The
problems
faced
by
West
End
residents
stem
from
the
closure
of
Shandwick
Place
to
private
and
commercial
vehicles.
It
is
important
to
make
reference
to
one
or
all
of
the
points
below.
These
points
refer
to
changes
we
would
like
to
see
made
to
existing
proposals,
which
would
address
the
problems
being
faced
by
the
West
End
and
Moray
Feu:
i. That
Shandwick
Place
should
be
re‐opened
to
private
and
commercial
vehicles
on
a
24‐
hour
basis
in
order
to
relieve
the
pressure
of
the
high
levels
of
displaced
traffic
on
the
residential
areas
of
the
West
End
and
Moray
Feu.
ii. That
Shandwick
Place
should
be
opened
to
private
and
commercial
vehicles
during
the
nighttime
hours
and
that
heavy
goods
vehicles
are
banned
from
using
the
residential
areas
of
the
West
End
and
Moray
Feu
route
during
these
hours.
iii. That
Hope
Street
is
opened
to
two‐way
traffic
in
order
to
relieve
the
pressure
of
the
high
levels
of
displaced
traffic
on
the
residential
area
of
the
Moray
Feu.
iv. That
a
20mph
speed
limit
be
placed
on
Randolph
Crescent/Great
Stuart
Street/Ainslie
Place
to
improve
pedestrian
safety,
and
reduce
the
noise
impact
of
heavy
vehicles
travelling
over
the
setts.
v. That
northbound
traffic
from
Lothian
Road
be
directed
down
Queensferry
Street
during
the
same
traffic
light
phase
that
allows
eastbound
traffic
to
turn
right
into
Princes
Street
and
then
left
into
South
Charlotte
Street,
as
is
proposed.
This
would
not
have
a
major
impact
upon
TIE's
plans.
The Traffic\
The
Traffic
Sub
Committee
has
undertaken
studies
on
traffic,
noise
and
pollution
levels
that
demonstrate
real
cause
for
concern.
You
may
also
wish
to
address
these
quality
of
life
concerns
that
have
arisen
as
a
result
of
the
temporary
traffic
order
changes:
• The
increase
in
general
traffic
numbers
and
the
use
of
the
Feu
route
by
heavy
goods
vehicles
• Concern
over
the
likelihood
of
increased
pollution
levels
and
the
Council’s
failure
to
monitor
these
properly
• The increase in noise levels during both the daytime and the night time
It
is
important

your

This
is
to

that
each

received
counts
as
an
individual
submission.
You
may
also
wish
to
include
your
own
experiences
of
the
problems
being
faced.
