Job Title: Box Office Manager


FT, 40-hours, non-exempt

Montalvo Arts Center is seeking an experienced, highly energetic, Box Office Manager to
oversee responsibility for the efficient operation of all Ticket Office activities associated with
the arts center. Working closely with the Deputy Director, this position will oversee all Box
Office operations, ticket sales management and supervision, VIP services, and group sales.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 Recruits, trains, schedules and supervises box office staff – including all evening and weekend
performances. Trains, schedules and supervises box office support volunteers.
 Determines and tracks resolutions to customer service issues.
 Manages and maintains ticketing systems and database; builds events in system in order to sell
tickets and serves as a liaison with Ticketmaster.
 Prepares and reconciles final box office reports and event settlements.
 Reporting and List support for membership, funds development, marketing and finance.
 Creating and maintaining box office procedures.
 Accurately communicates attendance figures.
 Allocates complimentary tickets for artists, press, radio, development, VIP’s, non-profits and
other staff.
 Works with Development and Corporate Relations Directors in assignment and sales of seats for
their clients.
 Maintains good public relations with arts center visitors, guests, volunteers and donors.
 Perform other related duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

 Bachelors Degree and a minimum of 3 years experience with Box Office and ticketing
procedures and operations with a proven track record of successfully managing all Box Office
and ticketing operations.
 Excellent organizational skills with particular attention to detail and capacity to multi-task
under pressure.
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
 Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals. Use independent judgment
and produce a quality product within tight time constraints.
 Ability to implement systems and follow-up processes.
 Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,), and Microsoft Outlook.
 Experience with Ticketmaster and Archtix software preferred.

Working Conditions & Physical Tasks:


Typical office environment. Ability to remain seated at a computer workstation for extended periods.
Some local travel necessary; valid driver’s license and access to own vehicle required. May need to
stand or bend to perform program support tasks. Position requires some evening/weekend availability.
