Genesis 1 & 2:1-4 - Creation of the heavens and earth
1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array. 2 By
the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the
seventh day he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day
and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he
had done. 4 This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were
created.
Genesis 2:8 & 3:8 - We see garden paradise (Eden) where man dwells with
God
2:8 Now the LORD God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there
he put the man he had formed.
3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was
walking in the garden in the cool of the day...
Genesis 2:4-6 - Water (or as some trans “mist”) comes out of the ground and
gives all of life drink
2:5 and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the
field had yet sprung up, for the LORD God had not sent rain on the earth [b]
and there was no man to work the ground, 6 but streams came up from the
earth and watered the whole surface of the ground-
Genesis 2:10-14 - There is a river that waters the garden and flows to the four
corners of the world
2:10 A river watering the garden flowed from Eden; from there it was separated
into four headwaters. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through
the entire land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good;
pearls and onyx are also there.) 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon;
it winds through the entire land of Cush. 14 The name of the third river is the
Tigris; it runs along the east side of Asshur. And the fourth river is the
Euphrates.
Paradise Restored
Revelation 21:1 - Creation of a “new “heavens and “new” earth
21:1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the
first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
Revelation 22:2-3 - There is a city paradise - the New Jerusalem (Jerusalem
means “city of peace” in Hebrew) where God dwells with man
22:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a
loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and
he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them
and be their God.
Revelation 21:6 - Christ has that water (spring or fountain) that gives drink to
the thirsty
21:6 He said to me: "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning
and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the
spring of the water of life.
Revelation 22:1-2 - There is a river that flows from the throne of God and
waters the city which restores life to the whole world
22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great
street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve
crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the
healing of the nations.
Genesis 2:11 - In paradise there are riches (gold and precious stones) to be
found
2:11 The name of the first is the Pishon; it winds through the entire land of
Havilah, where there is gold. 12 (The gold of that land is good; pearls and onyx
are also there.)
Genesis 2:9 - The tree of life in the garden
2:9 And the LORD God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees
that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. In the middle of the garden
were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
Genesis 3:22-24 - Because of sin man is then barred from the tree
3:22 And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us,
knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take
also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever." 23 So the LORD God
banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had
been taken. 24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the
Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard
the way to the tree of life.
Genesis 2:20-22 - We see a groom and bride (Adam and Eve)
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. 21 So the LORD God caused the
man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the
man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. 22 Then the LORD God made a
woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the
man. 23 The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called 'woman, 'for she was taken out of man."
Revelation 21:18-21 - There is better riches (pure gold) and more precious
stones is in the paradise city (there is so much the city is made from them)
21:18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass.
19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious
stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third
chalcedony, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth sardonyx, the sixth carnelian, the
seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the
eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. 21The twelve gates were twelve
pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of
pure gold, like transparent glass.
Revelation 22:1-2 - Redeemed men are once again able to eat freely of tree of
life and it serves as medicine for healing
22:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal,
flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great
street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve
crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the
healing of the nations.
Revelation 21:2 - Groom and bride (The Lamb & Jerusalem)
21:2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from
God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
21:9 "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." 10 And he carried
me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy
City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the
glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a
jasper, clear as crystal.
Genesis 3:1 - In paradise we see “the deceiver” who deceives the mother of all
mankind
3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD
God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat
from any tree in the garden'?"
Genesis 3:17 - Curse pronounced on man because of his sin and disobedience
3:17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree
about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' "Cursed is the ground
because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.
Genesis 3:24 - Because of sin man is banished from paradise there is a gate or
entrance that bars all men from the garden paradise - (a cherubim)
3:24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of
Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to
the tree of life.
Genesis 2:17 - Death is introduced
2:17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for
when you eat of it you will surely die."
Revelation 20:10 - “The deceiver” who deceived the nations is destroyed
20:10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning
sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be
tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 21:4 & 22:3 - Curse removed
21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
22:3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will
be in the city, and his servants will serve him.
Revelation 21:26-28 & 22:14-15 - The gates bar only the wicked and
unrepentant sinners from the city paradise - but are open to the righteous and
redeemed
21:26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing
impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful,
but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
22:14 "Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to
the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the
dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the
idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Revelation 21:4 - Death destroyed
21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
God creates light and separates it from darkness - Genesis 1:3-5
2:3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the
light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the
light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and
there was morning—the first day.
In Genesis there is “a serpent” who introduces sin into the world by deceit and
temptation - contrasted -to
Revelation 21:23 - Light not necessary God is the light
21:23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of
God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.
Revelation 21:25 & 22:5 - And there is no more darkness (Darkness is an
allusion to evil)
21:25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.
22:5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the
light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever
and ever.
“the Lamb” in Revelation who takes away sin in the world by truth and death on
a cross .
