About this Supplement
This supplement to the ADU Users Reference Manual describes the differences
between the ADU with and without neutral color coding. The supplement
applies to the Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Anesthesia Delivery Unit (ADU) and AS/3
ADU from S/N: 40 000 000 and above. In this supplement, both the S/5 ADU
and the AS/3 ADU will be referred to as ADU.
This supplement is not intended to give a complete and detailed description of
all functions to the operator, such description will be found in the ADU Users
Reference Manual.

Neutral color coding of medical gases and connections

Whereas the majority of countries within Europe apply ISO 32 for color coding
of medical gases and connection systems, some countries, for example
Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, have been using country-specific color
coding. In order to harmonize the situation among member countries it has
been agreed that as of July 1, 2006, only color coding according to ISO 32 shall
be applied throughout EU. During the transitional period, countries using a
different color coding system are recommending the use of "neutral color
coding". Datex-Ohmeda has decided to use the color black as "neutral color".
It should also be pointed out that according to applicable safety standards
color coding of gases and connection systems is always optional, only the gas
name or chemical symbol is mandated.

Front of ADU
On the front of the Anesthesia Delivery Unit, the fresh gas flow controls, the
pressure gauges and the O2 flush have neutral color coding. On the ADU display
the gases are presented in neutral color in the fresh gas field.
NOTE: On the fresh gas flow controls and the pressure gauges the English word
Air is used as a symbol for air. When presented in the fresh gas field on the
display the translated term is used.

Neutral color coding is used on the auxiliary outlet connectors (O2/Air/

Vacuum), as well as on the labels beside the outlets.

The type and the number of cylinder yokes can vary.

NOTE: On labels the English word Air is used as a symbol for air and the

Ce supplment au mode demploi de lADU dcrit les diffrences entre lADU avec
et sans codage couleur neutre. Ce supplment sapplique la station danesthsie
(ADU) S/5 Datex-Ohmeda et lADU AS/3 partir du numro de srie (S/N) :
40 000 000 et suprieur. Dans ce supplment, les deux modles lADU S/5 et
lADU AS/3 seront dsigns par ADU.
Ce supplment na pas pour objet de fournir l'oprateur une description
complte et dtaille de toutes les fonctions ; pour ces descriptions, consulter le

Codage couleur neutre des gaz mdicaux et des connexions

Alors que la plupart des pays europens appliquent la norme ISO 32 pour le
codage couleurs des gaz mdicaux et des systmes de connexion, certains pays
comme lAllemagne, lAutriche et la Suisse utilisent un codage couleurs spcifique
chaque pays. Dans un souci dharmonisation entre les pays membres, il a t
convenu qu partir du 1er juillet 2006, seul le codage couleurs selon la norme
ISO 32 sera appliqu dans la totalit de lUnion Europenne. Pendant la priode
de transition, les pays utilisant un codage couleurs diffrent recommandent
lutilisation dun codage couleur neutre . Datex-Ohmeda a dcid dutiliser la
couleur noire comme couleur neutre . Il convient en outre de signaler que
conformment aux normes de scurit en vigueur, le codage couleurs des gaz et
systmes de connexion est optionnel, seule le marquage du nom ou du symbole
chimique du gaz tant obligatoire.

In der vorliegenden Ergnzung zum ADU Referenzhandbuch werden die Unterschiede zwischen dem ADU Ansthesiesystem mit neutraler Farbkodierung und
dem ADU Ansthesiesystem ohne neutrale Farbkodierung beschrieben. Die
Ergnzung gilt fr die ADU Ansthesiesysteme S/5 und AS/3 von Datex-Ohmeda
mit einer Seriennummer ab 40 000 000. Beide ADU Ansthesiesysteme werden
nachstehend als ADU bezeichnet.
Die vorliegende Ergnzung bietet dem Anwender keine vollstndigen und
detaillierten Beschreibungen aller Funktionen. Diese sind dem ADU-Referenzhandbuch zu entnehmen.

Neutrale Farbkodierung von medizinischen Gasen und

Anschlssen
In den meisten europischen Lndern werden medizinische Gase und Anschlusssysteme gem ISO 32 farblich kodiert. Manche Lnder jedoch, beispielsweise
Deutschland, sterreich und die Schweiz, verwenden eine lnderspezifische
Farbkodierung. Um eine Angleichung zwischen den Mitgliedsstaaten zu erzielen,
wurde beschlossen, dass ab dem 1. Juli 2006 in allen EU-Lndern nur noch eine
Farbkodierung gem ISO 32 verwendet wird.
Whrend der bergangszeit wird in Lndern, die ein unterschiedliches
Farbkodierungssystem, der Einsatz der neutralen Farbkodierung empfohlen.
Datex-Ohmeda hat sich fr die Farbe Schwarz als neutrale Farbe entschieden.
Es ist auch zu beachten, dass gem anwendbarer Sicherheitsstandards die
Farbkodierung von Gasen und Anschlusssystemen immer optional ist nur die
Bezeichnung des Gases bzw. das chemische Symbol ist obligatorisch.

Vorderseite des ADU
An der Frontseite des ADU Ansthesiesystems sind die Frischgas-Flow-Regler, die
Druckmanometer und die Taste O2-Flush farblich neutral kodiert. Auf dem ADUBildschirm werden die Gase farbneutral im Frischgasfeld dargestellt.
HINWEIS: Auf den Frischgas-Flow-Reglern und Druckmanometern steht das englische
Wort Air als Bezeichnung fr Luft. Im Frischgasfeld auf dem Bildschirm erscheint der
bersetzte Begriff.

In questo supplemento al Manuale d'uso ADU vengono descritte le differenze tra
l'ADU con o senza codifica a colori neutri. Il supplemento si applica al sistema per
anestesia Datex-Ohmeda S/5 Anesthesia Delivery Unit (ADU) e AS/3 ADU da S/N:
40 000 000 e superiore. In questo supplemento, sia l'S/5 ADU che l'AS/3 ADU
verranno chiamati ADU.
Lo scopo di questo supplemento non di fornire una descrizione completa e
dettagliata di tutte le funzioni, in quanto tali descrizioni sono disponibili nel
Manuale d'uso ADU.

Codifica a colori neutri dei gas medicali e delle connessioni

La maggior parte dei Paesi europei applica le normative ISO 32 per la codifica a
colori dei gas medicali e dei sistemi di connessione, mentre, alcuni Paesi, come
Germania, Austria e Svizzera, utilizzano codifiche a colori specifiche dei rispettivi
Paesi. Per armonizzare la situazione tra i Paesi membri, stato deciso che, a
partire dal 1 luglio 2006, verr applicata solo la codifica a colori in base alla
normativa ISO 32 in tutti i Paesi dell'Unione Europea. Nel periodo di transizione, i
Paesi che utilizzano un sistema differente di codifica a colori raccomandano di
utilizzare la "codifica a colori neutri". Datex-Ohmeda ha deciso di utilizzare il nero
come "colore neutro". Inoltre, necessario puntualizzare che, secondo gli
standard di sicurezza applicabili, la codifica a colori dei gas e dei sistemi di
connessione sempre facoltativa, obbligatorio solo il nome o il simbolo chimico
dei gas.

Lato anteriore del sistema ADU
Sul lato anteriore del sistema per anestesia ADU, i comandi del flusso dei gas
freschi, i manometri e il flusso di O2+ sono stati codificati con colori neutri. Sullo
schermo dell'ADU, i gas vengono visualizzati con colori neutri nel campo gas
freschi.
NOTA: nei comandi del flusso dei gas freschi e nei manometri, viene utilizzata la parola
inglese "air" come simbolo dell'aria, mentre nel campo gas freschi si utilizza il termine
italiano.
