This Week

During shared reading this week, we

wrapped up our time with fairy tales! It has
been so much fun reading these classic
stories. Weve discussed characters,
settings, problems and solutions and
comparing and contrasting different
versions. Our fairy tales this week were:
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Little Red Riding Hood
Hansel and Gretel
The Frog Prince
Rapunzel
For theme, weve been learning all about
community helpers! Each day we read
about a new community helper and then
made a web listing the tools they would use
in their profession. We ended the week
discussing what we want to be when we
grow up! We will have a bulletin board in
our classroom with what the children chose
that stays up all year long!
We are officially FINISHED with kindergarten
checklist assessment! This is a major feat! I
cant wait to share their progress with you
during our conferences in the coming
weeks!

Next Week

Theme:
We will begin reading FUN and FICTION
stories about the FARM! I am so excited to
dive into this theme! This will help us get a
better idea of what a farm is, what we
want to learn about, etc.
Shared Reading:
We will be focusing on beginning sounds
during shared reading next week!
Shared Journal:
Many of our friends are still struggling on
pictures in our journal. We started writing
during the last couple of weeks in
September because the time spent
focusing on pictures only, wasnt
beneficial. So, next week, we are going to
be trying something new! We will share
and write Monday-Thursday, and on Friday
we will dedicate that time to directed
drawing experiences! These will come
home each Friday for you to see! Please
encourage your child to take their time
and illustrate their journal like a REAL
BOOK, because it will be bound into a
book at the end of the year!

Dates to Remember

October 6th: PTO Meeting at 6:00

weeks AR GOAL! We are
so proud of them!
We began our week by making
homemade applesauce as a
culminating activity for apples!
The kids LOVED it!

Mrs. Linda came to read to us

this week (on Monday)! I cant
brag enough on her lessons she
teaches us! This week it was a
lesson on love, kindness and
generosity as we learned about
Johnny Appleseed!

August and
September
Journals
Jakarii and Bryn

Have a
WONDERFUL
weekend!
With my best,
Meaghan
Kimbrell

In your childs backpack you will find your

August/September journal! Please look
over it with your child this weekend and

return it on Monday!
If you do not return it, I cannot send home
your childs journal each month, and you do
NOT want to miss it! When you send it
back, I file it in the 2 inch binder you
purchased for school supplies, and you
have a wonderful keepsake at the end of
the year!
Please encourage those pictures (full page,
lots of details, etc.)! And remember, we
only began writing the last few days of the
month! The rest of our journal time was
focused on pictures only. J
