Prior to the installation

This installation guide is provided by SAS Denmark as part of a unique way of
packaging, distributing and installing our software to students in Denmark and
Iceland. The software used is official software, however it has been modified in an
unofficial manner to reduce the size of it. Therefore, you might experience things that
deviate from our official documentation which can be found at support.sas.com.
Installing 9.4 on a Windows 7 Home Premium
After updating the educational analytical suited bundle to 9.4, you might get an error
trying to install the SAS 9.4 on a Windows 7 Home Premium:
http://support.sas.com/kb/50/505.html
We are currently working on getting this fixed, as soon as possible.

Read this carefully

First, make sure you have the correct files. If you had a choice between downloading
the 32-bit or 64-bit version of SAS, make sure that your operating system
corresponds to the version downloaded. You can check your Windows environment
by following this Microsoft article
How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of
the Windows operating system
The screenshots in this guide are from a Windows 7 64-bit installation. Certain
screenshots and names of paths and files and might differ slightly from yours. The
names which will be referenced in the rest of the document are:
- Installation files:
SAS_9.4_Software_Depot_Win64.part1.exe
SAS_9.4_Software_Depot_Win64.part2.rar
(the files above are connected and should reside in the same folder)
- License
SAS94_99RM7B_70084989_Win_X64_Wrkstn.txt
- Software Depot
C:\SAS_9.4_Software_Depot_Win64
- File names in general

Page 3/17/

If you are wondering why we are referencing Install.bat or license.txt and you
only see the file names without ".bat" or ".txt" it is because file extensions for
common file types are hidden on your computer. If you wish to enable them, follow
this Microsoft Article:
Show or hide file name extensions
Before you start the installation, it is recommended that you close any applications
that are already running. This is primarily because there is a chance that you will
have to restart the computer along the way. Moreover, antivirus programs running in
the background can cause problems as they may e.g. lock files needed during the
installation.
