Assigning (0.35) for the cracked walls and cracked columns to decrease the stresses which developed in the
element due to the bending and Axial forces (f11,f22,f12,m11,m22 & m12).
These high stresses are usually developed in the locations of high deformations such as columns and walls
segment above the transfer elements directly.
when you assign the modifiers to the above value , the developed stresses shall be less than the modulus of
rupture.
Modulus of rupture is evaluated in flexure test as a function of compressive strength. General expression for
modulus of rupture is given as:
Modulus of rupture (fr) = C * sqrt(fc')
o
o
o
o
where C is a constant that takes a value between 7.5 and 12 if (fc') is expressed in psi, and between 0.62 to 0.99
if (fc') is expressed in MPa, respectively (ACI, 2010). These expressions provide good agreement with
experimental data upto strength of 100 MPa, but often underestimate the values for higher strength.

For columns assign 0.70 stiff modifier ratio on moments around 2 and 3 axis due to tension of longitudinal
buckling on two direction.
For concrete walls assign of 0.7 stiff modify ratio on f22 , because on shell elements membrane stress causes to
moment and axial force and by this act (decrease of membrane stress similar to f22), affect on moment and axial
force.
