When a man speaks by the power of the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost carries
it to the heart of the listener.
We must have the Spirit with us not only when we teach, but also when we
find.

When we are giving a discussion and we feel the Spirit strongly, we need to stop the
lesson for just a brief interval and point out to the investigator that the wonderful
feeling of peace, of warmth, of calm, of light, of exhilaration is the Holy Ghost so that
they can recognize it every time they feel it. Sometimes I feel that we dont completely
understand what the power of the Holy Ghost can do for us. It plays a much larger and
broader role in our lives than most people realize. Here is what Parly P. Pratt said about
the Holy Ghost:
The gift of the Holy Ghost quickens all the intellectual faculties, increases, enlarges,
expands, and purifies all the natural passions and affections; and adapts them by the
gift of wisdom, to their lawful use. It inspires, develops, cultivates and matures all the
fine-toned sympathies, joys, tastes, kindred feelings, and affections of our nature. It
inspires virtue, kindness, goodness, tenderness, gentleness, and charity. It develops
beauty of person, form and features. It tends to health, vigor, animation, and social
feeling. It invigorates all the faculties of the physical and intellectual man. It
strengthens, and gives tone to the nerves. In short, it is, as it were, marrow to the
bone, joy to the heart, light to the eyes, music to the ears, and life to the whole being.
How blessed we are to have this great Ally in this work. I pray that we may not ever lose
sight of how real conversion takes place. We should thank the Lord in our prayers for
the blessing of the Spirit in our lives as missionaries. May we do this is my prayer,
Sinceramente,
Presidente Dayton

Hola president. This week was
so good. I got my first baptism,
and I can't even describe my
feelings from during the service.
It was Steven Alexis Ospina
Mena, we found him on the
streets, and he is from Columbia.
Elder ______ is such a hard
worker, and really trying to help
me be the best missionary I can
be, we are having success and we
both know it is definitely not us,
it is truly the Lords hand in our
lives.
We were very blessed by the
Lord this week. Last night I felt so
grateful for everything that
happened as I prayed, the Spirit
keeps playing a bigger and bigger
role in my mission. Andrea was
baptized on Saturday and
confirmed yesterday. It was quite
the adventure leading up to his
baptism. He opened the door the
day we met him and initially said
no he didnt have time but with a
little persistence opened the door
to us. That week he told us hed
come to church but ended up not
coming. We took him to church the
next week, lost contact with him the
entire next week and thought all had
ended until we saw him in the street
one day doing our pass by plans. The
next day after that we met again and
started to teach again. The
culmination of it all finally came as
we got to see him enter the
covenant of baptism this last
weekend.

Washington (from Ecuador)
was baptized on Saturday! I sang
Grand Eres T and taught about
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I was
so nervous, but he seemed to like
it! He has this funny little smile!
Oh what joy that filled my whole
self when he came out just
smiling! He bore his testimony
afterwards and it was amazing.
He stated, "I wish I had known
about this truth my whole life,
but I am excited to come to
church and be clean every week."
He just gets it! We were walking
him home afterwards and he
said, "Hermanas, I am so thankful
you came back for me." (The
Elders had put him on the "back
burner.") As I said, he just gets it. I
feel like we baptized the next
bishop of the ward or something.
