Lent is a time of repentance, when we are called to turn away from sin and return to a faith-
ful walk with the Lord. In Hebrew the word for repentance is ‘teshuvah.’ It comes from the
root word ‘shuvah,’ which means ‘to turn,’ like turning the earth to the sun, turning the soil
before planting. This Lenten season, let us turn over the sin dead soil of our hearts. Let us
plant His word deep in fresh soil, so that as we turn our faces to Him we will grow in the
light of His Son.

We had a wonderful celebration of St. Gabriel on his feast day, Feb-
ruary 27. As you can see, we had a gathering of about 70 young
people from Atlanta and Birmingham. Each group gave a presenta-
tion of their choice after the ‘ice-breaker’ games. It was very inter-
esting that the group from St. Joseph, which was the first to present,
and the group from Atlanta, which was the last to present, both car-
ried the same theme. They were presented totally differently, but
with the same idea. That no matter what you do in your life, God is
always there for you in the end.
