Fine-Flex Molded Panel Heater

Heater unit with heating elements integrated with ceramic fiber insulator
that has superior insulating properties and thermal shock resistance
Panel heaters are heater units that incorporate an
integrated heating element, which is processed into
a specific shape during or after molding of the ceramic fiber insulator.

Because panel heaters use electrical heating, temperature control is easy, and they don't generate exhaust gas. Therefore, panel heaters enable clean
heating.

Quality characteristics

In the manufacture of panel heaters, Operating

Temperature (deg C), Voltage (V), and Power Output (kW) are the basic parameters. In the selection
and design of heating elements, the following
points are to be considered, in order to extend service life.

1. Types of panel heater

Maximum Service Temperature: 1200(depends on usage conditions)
Shape: Panel/Half-cylinder/Box/Others
Heating Elements: Metal resistance heaters
(Fe-Cr-Al type, others)

Material: Selected in accordance with operating

temperature and structure. (Usually, Fe-Cr-Al is
used)

Standard Products: Panel, half-cylinder

Non-standard products can also be designed and manufactured in
response to individual needs
For heaters with unusual shapes, mold charges may also arise.

Surface load density (W/cm): Wd=P/A

P: Power(W)
2
A: Surface area of heating element(cm)

2. Embedded structure of heating elements

Current density (A/mm): Id=I/s

I: Current flowing in heating element(A)
2
s: Cross-sectional area of heating element(mm)
2

Output density(kW/m)W=P/S
P: Power(kW)
2
S: Area heated(m)
We also manufacture completely embedded
types and mortar-fixed types.

Cautions for use

When connecting terminals, be careful not to bend or
stress them, and attach them firmly.
Use a free configuration to prevent heating of terminals, and attach terminal covers.
Box panel heater

Example of panel heater application

Apply ample insulation between the panel heater and

supports and the panel heater and furnace casing.
Before the products are shipped, they are sufficiently
dried and packaged. However, heating elements may
oxidize due to moisture absorption and condensation
during storage. Therefore, avoid storing the products
in places with high humidity. Also, if the heating elements absorb moisture, re-dry them, or dry them electrically after heater application, at a temperature between 100 and 200 deg C.
Sudden rises and drops in temperature impose a high
load on heating elements, and accelerate their deterioration due to flaking of oxide film and so on. Therefore,
control the temperature using a thyristor or the like.
Be sure to use gloves when handling panel heaters. If
perspiration etc. contacts the heating elements, it may
shorten their service life.
An atmosphere containing ammonia, sulfur, halogens,
or salts will shorten the life of the heating elements.
Therefore, care is needed. This includes gases produced through decomposition of heated substances.
When discarded, the products are considered industrial waste. Therefore, dispose of them in accordance
with the Law Concerning Disposal and Removal of Industrial Waste.
