Welcome to Non-Native Arabic Speaker Course


The Arabic language represents a particularly important tool for all the Muslims because it is the language of the
Holy Quran. Based on this importance, the Arabic School-UTM established Arabic language courses for
non-native speakers. Due to the Arabic language is substantial for Muslims to read and understand the Holy
Quran and the significant role in the exchange of knowledge and get to know other cultures, and civilizations, this
course will try to serve UTMs student and staff and all those who desire to join Arabic course.
The Curriculum
A comprehensive and simplified Arabic curriculum for Non-Arabic native speakers is adopted. The curriculum is
mainly depends on conversation which qualify the trainee to be a good Arabic speaker. The curriculum contains
readable and audible multimedia tools such (books and voice files) to practice and memorize as much as of
practical Arabic words.
Objectives of the Arabic Courses for Non-Arabic Native Speakers
Teaching the targeted students in an educational environment, which includes all several levels, and this can be
done through:
Providing study and learning of fluent Arabic language for who wish to attend/non Arabic mother tongue.
Academic Education:
Targeted students will get the basic learning skills through the study of curricula and syllabuses for
students.
Religious Education:
Instilling and strength faith in Allah, build up spirituality and humanity, and pride of belonging to Islam
and the Islamic and Arab nation through the curriculum and the educational process.
Cultural Education:
To provide a greater awareness of students towards different cultures through the exchange of cultures
among Arab students and other students.
Benefit from specialized educational cadres in the UTM, in teaching students. These cadres include staff,
postgraduate students, and some of postgraduate students spouse who have good experience in the
educational field.
Providing the educational services with nominal fees commensurate the potential financial budget of UTM
students.

The Courses Types and Durations


Arabic School-UTM will provide two types of courses for Non-Arabic native speakers, Intensive and Normal
courses. The intensive course period is one month (four lectures per week, and 2 hours and a quarter per lecture),
while the normal program is divided into three stages (beginner, intermediate, advanced) and each stage consists
of two levels. The duration of two months per level (sixteen lecture). One lecture will extend to 2 hours and a
quarter. There will be four short exams through each level, and a final exam for the whole level, followed by a final
exam between each stage and the other.
This can be shown in Table 1. Evaluation will be performed to determine students levels.
The Fees
For Normal Course (each level is two months) fee: RM 200 for UTM student and RM 300 for others. This can be
shown in Table 1.

For Intensive Course (December), fees: RM One hundred only (RM 100), on the occasion of the opening of the
Non-Arabic native speakers. This can be shown in Table 2.
