REGISTRATION INFORMATION
REGISTER EARLY! Many of our camps and programs fill
up fast and registration is on a first come, first served
basis.
Participants must be the advertised age of the camp by
the start of the program.
Most of our camps and programs run in two-week
sessions, from 9:00am-3:30pm.
Registration instructions are on page 64. If you need
additional help, call 240-777-6840.
RecAssist is available beginning January 1, 2015
to County Residents who are receiving assistance
from other Montgomery County agencies. Visit
montgomerycountymd.gov/rec for more information.
You will receive a REGISTRATION CONFIRMATION by
email after your registration is processed. Please
make sure you email is current in our system.
If you register online, you will need to print out
your receipt/confirmation.
Material fee payable to the instructor. RecAssist
funds cannot be used to pay material fees.
Program locations are subject to change due to
MCPS schedules.
Remember
programs will not
meet on July 3rd. Happy

PROGRAM INFO
Camp information will be emailed. If no email address is
on file, info will be mailed. If registering after June 8, go
online and print participant information. Campers will
not be able to attend without required paperwork.
On the first day of camp your child will be assigned to
a group counselor and they will receive a Newsletter of
the planned camp and program activities.
MCR staff have gone through background checks and
receive specific program training prior to camp/program
beginning.
Air conditioning may not be available at all locations.
Sports camps, outdoor camps, park sites, and school
gyms are usually NOT air conditioned.
Extreme Heat and Code Red Ozone Alerts, as well as
other inclement weather conditions, force us to
adapt our program schedules and activities for
your childs safety.
No AM or PM bus transportation will be provided.

ADA Accommodations
Montgomery County Government is committed to complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA). As a result, children and teens with disabilities may register for the most appropriate programs
for their age, needs, and skill level. There are two options: Therapeutic Recreation camps specifically
designed for individuals with disabilities or inclusion in general recreation programs.
If your child needs auxiliary aids or services in order to participate (such as a companion, ASL, or large
print), please call a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to discuss your childs needs (240-777-6870) or
email rec.mainstream@montgomerycountymd.gov.
If your child has a Special Education placement at school and you choose an inclusion program,
a volunteer companion may enhance his or her experience at camp. Companion requests are made
on a case by case basis. Please notify us as early as possible to arrange. Last minute requests will be
accepted but accommodations may be difficult to fulfill.

Little People Centers

Ages 4-5: Ready for your little one to experience the joys of summer camp? Little People Centers
offer preschoolers a first taste of camp within a nurturing and well structured environment.
Each camp is packed full of exciting hands-on activities including games, crafts, stories, songs
and even water play (to help us stay cool on hot summer days!) Camps are half-day and campers
need to bring a bag lunch. Children must be 4 years old and toilet trained by the start of camp.
Extended camp is not available for LPC camps. Programs will not meet on Friday, July 3.

Preschool & Kindergarten Camps

Led by professionals, these programs offer an ideal blend of challenging and imaginative activities
with a supportive and nurturing environment. Play, socialize and discover! Children must be toilet
trained by the start of the program. No transportation is provided. Parent participation is not
required, however, parents may stay based on their childs needs.

Little Scientist Camp
Ages 3-6: Bring your child to this exciting and
hands on science and art camp! Based on
our child centered science curriculum, we will
explore several science experiments. Then,
quality children's literature will guide us into
producing a tactile work of art. Outdoor play is
included in each camp day. Bring a snack and

more information. $10 Materials Fee due on frist
day of camp to instructor. Please complete and
bring all camp paperwork with you on the first
day of camp.
Challenger Space Camp Jr.

Ages 3-5: This Coach Doug program combines
the creative and age appropriate activities
of Challenger Space & Rocketry with the
non-competitive Sports/Fitness activities of
Wee Wanna Be. Organized 'Learning Stations'
feature fun-in-learning, hands-on activities
based on the space theme. Sports are presented
in a kid friendly environment where children
can learn at their own pace. Preschoolers love
discovering just what they can accomplish in this
multi-action program! $10 material fee due for

Act It Out! (Summer Camp)

Ages 3-5: Brought to you by the C.A.R.E. Actor
(creative awareness responsive education)
program, comes alive as we act out storybooks
and make our own costumes and props using
a variety of art materials! In this camp, students
will experience how the theater arts and fine
arts go hand in hand while discussing topics
such as respect, kindness, and peace through
storybooks. This class will have a final presentation on the last day of camp. Come join us this
summer! A material fee of $20 covers the cost

Mini Musical Notions N' Motions
Ages 3-5: Ahoy all Pirate Island Buccaneers!

Come aboard to create pirate ships, colorful
parrots, treasure maps, sea monsters, ship flags,
doubloon necklaces, treasure chests and more!
Our buccaneers will explore cartooning, origami,
sand painting, sculpture, and cartography as the
y play pirate games and use their imagination
to experience the adventure of life on the high

Ages 3-5: Based on the successful Mini Music

Makers, here is an opportunity to extend their
musical exposure in a fun atmosphere. It is
perfect for families with siblings! Explore musical
aspects and concepts in this enjoyable mini
school using percussion and melodic instruments. It includes an exciting curriculum utilizing
traditional and composed songs, rhythm, motor
coordination, steady beat, singing, ear training,
movement and exposure to folk dances. $20

Ages 3-5: A fun introduction to soccer

utilizing maximum activity and participation
and highly stimulating fantasy games. The
focus is creating a fun learning environment in
which children develop basic ball manipulation
skills, using their feet. Instruction is provided by
professional British coaches and teachers. All
participants receive a U.K. Elite t shirt and
a certificate of attendance.
Ages 2-3: Program uses soccer as the

medium for children to develop their
balance, agility, coordination, color recognition
and numerical learning along with increasing
their confidence and social skills in a fun and
relaxed environment.

Ages 7-12: Power-up your engineering skills

with Play-Well TEKnologies and over 100,000
pieces of LEGO! Kids apply real-world concepts
in physics, engineering, and architecture through
projects designed by engineers. Instructors
provide inspiration for students to take their
creations further, and each day's projects are
geared uniquely to challenge each student's
abilities. We will explore motorized, mechanized,
and architectural projects in a fun way.
Ages 5-6: Let your imagination run wild with

over 100,000 pieces of LEGO! In this fun-filled,
creative class, kids learn building techniques
that help make their ideas a reality with the
guidance of an experienced Play-Well instructor.
Instructors demonstrate new projects daily, and
provide inspiration for students to take their creations further. Each course is geared uniquely to
the kids but will include motorized, architectural,
and fanciful projects.
Ages 7-12: Campers design and program robots

to compete in simulated Olympic events such as
a sprinting in a race, throwing a basketball, and

Platform Games
Ages 8-13: Students will use Multimedia Fusion 2
to create their own video game. A platform game
is a side-scrolling, Mario-type game where students program characters and a two-dimensional

a copy of the game they create.

Mad Science: 321 Blast-Off!

Ages 6-12: This action-packed week will focus
solely on rockets and the physics of rocket flight.
After learning the model rocket safety code,
campers will build a number of different rockets
and participate in the launching, mission control,
propulsion and finally recovery of the rockets
they build. Campers will be divided into three
groups: altitude trackers, launch preparation,
and launchers. Every camper will have an opportunity to try all three.

Ages 6-12: Creative Contraption Warning!
This is a camp designed by you-the Inventor!
Each day you'll be given a series of challenges
which must be overcome using basic materials,
simple machines, tips from world famous inventors and the most important thing of all-your
mind. With a little bit of ingenuity you'll construct
catapults and forts and then lay siege, fabricate
a winning Egg Drop design, construct a dancing
robot and assemble a working light saber to
take home. While Thomas Edison said invention
is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this
camp is 100% fun!

Connect the dots using science to help solve a
crime in this hands on investigation of the science

Robotics 101
Age 8-12: During the Robotics 101 program,
students will learn the basics of designing,
programming, and controlling a fully functional
robot. Using LEGO MINDSTORMS, mathematical
concepts, and engineering principles students
will brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences
of instructions to accomplish a given task.
Students will also learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the
robot's sensors.
EIS (Explorations in Science) Camp

Ages 5-8: Slime, eruption and gravity, oh my! In this hands-on camp campers will learn about
the amazing science they can do with basic household materials. Each day will include science
experiments, crafts, games and outdoor exploration. Campers swim twice a week and go on a field
trip during the first three sessions. Each camper must bring a bag lunch. Onsite morning and afternoon
extended care is available for an additional fee.

Ages 5-12: Children registered for the

Challenger Space Rocketry and Kids, Keys 'n
Sports at Cabin John MS are eligible to register
for the extended day program offered morning
and afternoon.
Ages 8-12: Wow! A Coach Doug camp that

exercises your child's body as well as his/her
mind! The program alternates self-paced and
entertaining computer keyboarding practice with
instruction in your child's favorite sports. Sports
vary daily and weekly and may include soccer,
hockey, basketball, lacrosse and more. Kids
improve skills in a non-competitive environment
that stresses teamwork, skill enhancement and
cooperation. It's a winner for everyone! $10
material fee due to instructor on first day. No
bus transportation. AM/PM extended camps

Ages 5-7: Have fun and experience a carnival

atmosphere. Campers learn to speak though a
puppet, play a carnival game, juggle handkerchiefs, paint your face to look like a tiger, or even
learn a magic trick! All these things happen at
Junior Carnival. So bring your happy face and
get ready to have fun! All supplies included in
the cost.
Ages 8-11: Children learn how to do puppetry,

magic, balloon sculpture, face painting, object
balancing, juggling, skit comedy, and much more!
They learn and play carnival themed games, and
put on a performance for parents at the end of

Summer Camp
Ages 5-12: Spend a week playing and learning about chess from highly rated professional
instructors at Silver Knights Chess! We teach
chess to more than 10,000 children each year
throughout the Washington, DC Area.
Campers are divided into groups by skill level,
from beginner through highly rated tournament
players. Every camper receives a t-shirt, a Gold
membership to chesskid.com, and choice of a
tournament-style chess set or a free tournament

tactics and endgames; studying master games;

Horseback Riding: Camp
Kid's Kitchen: Food, Fitness, Fun!
Ages 8-15: Children will ride twice a day 4 times

per week, swim every day, and do various unmounted horse activities including leading horses,
unsaddling, grooming, bathing, cleaning tack, plus
general barn responsibilities. There is no riding
on Thursdays (horse's much deserved day off-try
running around in 90+ degree weather with a fur
coat on!), but the kids will have unmounted horse
activities such as those listed above and have the
opportunity to play 'Camp Game,' a traditional
favorite. Long pants, smooth, hard soled shoes,
bathing suit, towel, and lunch are needed every
day. All camp forms must be completed and
received by Camp Olympia before camper can
attend this program. Campers must be on time as
they depart with their groups right at 9:30 am.
Ages 8-14: Campers learn kid-friendly messages about nutrition, physical activity, and
good health that are simple, interactive and fun.
Campers engage hands-on cooking/food and
fitness activities and prepare delicious recipes
from all food groups (grains, fruits, vegetables,
dairy and meat) to develop a healthy lifestyle of
eating and exercise. A $25 material fee will be

Aquatics Sports Camps

This camp has it all-swimming, diving, trampoline, soccer, kickball, crafts and games! Campers
should be able to swim 25 yards and must be comfortable in water that exceeds their height. Campers
must come equipped with shorts, T-shirt, and tennis or athletic-type shoes. Campers
should bring a non-perishable lunch, extra pair of athletic socks, swim suit, towel, cap, goggles,
and sunscreen. A $15 material fee is due at the beginning of each session, payable to Tober Aqua Sports,

Artengage, educate, explore! Cultivate and enhance your dance and

music skills! Participate in theatre production including: choreography,
improvisation, and set construction. Develop the confidence and poise that
will last a lifetime. Learn new skills working in watercolor, acrylics or origami.
Create with paper mache, design a maze or explore fun cartooning. Experience
art in a variety of hands-on activities and fun creative forms. Transportation
is not available for these programs. Campers attending full-day programs
must bring their lunch. Programs will not meet on Friday, July 3.
Arts, Dance, and Music Camps

Arts in the Park
Ages 5-10: You will create lots of cool artwork
inspired by the great outdoors in this beautiful setting. Artwork may include paper mache,
mobiles, sculptures from natural and recycled
materials, mosaics, painting in the style of famous
artists, collage, fabric painting, and lots more! New
crafts! Play lots of games, sports, and explore the
park. On Wed. campers walk to the Bethesda pool
adjacent to the park and must pass a swimming
test or stay in the shallow end. Bring a bag lunch,
and wear sunscreen. There will be $25 material
fee due to the instructor the first day of camp.

Creative Critters
Ages 6-12: Join Young Rembrandts as we

travel back in time to the Middle Ages for our
Castle Workshop. Princesses, knights, castles
and even dragons highlight the spectacular
drawings our students will produce. Not only
will our students learn how to illustrate periodspecific characters and scenes, but they will
also strengthen their drawing and coloring
skills. From kinghts in shining armor to elegantly
dressed maidens, our students will learn how to
compose a well drawn figure. Get ready for five
days of exciting, medieval imagery! All supplies
are included.
Ages 6-12: Animal lovers rejoice: an all new

animal workshop is here! Students will learn
drawing and texturing techniques to illustrate
whimsical bees, a fanciful army of frogs, a striking owl and more artistic critters filled with detail.
This class focuses primarily on pastel drawing,
but students may complete additional drawings
in colored pencil, marker and sharpie as well.
Challenge your creative kids by introducing them
to the world of pastels, a guaranteed favorite
summer tradition for every Young Rembrandts
artist. Please wear an old shirt or smock to

Art Destinations Specialty Camp
Princess Dance Camp
Creative Theatre
Ages 6-12: It's like having an art store at your

fingertips! Come to the magical world of Art
Destination, where you can experience art in
a fun and creative ways. Use many mediums
including clay (regular and polymer), wood items
to build or paint, and more. Create works of art
with watercolors, acrylics, oil pastels, chalk and
more! Use a variety of materials (too many to
list) and experiment to create your own fantastic
artistic world. You can take it one week, or all
summer, and never make the same thing twice!
A $42 material fee is due to instructor on the
first day of camp for each session registered.
Bring a bag lunch and a smock.
Ages 5-8: Inspired by Disney Princesses, in this

dance camp dancers will have daily Ballet and
Theatre dance classes in dance wonderland.
Join us for enchanted arts and crafts, royal
snacks and much more. Princesses will also
learn to make a tiara, ribbon skirt, activity book
and will enjoy princess themed movies during
the snack break. The last day of Princess
Dance Camp will conclude with a short dance
presentation and an official princess crowning
ceremony.

Ages 9-13: Lights, camera, drama! Leap into an

unforgettable theater experience as we plan and
produce a real stage production. Campers will
participate in all aspects of the production from auditioning, choreography, improvisation, costuming,

A culminating stage performance for family and

Ages 5-10: Are we in Mexico? You would think
you were with all the fun Mexican crafts, games,
sports and music. Create your own mask, pinata,
sombrero, maracas and much more! All in

So You Think You Can Dance Camp
Enchanted Musical Theatre
Ages 6-9: In this week long dance camp, come

and explore a variety of the latest and greatest
sytles of dance including jazz, lyrical, contemporary and hip hop. Feel like one of the stars
on the hit show 'So you think you can dance.'
Camp will include daily dance classes, choreography by guest instructors, games and a finale
performance showcasing a routine they learned
for parents and friends! Full session attendees
will also receive a free dance camp water bottle
and t-shirt.
Ages 7-12: Here's an exciting opportunity for

aspiring musical theatre artists. We'll create an
original musical and explore the camaraderie
of the ensemble spirit and other music theatre
skills while developing individual creative talent.

Ages 5-12: Here's something to sing about!

Spend your summer in musical bliss and discover just how many fun and exciting activities
you can tune into! You'll have time each day to
find your inner rhythm as you enjoy singing and
choir, exploring different instruments, discovering new dances and dance moves, playing the
piano and more! Each day will include special
activities, outdoor play and time to practice for a
Musical Showcase at the end of each session.
This is a fun program that will enrich and entertain children at all levels of musical expression.

Ages 3-6: Come and visit our 'Orchestra Jungle

Party' and learn about music, rhythms, song,
dance and instrument families. Each day we will
Safari into a different instrument family learning
where they live in the 'Orchestra Jungle' as well
as make an instrument! Using motor coordination, steady beats, ear training and fun we
will learn music terms and music history and
rhythmic notation. Please bring a snack each

musical instruments and concepts of piano, guitar,

Adventure Inclusion Camp

Ages 13-18: Are you ready for daily adventures like canoeing, white water kayaking, sea
kayaking, and more? Then you have found the
right fit! This camp also encourages personal
development, team building and self-reflection
through a variety of exciting and physically demanding outdoor activities. The camp will be in
the wilderness setting and will go rain or shine.
This pilot program is structured to provide an
inclusive environment for individuals with ADD/
ADHA, ED as well as participants without disabilities. Campers must be able to pass a swim
test and be fully active in an outdoor setting for 8
hours each day. 1:4 staff to participant ratio.

Sports Camps
Camps are designed for children who enjoy enthusiastic and athletic play! Campers
are encouraged to learn skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship while playing
fun games, skill activities, and recreational sports. Activities may include soccer,
basketball, gym hockey, T-ball, softball, games, special events, and contests. Some
non-sports activities may round out the day. There is no transportation. Campers

One-on-One Basketball Clinic
All Stars
Ages 9-16: Clinics are directed by enthusiastic

and experienced coaches, and boys and girls
of all ability levels are welcome. Each weekly
clinic will highlight a new skill or fundamental
technique along with continued development of
all other skills and techniques through fun drills
and instruction. Includes instruction in ball handling, fast break situations, passing, shooting,
dribbling, rebounding, individual moves and fun
skill enhancing drills. Participants should wear
non-marking sneakers or tennis shoes.
Ages 8-13: Swoop, bang, swish! These sounds

and more will fill the air in this fun, sportsthemed camp. Campers will build their knowledge and skills of a variety of sports including
basketball, gym hockey, soccer, flag football and
more. This camp is sure to keep campers on the

Capital Ultimate Camp

Ages 11-15: Capital Ultimate Frisbee Camp is a
fun alternative for kids who want an active camp
but are tired of the same old sports. Ultimate
Frisbee is a fast growing, fast paced game
that combines skills used in sports like soccer,
football and basketball. Campers totally new
to Frisbee will learn the fundamentals:
catching, throwing backhand, forehand, etc.
More experienced players will sharpen and
extend those skills, plus learn defensive skills,

This program, coached by a specialized British
Soccer instructor, provides technical and tactical
instruction, placing emphasis on skill development, fundamental tactical awareness, and FUN
for campers ages 6-16. The morning emphasis
is placed upon individual skill development,
fundamental tactics, goal scoring and coached
scrimmages. Individuals in the full day program
will then have a one hour lunch break, followed
by coaches scrimmages, competitions and British Street soccer games. Bring cleats and water

players with authentic Brazilian coaching right in
their own community. The TetraBrazil curriculum
has been designed by our professional coaches

environment which stimulates learning, developing, practicing and polishing soccer skills. UK
Elite Soccer's international STEPS2Success'
curriculum provides children with age specific
training based on the use of maximum activity
and highly stimulating practices and games.
Each day begins with the move of the day and
ends with a mini-World Cup tournament! The
focus is creating a fun learning environment in
which children learn and improve their skills.
Instruction is provided by professional British
coaches and teachers. All participants receive a
t shirt and an evaluation by a trainer. Participants
are divided by ages for participation.
Ages 7-14: Full Day Soccer Camp. These camps

are action packed. Players must bring a lunch
and drinks. Sun shade / shelter is provided.
Camp days are designed to promote learning of
techniques and skills focusing on the youngeraged individual players. A typical day will include
mass games, structured practices, scrimmages,
and our World Cup Tournament to end each day.
Our professional coaches will ensure players

to take players 7-14 to the next level of skill.
Progressing from our Soccer Camp curriculum,

Summer Fun Centers are for children between

the ages of 5 and 12 years. Five-year-olds must
be entering first grade in the Fall, and school
records may be required for age verification.
Children must be no older than 12 throughout
the six-week session.
$365 for a six (6) week Summer Fun Center.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the

Department of Recreation may need to move
a program to an alternate site. If a location is
changed, parents will be notified as soon as
possible.

Keep the fun going all day long! Campers may also be registered
for morning or afternoon Extended Camp. Morning extended Camp
provides campers with low key activities like puzzles, building toys
and games to start the day off right. Afternoon Extended Camp
will give campers time to relax and cool down after a busy day.
Campers will participate in games, crafts and sports. Morning
extended Camp truns form 7:00 am to 9:00 am and Afternoon
Extended Camp runs from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Pleae note there
are additional fees for late pickup. Campers must bring a snack
for Extended Camp. Camps will not meet on Friday, July 3.

Registration for Teen Service Learning
Opportunities begins at 8:30 am on
January 20, 2015. Teens must first complete
the Summer Leadership Challenge before
becoming a Junior Counselor next summer.
To participate as a Junior Counselor you
must also register for a Junior Counselor
Orientation session (pick from one of five
classes). Junior Counselors will not be able
to participate over the summer unless
they have attended the mandatory

Summer Leadership Challenge (SLC) Ages 13-16

Summer Leadership Challenge is a leadership development program that encourages exploration, independence, and personal
growth. Young people participate in interactive workshops that prepare them for leadership roles and employment. Our goal is to
empower students to effect positive changes within themselves and within their community. Young people will learn about employment opportunities they can pursue now. They will become competent in leading others in activities and coordinate a capstone
project benefiting young campers. In addition to developing useful skills, participants will earn service learning hours, receive
individual participant evaluations and fulfill pre-requisite needed to become a Junior Counselor. At Summer Leadership Challenge,
young people will establish lasting friendships, develop a sense of responsibility, learn to work more effectively in groups, build
accountability, and gain the confidence to solve problems independently. You may only register for one (1) session of SLC.
Participants may earn up to 35 SSL hours per session. No transportation is available. Program will not meet on Friday, July 3rd.

The Junior Counselor Training is a great opportunity for returning volunteers to build on their
experiences from the previous summer and get ready for a new summer of leadership and
fun. To be eligible to participate in the Junior Counselor Program, you must have successfully
completed the Summer Leadership Challange Program or have been a CIT, Mainstream
Companion or TR Camp Assistant last year. The workshop will focus on leadership skills,
conflict resolution, communication skills and provide an overview of the summer experience
and the expectations for Junior Counselors. This is a mandatory training. Student Service
Learning hours may be earned upon successful completion of the program.

See what it takes to be a camp counselor
by becoming a Junior Counselor! Teens training to
become recreation leaders will assist summer staff in
planning and leading activities for campers such as games,
sports and crafts. Increase your confidence while learning
planning, communication, and leadership skills.
Eligible Junior Counselors must have previously served as a
Junior Counselor, a TR Mainstream Companion, or completed the
Summer Leadership Challenge camp. All registrants must attend the
mandatory Junior Counselor Training. Once training has been completed,
summer program placements will be made based on your skills,
interests, session availability, and location preferences.
Only two Junior Counselors per session will be placed at each site.
Registration is limited to two sessions only.
Student Service Learning hours may be earned upon
successful completion of the program.

JUNIOR MINI CAMPS
A weekly class to keep students involved in golf throughout the season. Each week will
have a different topic and kids will have an opportunity to play and practice golf.
$20 per child each week
Juniors will sign up for a month at a time.

JUNIOR SUMMER CAMPS

Half day Camp: $149
Half day camps are designed for students that arent quite capable of playing a full round
and carrying their bag or are brand new to golf. The half day camp gives juniors the
opportunity to practice on putting, chipping, irons, and woods with a member of the MCG
Academy. This class will be in a practice setting for Monday - Thursday with an on the
course portion on Friday. The perfect class to develop the skills needed to start playing
with family. Clubs are provided as needed at all locations. This class is a blast for juniors
and will send them home wanting more and more golf. Be Careful!
Full day camp: $249 - $349
Full Day Camps are designed for the young golfer in everyones family. Its the ideal
summer camps for juniors that want to get out on the course. This program spends
time playing golf every afternoon and working to improve their skills every morning.
An awesome class thats gets the kids outdoors, gets them some exercise, and gets
them playing a whole lot of golf. Lunch is provided to each student during each day.
Juniors must have experience carrying their bags for a minimum of 9 holes on their
own and they have their own equipment.

STEP 1: SET UP YOUR ParkPASS ACCOUNT
Visit www.ParkPASS.org to set up your account online.
Already have a ParkPASS account? Go right to Step 2.
Please note: New accounts are created Monday-Friday
between 10am and 2pm. If you sign up online outside
these hours, well create your new account and send
your confirmation the next business day between
10am and 2pm.
Need help? Contact the ParkPASS Help Desk at

You may also create a ParkPASS account in person at a
Montgomery Parks facility. See the Camps by Location
index and look for PP ParkPASS facilities that are
equipped to help you.
STEP 2: REGISTER FOR YOUR CAMP/S

Online: Register 24 hours a day, seven days a week at
www.ParkPASS.org
In person: Visit a ParkPASS facility (look for PP next to
a facilitys name in the Camps by Location index), and a
Parks employee will help you register on site.
By mail: Fill out the registration form in this Guide and
mail it with payment to the facility hosting the camp
youd like to attend. *Important: Submitting this form
does not guarantee a space in the requested camp or
program. Please call the ParkPASS Help Desk or the
facility offering the camp to make sure there are openings
in the camp you want before mailing in your form. Many
camps fill up very quicklyso online registration is your
best bet.
STEP 3: F
ILL OUT AND SUBMIT THE
REQUIRED FORMS
Day Camp Participant Profile NOW ONLINE!
In the middle of your online registration process, a screen
will pop up asking for information that will automatically
fill out this form for you. Answer the questions, then
click "OK," and either "continue shopping" or "check
out." Unless otherwise notified, well mail the form to
you for your signature; just mail it to the hosting facility
before camp begins. Once youve filled out the Day Camp
Participant Profile form online, the information will be
saved for two years, so you wont need to fill out this whole
form again. As you register, a screen with the information
entered previously will pop up, and you can update/correct,
or just click "OK." NOTE: If you dont register online, youll
need to print out this form from ParkPASS.org, complete it
by hand and mail it in.
Day Camp Medication Form. Find this form at
ParkPASS.org and print it out. If your child requires
medication during camp, fill out and sign the form, and
have your childs doctor's sign it as well. Even if your
child does not need medication during camp, please sign
the form signifying that you've read it. Unless otherwise
notified, mail the completed, signed form (one per camp)
to each hosting facility.
Special Waiver Forms. Some camps require special activity
waivers. The camp director will contact you before camp
begins if one or more of these forms is required.
All summer camp forms can be found at www.ParkPASS.org.
All necessary forms must be properly filled out, signed
and submitted before your child can participate in a
Montgomery Parks Summer Camp.
Montgomery Parks SUMMER CAMP Refund Policy

If Montgomery Parks has to cancel a Summer Camp, you will be notified and receive a full credit on your
ParkPASS account, or at your request, a full refund (issued in the same form as received).
To withdraw from a Montgomery Parks Summer Camp, please submit a written request to the facility
hosting your camp or program at least two (2) weeks prior to the start of the camp. Most facilities accept
email as a written request, but please check with the facility hosting your camp or program. You may
choose to receive a 100% credit to your ParkPASS account to use for future programs or classes, or receive
a refund (issued in the same form as received) less a 20% administrative fee.
If your written request is received less than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the camp, no credit or
refund will be issued unless your spot can be filled from the waitlist. If your spot is filled, you may choose
to receive a 100% credit to your ParkPASS account to use for future programs or classes, or receive a
refund (issued in the same form as received) less a 20% administrative fee.
Please allow 3-4 weeks to receive a check refund. Credit card refunds can take 5-7 days to appear on your
credit card account, depending on the policies of your bank/credit card company.

Golf Summer Camps

Golf & So Much More!
For kids who want to try golf but don't want to

spend all day at it, this great combo camp will
keep them happy and active all day! With the help
of a Montgomery County Golf Academy instructor, all
campers will practice putting, chipping, driving, and using irons and
woods at the Driving Range (M-Th, 9am-noon). On Friday, everyone
will play nine holes of golf at a nearby course; then full-day campers
will head back for a final fun group activity. Afternoons for full-day
campers will be filled with so much more: tennis, basketball,
kick ball, mini-golf and water fun at South
Germantown Splash Playground. Don't want
so much more? Sign up for a half-day
camp and concentrate on golf!
Fee covers instruction, tees, Nike Golf
balls, and transportation Friday. Full-day
campers will also receive a Nike Golf hat
and Papa John's Pizza for lunch on Friday.
We'll provide clubs for kids who don't
have them. Please bring a non-perishable
lunch and snack, water bottle, sunscreen, and
swimsuit (for full-day campers).
South Germantown Driving Range
Golf & So Much More: FULL-DAY
Beginner/Intermediate Golf Camp
This half-day camp is just the ticket for kids 6-14 years old who have
expressed interest in and/or shown a talent for golf, but arent quite
ready to play a full round. With the help of a Montgomery County
Golf Academy instructor, campers will practice putting, chipping,

Ice Skating & Hockey Summer Camps

Summer Fun Ice Skating Camp
Join us at the coolest camp around! This

full-day camp includes a 30-minute ice
skating lesson with a professional skating
coach, open skating time to practice, arts &
crafts activities, outdoor activities, and much
more. Skaters are grouped according to age
and ability when needed. Rental skates are
included in the camp fee. Please bring a nonperishable lunch (no nut products, please),

e Summer Fun Ice Skating Camp: Extended Care
Extended care is offered before and after camp at Cabin John Ice for
the Summer Fun Ice Skating Camp. Individual days ($8 per morning
session, $12 per afternoon session) can be arranged and paid for in
person at the rink, space permitting. Late pickup fee is $5 for each
15 minutes. Please note: Before-camp extended care (8am-9am) is
also open to children registered for our Outdoor Adventure Camp

Ice Hockey Camp Prerequisite: Passed Hockey 1
If your 6-12 year-olds love hockey, why not treat them to a five-day
hockey camp? We'll focus on skating, stick handling and off-ice
fitness; and incorporate elements of power skating, passing and
shooting, and games to make this a fun-filled week. Plus, each
camper will get a complimentary hockey jersey! Players will be
assigned to groups according to their skill level. Full gear required:
Caged helmet, curved stick cut to skater's height, shin guards,
elbow and shoulder pads, hockey gloves and pants, cup, and hockey
skates. Rental hockey skates are available. Please bring sneakers and
workout clothes for off-ice conditioning, and a snack each day.

Figure Skating Competitions Camp*
Prerequisite: Passed Basic 1
Is your child ready to compete at a figure skating

competition? Give them the opportunity to practice
and prepare for figure skating competitions in this
week-long camp. Skaters will work on jumps, spins,
power skating, and off-ice conditioning, and work
with the instructor to create a short program to
perform. On Friday we'll stage our own minicompetition so they can show everyone what

Synchronized Skating Camp* Prerequisite: Passed Basic
4 Heres an opportunity for skaters to learn the fundamentals of a
fast-growing, really fun team sport! Figure skaters will learn the five
basic elements of synchronized skating: circles, blocks, lines, wheels
and intersections while skating connected. All skaters are invited to
perform in a mini-exhibition the last day of camp.

Freestyle Camp*
This intensive five-day camp is designed for skaters who want to

take their skating to the next level. Freestyle Camp features on-ice
training with specific jump and spin instruction, power skating drills,

Give your kids the opportunity to learn and play two great
sports in one fun-filled camp! Using games, personal instruction and
drills, well teach beginning and intermediate level players the basics
of both sports. At Wheaton Indoor Tennis, well work on forehand,
backhand and overhead strokes; serves and volleys; footwork;
scorekeeping; names and meanings of court lines; footwork drills and
cardio exercise. Then well pick up our sticks and learn lacrosse at
Wheaton Sports Pavilion! Well focus on fundamentals, including stick
skills (throwing, cradling, scooping and shooting); and offensive and
defensive positioning and skills. Each camper will need to bring their
own lacrosse helmet, stick, gloves, cup or pelvic protector, and tennis
shoes or sports cleats. Well send info on a source for rental helmets
and sticks, along with important camp documents, closer to your camp

Geology Merit Badge: Wild Cave Excursion
Come learn about cave formations, cave life, and cave complexities.
On the first day of this two-day excursion, well explore geology in
the classroom through hands-on activities and experiments. Then
on Thursday, well climb, crawl, and twist through passages inside
a wild cave in Shepherdstown, West Virginia! Fee includes van

Cancellation Policy: Montgomery County
Recreation (MCR) holds programs in

Department community, senior and aquatic
centers, public schools, park facilities and
private facilities. The cancellation of MCR
scheduled programs is determined by the
Community Use of Public Facilities (CUPF)
and is announced on WTOP FM 103.5 and
AM 820 and WMAL AM 630. Weekdays and
weekends when schools community activities
are closed due to weather conditions or other
emergencies all programs are cancelled,
regardless of facility. Announcements will
be made on the radio stations noted above.
Community centers and Aquatic centers
will open for drop-in activities as conditions
permit. Please call the centers directly for
information. The MCR program message
line is 240-777-6889. This recording will
be updated regarding cancellations for MCR
classes, activities and sports programs.

Full payment must be made at time of registration. Do not submit registrations and/or
payments to the instructor at the program.
Non-county residents must pay an additional $15.00 per participant per activity.
Make checks and money orders payable to MCR. Checks and money orders must include
name, address, home and work telephone numbers, drivers license number, and participants full name. VISA or MasterCard payments are accepted. Registration form must
include correct credit card number, expiration date, authorized signature, and authorized
amount.
The Department of Recreation reserves the right to pursue all available options to collect
any funds owed as the result of a dishonored check or credit card, charges incurred due to
unsubstantiated credit card disputes, or any outstanding debt.
If your check is returned unpaid, your account will be debited electronically for the original
check amount and electronically or via paper for the states maximum allowable service
fee. Payment by check constitutes authorization of these transactions. You may revoke your
authorization by calling 800-666-5222 ext. 2 to arrange payment due for any outstanding
checks and service fees due.
RecAssist 2015 (financial assistance)

RecAssist is available for up to 12 months January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2015
and is available to county residents who are recipients of assistance from specified Montgomery County agencies. Eligibility is based on proof of that assistance. Use of the RecAssist Fund
is available on a first come, first served based. You may use the amount on your account only
until the RecAssist Fund is used up. Once the RecAssist Fund is used up, you must pay full
price for all registrations, even if you have not used the RecAssist amount on your account.
A 15% co-payment per class or program, per participant, is required at the time of registration.
