Angul: An Introduction

Angul, a centrally located District in the State of Orissa came into existence on April 1,
1993. The district covers a geographical area of 6232 square kilometers and supports a
population of about 11.40 lakhs. It is although new but strategically most advanced district
because it gives highest return of revenue to the Government due to vast coalmines located
in its abode. Big industries like National Aluminium Company (NALCO), Mahanadi
Coalfields Limited (MCL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Heavy Water Plant,
Talcher, Indian Aluminium Product Ltd. etc. are situated in the district. The great natural
resources and beauties like Satakosia Gorge over river Mahanadi, famous Budhi Thakurani
& Lord Jagannath Temple, the unique puppet dance "RavanChhaya signify the rich
culture and tradition of this district.

Angul is well connected in terms of Road & Rail. Angul is about 150 km from Bhubaneswar
and 150 km from Sambalpur by road. The nearest airport is in Bhubaneswar. All the trains
running in between Bhubaneswar Sambalpur passes through Angul station.

Angul Campus.
JSPL, Angul is coming up with a mega township project with modern well-equipped
Hospital, International standard school, state of the art gymnasium, indoors and
outdoor sports facility. To keep employees moral high, company organizes various kinds
of events like get-together, musical shows, art of living classes etc. The banking facility
with Axis Bank and post office are available inside the campus.

1. A proposed 10+ 2 co- educational O.P.Jindal School affiliated to C.B.S.E. Board along
with an auditorium is coming with township project.

General guidance for Graduate Engineer Trainees

1. All GETs would be probably provided with air-conditioned accommodation on a twinsharing basis along with Bed, Mattress and Pillow. You are advised to preferably bring
Linen blanket, bed sheet and Pillow cover.
2. Food would be provided in the hostel mess at subsidized rates.
3. Any valuables brought by you will be totally on your own responsibility only.
4. No leave will be granted during the training period except exigencies, as the GETs have
to go through a very structured induction program & training.
5. Any relatives or parents accompanying the GETs at the time of joining have to make
their own arrangements for boarding & lodging. However, you may book your
reservations in hotels at Angul. Details of some hotels are given below:

6. Traveling Details:
You will be reimbursed III AC train fare for your joining at Angul.
Pick up facility from Angul station will be arranged by the company on the
basis of your intimation of arrival with Train Name, Train No and Date of
Arrival at Angul.
