EXECUTIVE!SUMMARY!
!
The!event!was!attended!by!approximately!100!representatives!from!a!wide!variety!of!entities!around!
the!region!and!guests!were!eager!to!participate!in!the!conversation.!Despite!the!varying!sectors!and!
geographic!entities!represented,!there!was!firm!agreement!that!the!Northern!Virginia!region!needed!a!
clear,!strong!brand!and!the!brand!should!be!actively!promoted.!There!was!also!consensus!that!a!single,!
inclusive,!cooperative!entity!should!manage!the!brand!promotion!and!marketing!or!the!effort!would!not!
be!sustainable.!!
!
Additionally,!there!was!agreement!that!all!of!the!sectors!and!geographic!entities!must!work!
collaboratively!to!resolve!the!issues!facing!the!region.!Without!collaboration,!the!most!difficult!issues,!
such!as!affordable!housing,!education!and!transportation,!cannot!be!solved.!
!
A!summary!of!the!top!recommendations!includes:!

Partner!with!the!state!through!Go!Virginia,!serving!also!as!a!regional!hub!for!the!rest!of!the!state!
and!the!rest!of!the!country.!
Using!the!existing!model!of!the!Northern!VA!Regional!Commission,!but!include!education!and!
