2. DESCRIPCION
El presente curso forma parte de los cuatro niveles de lengua extranjera (ingls) que ofrece la
Universidad Surcolombiana a los estudiantes de todos sus programas acadmicos de pregrado
(con excepcin del Programa de Lenguas Extranjeras Ingls). Fue aprobado mediante el
acuerdo 015 del 10 de junio de 2003, est dirigido a aquellos estudiantes que no poseen un nivel
suficiente de ingls que les permita certificar sus conocimientos a travs de otros medios.
Est orientado a desarrollar la competencia comunicativa correspondiente al nivel A2 establecido
por el marco comn europeo. Se enfoca hacia el desarrollo de las cuatro habilidades lingsticas
(escucha, habla, lectura y escritura), as como la adquisicin de los componentes lexicales,
gramaticales y fonolgicos los cuales se enmarcan dentro de contextos comunicativos
3. JUSTIFICACION
Hoy en da el aprendizaje del ingls ya no se considera ms como un simple requisito escolar sino
como una gran necesidad para cada estudiante sin importar en que rea busque especializarse en
el futuro. El ingls se constituye en una herramienta esencial para mantenerse actualizado en este
mundo globalizado, donde las barreras de la distancia son cada vez menores.

Dado que el conocimiento cultural es una parte integral tanto del aprendizaje de una lengua
como de la comunicacin exitosa, los estudiantes necesitan ser conscientes de la existencia de
culturas extranjeras y tradiciones diferentes a las suyas. A travs del aprendizaje del ingls los
estudiantes pueden tener acceso a fuentes de conocimiento ms grandes en campos tales como la
tecnologa, la investigacin, el humanismo, etc. Este curso ofrece los aspectos bsicos del
idioma ingls a travs un enfoque comunicativo y desarrolla la competencia comunicativa de los
estudiantes en relacin con las habilidades de habla, escucha, lectura y escritura de tal forma que
puedan expresar sus propias ideas e interactuar con otras personas de manera significativa y para
propsitos de vida real. La gramtica y el vocabulario se consideran como herramientas
cruciales para la comunicacin efectiva.
A travs del trabajo desarrollado en clase los estudiantes conocern diferentes estrategias para
llegar a ser aprendices ms independientes durante el curso de estudio y finalmente durante el
resto de sus vidas. Se espera que el estudiante muestre tambin sensibilidad y comprensin hacia
las convenciones sociales en la lengua objeto y sea ms humano en cuanto al aprecio de una
lengua extranjera y la cultura.

Can recognize core vocabulary items when encountered in a variety of texts on
familiar topics, and I can use them to carry out communicative tasks
(educational and fields of study, sports and abilities, celebrations and dates,
adjectives of personality, leisure activities, geographical futures and animals,
traveling, health an aliments and injuries, appliances and devices)
Can use simple grammatical structures correctly in oral and written
communicative contexts. (past simple regular and irregular verbs- adverbs of
manner, future tenses going to , present progressive -,modals verbs can,
could, will, may, would, should- comparative and superlative forms, reported
speech, infinitive of purpose.)

COMPETENCIAS PRAGMATICA Y SOCIOLINGUISTICA

Aural comprehension
Can get the gist and specific details of short conversations and extracts of
radios programs on familiar topics by using different ways of interpreting

the aural text such as: multiple choice, true / false statements, note taking,
labeling / numbering or ordering pictures.
Reading comprehension
Can understand gist and specific information in simple every day written
materials such as extract from books, brochures and magazine articles.
Speaking/Interaction
Can communicate in simple tasks requiring and simple exchange of
information on familiar topics such as past events, famous athletes, future
plans, comparing two places and vacations experiences.
Writing/composition
Can write short simple tasks such as filling a form, writing the story of
famous athlete, sending e-mails, writing a brochure about their country,
writing to a magazine problem page.

The student is open to other societies and cultures, is interested in sharing

new experiences and respects other peoples ideas.
