GENERAL INFORMATION
The Manager, International Admissions Management sits within UON Global, a unit located in the
International and Advancement Division.
Under the NeW Directions Strategic Plan 2013-2015, the University of Newcastle (UON) aspires to be
a global leader in every sphere of achievement. An inaugural Global Partnership Plan (GPP), which
aims to manage reputation and performance was devised in December 2013.
Under the consultation paper of NeW Futures 2016-2025, the capability of the Universitys global
operation is critical in delivering the GPP and enabling the achievement of the following five plans:
Research and Innovation; Education, Global Reputation, Engaged Workforce; and Financial
Sustainability; in collaboration with all faculties and divisions, in collegiality and with competence.
The core remit of UON Global is enabling and achieving designated KPIs in a sustainable and
strategic manner, in partnership with the academic and professional core of the University.
The Manager, International Admissions Management is accountable for the delivery of efficient and
robust admissions and enquiry management systems, increasing quality articulation partners; and
ongoing improvement and effort in efficient and effective cross-unit liaison and co- ordination.
The International Admissions Management team are higher education professionals focused on the
processes, rules and activities relating to international student applications into University of Newcastle
(UON) programs, from the point at which an enquiry is made by a potential international student
through to acceptance of an offer. The managers priorities are to:

Enhance student attraction, conversion and retention;

Expand, extend and enhance student experience and success initiatives (contributing to
UONs value proposition);

Identify, develop and support institutional partnerships; and

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

The position is available on a full-time, continuing basis.

Ability to work outside hours (overtime / weekends) for travel, student


activities and events.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Holds a postgraduate qualification or progress towards postgraduate qualifications


and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and management
expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or
education/training.

Demonstrated expertise in the use of core University systems, such as those that
exist for information and analytics (MIS; NINA), student administration (NUSTAR)
and finance (TechOne).

Clear, proven understanding of the international education market including


thorough knowledge of university policies and external environment

A thorough understanding of the educational value of a diverse and inclusive community

Proven capacity to develop and implement plans to achieve defined outcomes.

High level oral and written communication skills, including cross-cultural sensitivity
and the ability to facilitate formal presentations.

Highly-developed problem-solving skills, the ability to work individually on tasks


and collaboratively in a team environment, and the ability to develop and maintain
effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Highly-developed organisational skills, including the ability to manage multiple


complex tasks with competing deadlines.

Demonstrated extensive experience working at a senior level in


administration or customer service.

Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in


the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful
workplace culture

CONDITIONS AND BENEFITS


HEW Level 8 - $89,365 to $104,293 per annum. Salary level within this range will be dependent on the
qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Compulsory contributory superannuation is a
condition of employment plus generous employer contribution of 17%.
