-Remember Newamelt grease is near garbage handling room, A-deck aft, and
one oil drum is in FWD bossun store
-Daily routine check FW hydrophore level
-During pump/out clean drain use overboard v/v on No. 1 fire g/s pump discharge
line (black one under angle), other one is hard to open
-Regularly check stern tube FWD seal tank level, usually weekly refill if necessary
-When MSD Pack bacteria is received on board, every week take two bags and
drop them into the toilet bowls, one in your cabin, the other one on C-deck
common toilet, even though plastic bags from MSD packs are bio degradable
better open the bag and pour content (powder) into the bowl and plastic bag in
garbage
-Avoid LO purifier heater no.2 hammering by increasing temperature 78-82
degrees C.
-When Baigen lux chlorine is received on board refill the drink water injection unit
reservoirs, at the same time add drinking water minerals which must be
dissolved in water before adding.
-For the Oil record book consult C/E whether to entry under I or C-11.4 when
some collected oil is to be poured in dirty oil tank
-Before every port update overboard valve seal number list
-Weekly fill the File 6.5 periodical checks, this is regarded to lifeboats, emergency
fire pumps etc, file is located on shelf in ships office
-Weekly testing of bilge alarms is done on Saturday by duty oiler, notice bilge
alarm is emergency fire pump compartment is received in CCR but you can
check it and accept on monitor extension ECR console (near boiler monitors)
-Daily drain the water from the compressors discharge line
-Daily routine drain Defecon and if needed punch it with the supplied wire
located on Defecon cover handle
-Monthly routine open Defecon and clean the soil and deposits, large chunks put
in rag and throw in garbage, small amounts wash down to the bilges (done by
oiler)
-Dont refill waste oil service tanks over 2.5m3
-When incinerating garbage check that oilers dont initially overload the furnace
by volume, usual amount should be under the height of main burner, also check
the separation of garbage, do not allow plenty oil rags, rags from painting to
burn in one batch otherwise gas furnace controller will register overheat fast.
-Daily or weekly fill up air seal record sheet and stern tube log, located in 3AE
folder on desktop

-When receiving spare parts for sewage, put them in the store on upper deck
across refrigeration compressor room, same locker electrician is using for storage
-When installing new toilet bowl membrane grease it up with Vaseline to prevent
drying up rubber which would happen if toilet is not in use for long time
-Add coolant if necessary to lifeboat engines, rescue boat is 2AE responsibility
-After installing new spare parts for MGPS, be sure to take out inlet SW strainer
and clean it if necessary, location above fwd bilge well stbd
-Once per month do start/stop sequence for st/by purifier as well as for DO
purifier in order to prevent seizing up, also sludge discharge line of purifiers
which are not in use keep closed to prevent fumes to come up and cause
corrosion and seize
-LO chart for the machinery use is laminated and posted in ECR behind computer
on the bulkhead for quick reference
-Weekly check LO store in steer. gear room to ensure that there is no opened
pails in the new/sealed pales section
-Instruct oilers to regularly clean the bilge pump strainer and bilge wells
strainers as well as to thoroughly prime the pump before starting, one pump
stator was destroyed in dry dock, leaving the pump with poor suction inside
rubber coating of stator was burned and deformed
-Once per month instruct oiler to take out DO strainer on Incinerator and to clean
-Check regularly and clean if necessary ignitor, flame eye, main burner and
thermo couple, take care of thermo couple when cleaning it is ceramic coated
(easily damageable)
-Check regularly and clean if necessary 15ppm cell and filter
-When incinerating report to the bridge starting and stoping time of incineration
as well as amount of garbage incinerated, example garbage started incineration
15/05/2015 @ 09:00, garbage incineration stopped 15/05/2015 @ 16:00, total
amount incinerated 1.5m3 of which domestic 1.2m3 and plastic 0.3m3
-Every day after finish filling log book and water record book, oiler is to take log
to chief engineer cabin drawer, water record book is filled up by 2AE only
-OWS printing paper is in white carton box on the shelf near smartsafe box in
ECR
-MOL seals are located near log printer ECR stbd
-Upper deck store is of 1AE (expendables, silicon, Vaseline, isolation tape, some
tools etc)
-C deck store is of C/O (boiler suits, shoes, goggles)
-D deck store is of 1/0 (office supplies, pencils, copy paper etc)
-D deck store another one is of C/E (log books, ORB.s etc)
