Warning

Theprinterweighsapproximately31lb(14kg).Whenmovingthe
printer,liftinawaythatavoidsexcessivephysicalstress.Lifting
recklesslyordroppingtheprintercouldcauseinjury.

Locatetheprinterasclosetoanoutletaspossible,andalloweasy
accesstounplugthepowercordincaseofproblems.

Ifthereisdustontheplug,cleanitoffthoroughly.Itcouldcause
electricchockorashortout.

Ifmetalobjectsofliquidshavefallenintotheprinter,andthereis
smoke,astrangeodor,oranyotherapparentabnormality,
immediatelyturnthepowerOFF,andunplugthepowercord.Then
contactaservicerepresentative.Donotcontinueusingtheprinterifit
isNOToperatingproperly.Thiscouldcauseshock,shortcircuit,orfire.

Besuretoattachtheground.Otherwisetheprintercouldshortcircuit
causingelectricshockorfire.

Donotplugorunplugthecordwithwethands.Thiscouldcause
electricshock.

Donotopentheinsideoftheprinter,disassembleinternalparts,or

contactaservicerepresentative.

coulddiscolorordeterioratethecover.
Atleastonceayear,unplugthepowercord,andcleantheprongsand
theplug.Ifdustaccumulates,itcouldcauseafire.
Whenprintingcontinuouslyforlongperiodsoftimeinasmallroom,
besuretoventilateproperly.
Ifuseisintendedonatransportationvehicle(train,truck,ship,etc.),
pleasetalktoarepresentativeinadvance.
Whendisposingoftheprinter,peripheralitems,packaging,ormedia,
pleaseabidebylocalwasteremovalordinances.Fordetails,contact
yourlocalgovernmentoffices.
Whenunpluggingthecord,griptheplug.Donotpullonthecord.It
coulddamagethecord,andcauseelectricshockorfire.
Whenmovingtheprinter,besuretounplugthepowercord.
Otherwise,thecordmaybedamaged,whichcouldcausefireor
electricshock.
Whennotusingtheprinterforextendedperiodsoftime,forthesake
ofsafety,besuretounplugthepowercord.Itcouldcauseelectric

Setting up the Scrap Box

Caution

Whenthescrapboxisremoved,donotinsertyourfingersinthecutter.
Theycouldbutcutorsevered.
Asprintsarecut,thescrapboxfillswithscrappaper.Besuretoempty
itwhenyouchangethepaperandribbon.Ifitbecomesoverfilledwith
scraps,itcouldcauseproblemswiththeprinter.
Exchangethepaperandribbonasaset,toavoiderrors.

Setting the Paper Tray


1. AttachthePaperTraytotheScrapBox.

*Thetraycanholdabout50photos,butpleaseremovethemfrequently.

Caution

Allowingtoomanyphotostoaccumulateorusingwithpapersizesother
thanLorPCcancauseerrorsordamagetothetray.
Usecarewhenattachingthepapertray,thereisapossibilityof
damagingthetrayiftoomuchforceisused.

Solving Media Errors


1. ReleasetheOpenLever,andopenthefrontcover.
2. Removetheribbon.
a. Ifthepaperisjammed:
1. Pulloutanypaperremainingintheprinter,andcutoffanywrinkledorpartiallyprinted
areasevenlywithscissors.Printingoveranareathathasalreadybeenprinteduponwill
maketheribbonstick,andthepaperwilljamagain.
Whenpullingthepaperout,pullitslowly.Applicationoftoomuchforcecandamagethe
printer.

2. Cuttingthepaper:

Ifthepaperisnotcutevenly,itmaycauseabnormalprintingand/orthepapertojam.
Thenfollowthesectiononsettingthemedia(p.14).

b. Iftheribboniscutorbroken:
1. Removeanyribbonremainingintheprinter.

2. Removeanyincompleteprints.Ifthenextimageisprintedoverthepreviousimage,the
ribbonmaystick,andcausethepapertojam.
3. Reattachtheribbonwithcellophane(orsimilar)tape.

4. Settheribbonintotheprinter
5. Rotatethetakeupsideoftheribbonseveraltimesuntilthetapeisoutofsight.

1. TurnthepowerbackON.Freethejammedpaperandreturnthecutterbladetothe
readyposition.

2. Removeanypartiallyprintedmaterialfrominsidetheprinter.
3. Followthesectiononsettingthemedia(p.14).

CleaningthePrinter
Platen Roller
Ifthereisanindentonthepicturesataregularinterval,ofifthebackofthepicture(whiteside)isdirty,
cleantheplatenroller.Theremaybedust,grime,adhesives,etc.fromtheribbonorpaperontheroller.
1. Prepareapieceofgauzeorothersoftclothsoakedinethylalcohol.
Benzenesorthinnersotherthanethylalcoholmaypermeatetheresin,andshouldNOTbeused.
2. Wipeoffanygrimewhileturningtheplatenroller.

Thermal Print Head


Whendirthascontaminatedtheprinthead,theinkmayadhereunevenlyoradherepoorly.
1. Prepareapieceofgauzeorothersoftclothsoakedinethylalcohol.
2. Wipethethermalprintheadgently,withouttouchingthethermalprintheaddirectly.
3. Whendirtcannotberemoved,wipethesurfaceaboutfivetimesbackandforthwithapolishing
sheet(suggestedpolishingsheet:JapanMicrocoatingpolishingfilmGC#10000)

Caution

Neverusebenzenesorthinnersotherthanethylalcohol,astheymay
permeatetheresinoftheroller.
Beforecleaning,alwaysturnOFFtheprinter.Otherwise,thereisa
possibilityofbecomingcauses,suchasaninjuryand/orburn.
ThethermalprintheadwillbeHOTjustafterprinting.Pleasewaitfor
theprintheadtocooloffbeforeattemptingcleaning.
