HF ELECTROSURGICAL UNIT

SURTRON
FLASH 200

The HF electrosurgical unit SURTRON FLASH 200 allows of to effect monopolar and bipolar electrosurgery.
The equipment can be used either with delivery time equal to that of activation of the output circuit, or with
programmable delivery time in the range from 1 ms up to 999 ms.
The programmed current pulse can be single or repeated by 1 to 250 times each second.
The presetting of the supply time can have effected both in the monopolar and bipolar mode of operation.
SURTRON FLASH 200 has a unit designed and produced by LED SpA, UNI EN ISO 9001 and UNI CEI EN 46001
certified firm.
Destination of use
The use of HF electro surgical equipment SURTRON FLASH 200 has reserved to specialized medical personnel. The
equipment has destined to a temporary use, for surgical operations in emergency room or hospital. It has foreseen its use
in the monopolar cut, cut coagulated or coagulation mode or in bipolar coagulation mode.
The technical solutions related to the deliverable currents make the unit advisable for the followings fields of use:

Programmed supply of output power

The planning of the times of delivery and pause times allows to reduce the biological damage due to the treatment. This
permit:
to get samples for biopsy with reduced modification of the sample itself and reduced thermal damage to the tissue
object of the collecting;
to finish the coagulation automatically both in monopolar and bipolar mode of operation;
to perform treatments of micro oculistics or dermatological surgery.
Output power
For every method of use the level of the output power can be carefully preset with resolution as low as 1 Watt. This,
together to the possibility of timed delivery, allows the use of the equipment also for procedures requiring high
precision like oculistics or dermatology. For examples for treatments of telangiectasis, spider nevus etc.
The delivered output power is watched by microcontroller that prevents its level from being different of the preset
value.
Cut and Coagulated cut
The CUT mode delivers either pure sine current, that means current with no coagulating property, or current with
presettable degree of modulation, that allows four different values of crest factor with as many different degrees of
coagulation.
The value of the duty cycle of the delivered current has shown by bright digital display.
At the beginning of every cycle of modulation of the coagulated cut current, a peak of momentary higher voltage is
present that allows to improve the start of the cut by keeping track of the different impedance of the skin's surface.
The output of the cutting or of the coagulated-cutting current can be activated by handle or by pedal.
Mixed current
The BLEND mode delivers a special current for coagulated cut that allows to effect coagulated cut in total absence of
side carbonization.
This current, made by mixing cutting current and low voltage coagulating current (soft), it is particularly suitable to the
use in endoscopic surgery for procedures like polypectomy, prostatic resection (TURP), papillary resection, uterine
resection, endometrial ablation, etc.
Superficial coagulation
The FORCED COAG mode delivers the current traditionally used for coagulation, or rather sine current modulated in
such a way to get relatively high crest factor. It is characterized for its elevated coagulative power and suited for
superficial coagulation with production of moderate carbonization and eschara.
Deep coagulation
The SOFT COAG mode delivers low voltage sine current and therefore not suited to cut or to superficial coagulation
but useful to desiccate and to effect deep coagulation with very small necrosis of tissue. Using this type of current does
not produce carbonization and one gets more ready recovery than with other kinds of current.
Minimum Invasive Surgery
BIPOLAR COAG allows the use of bipolar forceps (using the adapter Ref.00498.04) for low voltage precise bipolar
coagulation. Minimum invasive surgery is also obtainable by the possibility to automatically alternate the delivery of
current with pauses, so to dissipate the heat produced for every active interval. To preset the expire time for the current
delivery automatically is also allowed.
Safety time of current delivery
After 10 seconds of continuous current delivery, an intermittent bright signal suggests to the operator to end the
operation in way to reduce the damage due to overheating to the patient. The delivery of current has interrupted
automatically, after a time depending from the delivered power and from the operative mode in use, if, despite the
warning signal, the current delivery has maintained for so long time that can be dangerous. In these circumstances,
besides the bright signal, an acoustic warning to the operator is given.

Memorization of work conditions

The operational mode and the power level used in the last session are proposed automatically when the unit is switched
on for a new operation. Nine operative conditions more, can have stored and recalled by the operator.
Self analysis
Every time that the unit has turned on, an automatic control of its functionality and the conditions of the connected
accessories is effected and lacks of conformity signaled by coded messages.
Neutral electrode
The unit can use both neutral plates with single sector as well neutral plates split in two sectors.
Through a particular electronic circuit SKIN PLATE ELECTRONIC CONTROL the value of the impedance of the
circuit of the neutral electrode, and skin to plate contact, is shown to the operator which confirms the validity of it. The
value of impedance accepted is continually watched by the equipment's microcontroller and, if it changes more than
40%, the output of current is interdicted and an acoustic and bright signal warns the operator while the actual value of
impedance is shown.
