Moral Development

Developmental psychologist Lawrence Kohlberg built on Piaget's work to create his


theory of the Stages of Moral Understanding. According to Kohlberg, young children
at the age 5-10 base their morality on a punishment and obedience orientation.
Much like Piaget, Kohlberg believed that young children behave morally because
they fear authority and try to avoid punishment. In other words, little kids follow the
rules because they don't want to get in trouble

Question1 explains about 6 stages (3 group ) Lawrence Kohlberg,level 1 age: 0-10
during the stage 1 which children tends to do something correctly because ther are
afraid of the punishment that they will get if they did not do it right.

2)You want to get an excellent result for your examination because


A. Reward that your parent had promised
B. Afraid of the punishment if you get such a bad result
C.Jealous of your friends that got higher marks than you.
Question 2 want to prove that children most likely want to do something because
they want the reward.

3)If you visit your neighbours house,what you supposed to do? Qt vague. Must

A.Touch the things in the house without permission
B.Greet the owner of the house and behave well
C.Do not show respect to the elder and talk rudely
Question 3 want to show that children behave well because they want to be
accepted in the society.

Make sure that your qts are able to collect data which can reflect Lawrence
Kolhberg stage of moral devt.
