TIBCO Administration Domain

To allow smooth installation (and uninstallation) of TIBCO products, and to give

focus to the TIBCO Administrator monitoring and management activities, TIBCO
products are installed into a TIBCO administration domain. This section gives an
overview of administration domains. A more detailed discussion is included in
TIBCO BusinessWorks Concepts.

TIBCO Administration Domain Architecture

A TIBCO administration domain is a collection of users, machines, and TIBCO
software components. The administration domain is monitored and managed by
the TIBCO Administration Server in conjunction with a TIBCO Runtime Agent
(TRA) that runs on each machine. Components within an administration domain
can communicate with systems outside the domain, but the administration
domain is the administrative boundary of an enterprise integration project.
Figure 1 illustrates an administration domain and its contents.

Information

A TIBCO administration domain consists of these elements, numbered

correspondingly in Figure 1:
1. TIBCO Administration Server—Each administration domain has one TIBCO
Administration Server.

2. Components—Component software includes the TIBCO BusinessWorks

engine and adapters.
3. Machines—Each TIBCO administration domain contains one or more
machines. A machine can be added to an administration domain when a
TIBCO BusinessWorks component or adapter is installed on that machine. By
default, all machines within an administration domain are expected to be in
the same network subnet. It is, however, possible to use TIBCO Rendezvous
rvrd if a project needs to be available across subnets. See that TIBCO
Administrator Server Configuration Guide for more options.
4. User and Access Information—User and authorization information is
specified with the TIBCO Administrator GUI and stored in the domain data
store. See Security below.
5. Projects—A project is created and deployed with the TIBCO Designer GUI.
Once deployed, the project becomes visible in the TIBCO Administrator GUI
and its components can be started, stopped, and monitored from there.

Security
The TIBCO Administration Server supports centralized authentication and
authorization. Using the TIBCO Administrator GUI, users with full
administrative privileges can define which users should have access to which part
of the system.
• Authentication—The verification of the identity of a person or process.
• Authorization—Permission to view or execute. An administrator gives users
access rights to the functionality of the product they need. For example, access
rights are given to view or to write to projects at design time from TIBCO
Designer or to view or to manage modules from the TIBCO Administrator
console. The TIBCO Administration Server controls that access.
TIBCO Administrator supports authentication and authorization for both data
stores (repositories) and components (process engines or adapters) in the
administration domain. For example, only authorized users may create and save
a server-based project to the domain data store. Only authorized users may start
or stop process engines or adapters. This fine-grained user authorization scheme
allows administrators to customize the system to a company’s needs.
TIBCO Administrator also supports roles to facilitate user management.

Installation and Setup of TIBCO Domain Products

When a TIBCO product is installed on a machine that does not yet belong to a
TIBCO administration domain, the installer prompts whether the product should
join an existing TIBCO administration domain or whether the installer should
create a new TIBCO administration domain.

Joining a Domain
If you join a domain, you can then deploy projects from that machine using
TIBCO Designer.

If you have the appropriate permissions, TIBCO Designer can open the project
from any machine on the network. It is not necessary that you run TIBCO
Designer on a machine inside the administration domain.

After the project has been deployed, privileged users can view or manage the
deployment via the TIBCO Administrator GUI.

Creating an Administration Domain

When you instruct the installer to create an administration domain, it
automatically installs the TIBCO Administration Server on the machine on which
you are currently installing the product. Afterwards, other TIBCO products can
join the domain and benefit from the monitoring and management capabilities of
the TIBCO Administration Server.

Installation Overview 5
|

Installation Overview

You can install different products in the TIBCO BusinessWorks product suite (and
different adapters) on different machines in your TIBCO administration domain.

By default, all machines within an administration domain are expected to be in

the same network subnet. You can, however, set up your system to use TIBCO
Rendezvous rvrd, and you can then use TIBCO BusinessWorks across subnets.
See the document TIBCO Administrator Server Configuration.

TIBCO Home
When you install the first TIBCO product on a machine, the installer prompts you
for a TIBCO Home directory (default is, e.g., c:\tibco). After you have specified
this directory, all other TIBCO products are installed in the same location. It is not
possible to change that location.

No white spaces are allowed for the name of the TIBCO Home directory.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Product Suite

The TIBCO BusinessWorks product suite consists of several products that each
provide distinct functionality to the TIBCO BusinessWorks environment. Table 1
describes each component and its purpose.

Table 1 TIBCO BusinessWorks Product Suite

Product Purpose
TIBCO Runtime Agent The TRA actually consists of two parts:
(TRA)
• A software library required by TIBCO products. The library includes
both TIBCO products, e.g. TIBCO Rendezvous, and third-party
products.
• An agent that provides basic connectivity between TIBCO products.
TRA communicates with the TIBCO Administration Server.
TRA is required on any machine on which a TIBCO BusinessWorks
component or fully integrated adapter is installed. If you install a
component on a machine and the correct version of TRA is not found on
that machine, it is installed automatically.

Table 1 TIBCO BusinessWorks Product Suite

Product Purpose
TIBCO Designer Design-time environment for configuring TIBCO Adapters, creating
automated business process definitions, and deploying projects.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Provides the runtime service for executing process definitions created
Process Engine with TIBCO Designer. The engine creates instances of process definitions
and runs them automatically.

TIBCO Administrator Provides a central administration server for storing and managing
projects created and deployed with TIBCO Designer. You can access the
administrative functionality by way of a web browser.

In addition to these base components, TIBCO Adapters can be added to the

administration domain. TIBCO Adapters provide connectivity to various
application environments such as Siebel (TIBCO Adapter for Siebel) or SAP R/3
(TIBCO Adapter for R/3). A TIBCO Adapter transforms data and messages from
a specific application platform into TIBCO BusinessWorks messages that the
business process can receive and understand.

TIBCO Adapter products are part of a TIBCO BusinessWorks environment, but

they are purchased and installed separately from TIBCO BusinessWorks.

Installation Overview 7
|

Products Included with the TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.0 Installation

The following products are included with the TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.0
installation:
• TIBCO BusinessWorks engine and palettes 2.0
• TIBCO Designer 4.1.3
• TIBCO Administrator 2.0.0
• TRA 1.0.71 (see the TRA readme.txt for a list of products included with
TRA).

An automatic upgrade is performed by the installer if the major and minor

version of a product in a suite did not change. For example, when you install
TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.0, the installer automatically upgrades TIBCO Designer
4.1.2 to TIBCO Designer 4.1.3.
If major or minor version differ, the installer prompts whether you wish to
upgrade, and informs you that incompatible products are on your system if you
do not perform the upgrade. You can then install the product at a later time or on
a different machine. For example, TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.0 requires TIBCO
Administrator 2.0. Because the last released version of TIBCO Administrator is
1.1.2, you will be prompted whether you wish to upgrade.

Installing Earlier Product Versions

If you install TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.0 and its component products, and then
decide that you wish to install an earlier version of the product or component
product, you must uninstall the later product version before you can install the
earlier version. If you don’t, your Windows NT Start menu won’t work and other
problems result as well.

You cannot run both a TIBCO BusinessWorks 1.1.x and TIBCO BusinessWorks 2.x
engine on the same machine.

Installation on Windows Systems

This section discusses installation on Windows systems.

Prerequisites
The following is a list of prerequisites for installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on
Windows systems.
• Windows NT (with Service Pack 6) or Windows 2000 (with Service Pack 2)
• 700 MHz or greater processor
• 256 Mb or more memory
• Disk space: 250 MB to install, 150 MB after installation

See the TIBCO Adapter documentation for the adapter you have purchased for
information about specific requirements of that adapter.

If you intend to install the product on a network drive, you must change the user
in NT Services Configuration from Local System to a user that has permission to
access the networked drive.

Installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on Windows (New Installation)

This section discusses a new installation of TIBCO BusinessWorks. It assumes
TIBCO BusinessWorks was never installed on the machine, or a complete and
successful uninstallation was performed.

If you are upgrading TIBCO BusinessWorks, or reinstalling a clean version of the

software, you should not uninstall the software but let the installer take care of the
removal of the product during the installation. See Installing TIBCO
BusinessWorks on Windows (Upgrade or Reinstall) on page 10.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

Installation on Windows Systems 9
|

Installation Prerequisites
Before you start an upgrade installation, you must shut down the following
applications or services:
• TIBCO Designer: Stop TIBCO Designer.

The TIBCO BusinessWorks installer may be able to shut down the TRA and
TIBCO Microagent if they are not currently in use. The installer is not able to
detect design-time adapters, however. In that case, the installer cannot shut down
the associated TIBCO Rendezvous Daemon and installation fails until the process
has been stopped.

If you perform an upgrade and do not shut down TIBCO BusinessWorks process
engines and TIBCO adapters, they will continue to run under the 1.x version of
TIBCO Administrator. You must stop, redeploy, and restart them to have them
running under TIBCO Administrator 2.0.

Installation Procedure
You can either download the TIBCO BusinessWorks installation package or you
may install the components from a CD. To start installation, execute the
installation program by double clicking on the BW.exe file.
During installation, note these points:
• TIBCO Administration Component—You cannot install the TIBCO
BusinessWorks Administration Components on more than one machine in an
administration domain. After installing the Administration Components
once, make sure to uncheck this option when you install TIBCO
BusinessWorks on subsequent machines.
• TRA Installation—The installer will check whether you have a current
version of the TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) on your system. If there is no
current version, a TRA is installed. If the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon (rvd) is
currently running, the TRA install fails if it includes a different version of
TIBCO Rendezvous and you are asked to stop any rvd process(es). Bring up
the task manager and stop the process(es). The installer can then proceed with
installation.
• TIBCO Home—When you install TIBCO BusinessWorks (or one of its
components) for the first time, you may choose a TIBCO Home folder. The
folder name must not contain white spaces. You can accept the default choice
of C:\tibco, or you can choose a different location. In all subsequent
installations, the installer does not allow you to choose a different folder.

No white spaces are allowed for the name of the TIBCO Home directory.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

10 TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation
|

• TIBCO Administration Domain—Toward the end of the installation process,

the installer prompts whether you would like to join an existing
administration domain. Choose Yes to join, or create a new Administration
Domain. Note that your machine may belong to only one TIBCO
Administration Domain.
— When you create a new administration domain, choose a unique name so
you can later select your administration domain e.g., from TIBCO Designer.
Your administration domain name should differ from your network
domain name.
— If you are installing TIBCO Administrator, you are asked to specify a
username and password for the administrator account. This account will be
used to create users, and perform administrative functions on the
administration server itself. If you forget this name and password, you
cannot log into the TIBCO Administrator GUI and have to reinstall the
product.
• TIBCO Rendezvous parameters—The installation supplies the default values
for the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon, network, and service parameters. You
can change the value of these parameters, if you are familiar with TIBCO
Rendezvous and wish to use different values. Refer to the TIBCO Rendezvous
documentation for more information about these parameters.
• If you install the software for the first time, you will be prompted to reboot the
system before you start implementing your project.

Installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on Windows (Upgrade or Reinstall)

This section gives an overview of the upgrade or reinstall process. Upgrade refers
to an installation of a newer version, while reinstall refers to installation of the
same version. Reinstall is usually done because the software became corrupted.
Upgrade/Reinstall Prerequisites Before you start an installation, you must shut
down the following applications or services:
• Adapters: Shut down all adapters so that design-time adapter services stop
running
• TIBCO BusinessWorks: Stop all running process instances and undeploy all
deployed projects
• TIBCO Designer: Stop TIBCO Designer.
• TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) service and associated processes. This includes
shutting down all TIBCO Rendezvous Daemon instances. The TRA service
may have been started as part of an adapter installed on your system.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

Installation on Windows Systems 11
|

• TIBCO Microagent service

The TIBCO BusinessWorks installer may be able to shut down the TRA and
TIBCO Microagent if they are not currently in use. The installer is not able to
detect design-time adapters, however. In that case, the installer cannot shut down
the associated TIBCO Rendezvous Daemon and installation fails until the process
has been stopped.

Upgrade/Reinstall Procedure
You can either download the TIBCO BusinessWorks installation package or you
install the components from a CD.
1. To start installation, execute the installation program by double clicking the
BW.exe file.

2. After extracting the files, the installer first checks whether any of installation
components are already installed on the system. If only some components are
installed, the installer prompts you whether you’d like to add components or
upgrade/reinstall all components. Otherwise, adding components is not an
option.

If you install the TIBCO BusinessWorks Administration Components on more

than one machine in an administration domain, the domain cannot work
properly.

3. The installer then checks whether any of the components is running and
prompts you to shut down any running components.

The installer can only detect TIBCO BusinessWorks components. If other

TIBCO products are running, you must shut them down before you start the
installation.

4. If any of the files the installer wants to install are locked because they are in
use, the installer prompts you to shut down associated services and processes
and you cannot continue with the installation until you have done so.
5. The installer prompts you which TIBCO BusinessWorks components you
want to reinstall.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

12 TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation
|

6. After all selected components have been installed, the installer checks for
existing TIBCO Administration Domains and asks whether you want to join
it. You can click Yes or create a new domain.

If you choose to create a new domain, but then type in the name of the old
domain with new user name and password, the installer ignores that
information.

7. At the end of the installation process, the installer prompts whether you want
to view documentation. If you choose to do so, a web browser with the
complete documentation set, including the release notes, is launched on your
machine.

Installation on UNIX Systems

Prerequisites
• Sun SPARC running Solaris 7 or 8.
— Patches for Solaris 7: 107544-03 106980-17 106950-16 108376-33 106300-12
106327-11 106541-18 107081-40 107636-08 107226-18 108374-05 107656-07

109279-18 108921-13
Not tested on Solaris 2.6.
• HP-UX 11.0
• 300 Megabytes free disk space.
• A window system such as CDE (i.e. X Windows) is required for the installer
and the Designer GUI.

Permissions
To create the TIBCO Registry and set up the administration domain, the TIBCO
BusinessWorks installer must write to /etc/TIBCORegistry and to /opt/tibco.
You therefore have these choices for installation:
• Perform the installation as root. This is the easiest choice and therefore highly
recommended.
• Have your system administrator set up a user called tibuser with write
permissions to these directories:
/etc/TIBCORegistry
/opt/tibco

Subsequent installations can than be performed by tibuser.

• Have your system administrator give you privileges to the two directories.
This is not recommended because it makes upgrades or uninstallation more
difficult.

Installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on UNIX (New Installation)

This section discusses a new installation of TIBCO BusinessWorks. It assumes
TIBCO BusinessWorks was never installed on the machine, or a complete and
successful uninstallation was performed.

If you are reinstalling a clean version of the software, you should not uninstall the
software but let the installer take care of the removal of the product during the
installation. See Installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on UNIX (Reinstall) on page 15.

You can either download the TIBCO BusinessWorks installation package or you
may install the components from a CD.
1. Log in to the window system and start a command line window. These
instructions assume that a C-shell (csh) is being used in the command
window.
2. Locate and unpack the TIBCO BusinessWorks distribution file
TIB_BW-2.0.0.tar (at the shell prompt, shown here as %). Assuming that the
file is in the current directory
% tar -xvf TIB_BW-2.0.0.tar

The Tibinstall installer program is extracted into the current directory

along with a subdirectory named zip.
3. Run Tibinstall.
% ./Tibinstall

Tibinstall will open a window.

4. Respond to the prompts given by the GUI. Consider these points:
— TIBCO Administration Component—You can only install the TIBCO
BusinessWorks Administration Components on one machine in an
administration domain. After installing the Administration Components
once, make sure to uncheck this option when you install TIBCO
BusinessWorks on subsequent machines or the software cannot work
properly.
— TRA Installation—The installer will check whether you have a current
version of the TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) on your system. If there is no
current version, TRA is installed. If the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon (rvd)
is currently running, the install fails and you are asked to stop any rvd
process(es). Kill the processes. The installer can then proceed with
installation.
— TIBCO Home—When you install TIBCO BusinessWorks (or one of its
components) for the first time, you may choose a TIBCO Home directory.
You can accept the default choice of /opt/tibco, or you can choose a

different location. All subsequent TIBCO installations go to that directory,

and the user installing the product must have write permission for that
directory.
— TIBCO Administration Domain—Toward the end of the installation
process, you are asked if you would like to join an existing administration
domain if your machine has access to one. Choose Yes to join or create a
new administration domain. If you create a new administration domain,
your machine will belong only to that domain.
When you create a new administration domain, choose a unique name so
you can later select your administration domain e.g., from TIBCO Designer.
Your administration domain name should differ from your network
domain name.
If you are installing TIBCO Administrator, you are asked to specify a
username and password for the administrator account. This account will be
used to create users, and perform administrative functions on the
administration server itself. If you forget this name and password, you
cannot log into the TIBCO Administrator GUI and have to reinstall the
product.
— TIBCO Rendezvous parameters—The installation supplies the default
values for the TIBCO Rendezvous daemon, network, and service
parameters. You can change the value of these parameters, if you are
familiar with TIBCO Rendezvous and wish to use different values. Refer to
the TIBCO Rendezvous documentation for more information about these
parameters.

Installing TIBCO BusinessWorks on UNIX (Reinstall)

This section gives an overview of the upgrade or reinstall process. Upgrade refers
to an installation of a newer version, while reinstall refers to installation of the
same version. Reinstall is usually done because the software became corrupted.

Upgrade/Reinstall Prerequisites
Before you start an upgrade/reinstall procedure, you must shut down the
following applications or services:
• Design-time adapter processes
• TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) service and associated processes. This includes
shutting down all TIBCO Rendezvous Daemon instances.

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

|

• TIBCO Microagent

The TIBCO BusinessWorks installer may be able to shut down the TRA and
TIBCO Microagent if they are not currently in use. The installer is not able to
detect design-time adapters, however. In that case, the installer cannot shut down
the associated TIBCO Rendezvous Daemon and installation fails until the process
has been stopped.

If you perform a reinstall, and do not meet these prerequisites, the installer may
partially remove the software but not be able to reinstall it.

Reinstall Procedure
You can either download the TIBCO BusinessWorks installation package or install
the components from a CD.

4. The installer first checks whether any of installation components are already
installed on the system. If only some components are installed, the installer
prompts you whether you’d like to add components or reinstall all
components.

If you install the TIBCO BusinessWorks Administration Components on more

than one machine in an administration domain, the domain cannot work
properly.

|

5. The installer then checks whether any of the components is running and
prompts you to shut down any running components.

The installer can only detect TIBCO BusinessWorks components. If other

TIBCO products are running, you must shut them down before you start the
installation.

6. The installer shuts down any services and processes associated with TIBCO
BusinessWorks components and proceeds with the upgrade or reinstall. If any
of the files the installer wants to install are locked because they are in use, the
installer prompts you to shut down associated services and processes and you
cannot continue with the installation until you have done so.
7. The installer prompts you which TIBCO BusinessWorks components you
want to reinstall.
8. After all selected components have been installed, the installer checks for
existing TIBCO Administration Domains and asks whether you want to join
it. You can click Yes or create a new domain.

If you choose to create a new domain, but then type in the name of the old
domain with new user name and password, the installer ignores that
information.

9. At the end of the installation process, the installer prompts whether you want
to view documentation. If you choose to do so, a web browser with the
complete documentation set, including the release notes, is launched on your
machine.

Post-Installation Tasks

Setting Environment Variables

Certain environment variable settings are required for running TIBCO
BusinessWorks. Each TIBCO product or product component contains a
setenv.sh file which you must execute before using the product. The setenv.sh
file adds information about the product component to the following environment
variables on UNIX platforms:
PATH
SHLIB_PATH (HP-UX)
LD_LIBRARY_PATH (Solaris)
LIBPATH (AIX)
LIBPATH (HP-UX)
LD_RUN_PATH (Linux)

For example, before using TIBCO Designer, you must run the setenv.sh script in
$TIBCO_HOME/designer/4.1. Before using an adapter, you must run the
setenv.sh script in that adapter’s top-level folder.

Permission Requirements
All TIBCO BusinessWorks users must have read, write, and execute permissions
for the following directories:

$TIBCO_HOME/bw/2.0/bin
$TIBCO_HOME/bw/2.0/bin/logs
$TIBCO_HOME/tra/2.0/logs

For example, if TIBCO BusinessWorks has been installed in /opt/tibco, the user
who installed BusinessWorks can should these directories writable for all other
users by executing the following commands:
% chmod a+w /opt/tibco/bw/2.0/bin/
% chmod a+w /opt/tibco/bw/2.0/bin/logs
% chmod a+w /opt/tibco/tra/1.0/logs

In addition, the palettes directory ($TIBCO_HOME/bw/2.0/lib/palettes) must

writable by all users who will use TIBCO Designer. Users must have write
permission for this directory to be able to use the Java activity's Compile button.
Alternatively, change the Java activity's compilation directory by changing
the value of java.property.javaCode in the .tra file that is used to start TIBCO
BusinessWorks (designer.tra for the TIBCO Designer GUI or the appropriate
.tra file for the engine if running from a deployment).

Running TIBCO BusinessWorks under UNIX

This section gives an overview to running the different TIBCO BusinessWorks

components under UNIX.

Running the TIBCO Administration Server

Automatic boot scripts should be used for to starting the agents and the TIBCO
Administration Server. The boot scripts will start the agents and Administration
Server automatically every time the system is rebooted. Example boot scripts are
included in the $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts directory. The scripts
are:
initTRA Starts the tibhawkhma and tra agents.

initTIBCOAdmin Starts the Administration Server.

These scripts can be called directly from the command line to start and stop the
agents and Administration Server, but they are meant to be called by your system
startup scripts.

Calling Boot Scripts from the Command Line

To start the agents and Administration Server from the command line using the
boot scripts, invoke them with the start parameter (assuming that $TIBCO_HOME
is the directory in which TIBCO BusinessWorks was installed, i.e. /opt/tibco):
% cd $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts
% ./initTRA start
% ./initTIBCOAdmin start

To shut down the agents and Administration Server, invoke the scripts with the
stop parameter, as follows:
% ./initTRA stop # stops the tibhawkhma and tra agents
% ./initTIBCOAdmin stop # stops the Administration Server

Installing Boot Scripts for Automatic Startup

To install the boot scripts so that they will be called by your system startup
scripts, follow the directions below. Root user permissions are required to
perform these steps, so log in as the root first.

Solaris Perform the following steps:

1. Copy the initTRA and initTIBCOAdmin files as follows:

TIBCO BusinessWorks Installation

|
cp $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTRA /etc/init.d
cp $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTIBCOAdmin /etc/init.d

2. Create symbolic links as follows:

ln -s /etc/init.d/initTRA /etc/rc2d.d/S11tibcotra
ln -s /etc/init.d/initTIBCOAdmin /etc/rc2.d/S11tibcoadmin

3. For shutdown, create symbolic links as follows:

ln -s /etc/init.d/initTRA /etc/rc1.d/K11tibcotra
ln -s /etc/init.d/initTIBCOAdmin /etc/rc1.d/K11tibcoadmin

HP-UX Perform the following steps:

1. Copy the intTRA and initTIBCOAdmin files as follows:
cp $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTRA /sbin/init.d
cp $TIBCO_HOME/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTIBCOAdmin /sbin/init.d

2. Create symbolic links as follows:

ln -s /sbin/init.d/initTRA /sbin/rc2.d/S900tibcotra
ln -s /sbin/init.d/initTIBCOAdmin /sbin/rc2.d/S900tibcoadmin

3. For shut down, create symbolic links as follows:

ln -s /sbin/init.d/initTRA /sbin/rc1.d/K199tibcotra
ln -s /sbin/init.d/initTIBCOAdmin /sbin/rc1.d/K199tibcoadmin

AIX Add the following two lines to the /etc/inittab file:

tibcotra:2:once:<TIBCO Installation Directory>/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTRA
tibcoadmin:2:once:<TIBCO Installation Directory>/tra/1.0/tools/rcscripts/initTIBCOAdmin

Running the Server Explicitly

Using the boot scripts is recommended. You can, however, start the TIBCO
Administration Server explicitly. Follow these steps:
1. Start the TIBCO Hawk Microagent.
% /opt/tibco/tra/1.0/bin/tibhawkma&

2. Start the TIBCO Runtime Agent (TRA) using its property file.
% /opt/tibco/tra/1.0/bin/tra --propFile /opt/tibco/tra/1.0/bin/tra.tra&

On AIX systems, if you are using an adapter in conjunction with TIBCO

BusinessWorks, you must run the .csh the system created for that adapter before
you invoke the TRA. See the TIBCO BusinessWorks Release Notes for TIBCO
BusinessWorks version 1.1.2 for additional information.

3. Start the TIBCO Administration Server using its property file (the command
should be in one line).
