SUMMARY
In this study, a regression model was constructed with the "R" statistical package
and 8 linear and non-linear models were adjusted to provide a table of volume (m3)
of Pinus pseudostrobus Lindl. area under management Clavellinas Santiago,
Zimatln Alvarez, Oaxaca. The methodology consisted in selecting 5 trees by
diameter class from 5-105 cm in diameter; Data were obtained from 249 sampling
sites within the 1,000 m2 area under management totaling 100 data for adjusting
the regression models. The results showed that the constructed model presented
better adjustment than the other models, wherein the diameter (cm) and height
(m), are properly adjusted to predict the full bole volume (m3). The regression
analysis R = 0.99 which indicates that the regressor variables explained the total
variability of the model by 99% was obtained. The assumptions of the random part
of the model evidence that the variance in the residuals is held constant, not
normal problems (P = .5609) or had to serial correlation in the errors (P = 0.2002).
The results of model validation indicated that the adjusted model is stable since the
prediction error resulted in 0.010, this results in making predictions quite
accurately. By comparing the generated model with 8 models (linear and nonlinear)
preset, evidence he had that in many cases there is no care to check the normality
of the data, which results in a bad prediction volumes (m3) and thus an
overestimation of forest resources.
