II. Partners
The ALF supports only multilateral projects based on a minimum 1 + 1 partnership formula. For more
information see the Guidelines, article D.6 Partnerships.
The partnership with other organisations/institutions in other countries is a very important element in ALF granted projects. Previous
projects granted by the ALF proved the need for the partners to know each other well and tp have previous experience of working together. It
is also very important to define together your different roles and responsibilities in each step of the project from the conception, the fund
raising, the preparation, the running of activities and their visibility, to the evaluation and reporting. It is therefore not recommended to find
a partner at the last minute, especially if you only know this organisation/institution through a call for partners.

Partners do not have to be members of the ALF Networks.

The project should involve at least one partner in addition to the leader applying for the project. This partner should be from the
other side of the Mediterranean than the leader.

There is no limits in the number of partners.

There is no need to have the same number of partners between the European countries and the countries of the Southern shore of
the Mediterranean

Each partner listed below must sign and stamp a partnership statement that the applying organisation has to submit with the
application (see Annex L Partnership Agreement Template).

3.4 Total duration of the project:
11.0 months

3.7 Needs assessment:
Youth, the main target group, are less possessed by prejudices. Wars, poverty and violence brought people
from one country to others and from south to north. Euro med societies are treated by fears, prejudices
and misunderstanding of the one group for the other. It is important to provide to youth opportunities to
explore the world of others through cultural creation using the appealing language of images. A creation
by young people is easily understandable by the youth and older people. The implementation of the
program will achieve influencing the public opinion; promote the values of democracy and the respect for
diversity. Intercultural dialogue will be reflected in our objectives that will have multiple recipients
through public screenings across the region and via Web. Without this program the visual communication
among the different groups will be let in the influence of main stream media which are based in
stereotypes.

3.8 What is the overall Aim of the project?:

To develop channels of communication between the different groups. The change is the creation of the
space of sharing between all the different communities. The project will contribute in achieving with a
cultural eventpublic screenings- hosted in 5 cities. The audience will consist an electoral body to select
the best film voted like in Eurovision: the locals vote only for the foreign films. The stars are the youths
using the most persuasive language: images from the real life of the others.

3.12 How will the concerned national ALF networks benefit from this project?:
Each one of the final products of the activity (the 10 short films) is an attitude and a result for an
intercultural dialogue because Youths are exploring the real life of another social/religious/refuges
minorities/ethnic communities etc. The stories of the short films have a high degree of similarity with the
social situation in the majority of the countries where ALF networks is acting. For these purposes either as
a tool for further exploitation, either as a best practise the project could contribute to the ALF 4-G
strategy. The DVD of the 10 films will be available for delivery to any member of ALF national network in
the countries of the project which would like to organise public screenings or classrooms viewing. With
the transfer of the know-how and the methodology to the NGOs of the partnership the project will
contribute to the empowerment of these NGOs in order to be able to organise similar activities in a larger
scale in their countries. National ALF networks could propose to the public or private institute of
education to adopt the educational procedure of the project in a large framework.

3.16 Project Originality and Innovation
Is it the first project of its kind or does it take place regularly?:
First time
Please specify:

The originality and the innovation of the project based on the role of Youths as explorers and amateur
filmmakers of the life of the others. They will act as ambassadors of their own group.
It will be the first time for all the youth participants to approach the reality of their society as a miniature
of the region where 3 religious exist and the movements of the population has created a mosaic of
multicultural and multinational societies. The innovation of the project comes from a networking of
dialogue and of cultural exchanges which will be developed. The viewers of the films will be part of this
network as they will vote their favourite films with the Eurovision Contest technique
3.17 How has the project been developed and planned in your organisation and with your
partners?:
The leader and the partners came in a dialogue with conferences and exchange of mails to evaluate prior
experience and to add innovate aspects in the current project. After the success of the program The
unknown Life which had been developed and implemented with 12 Youths from Greece and 12 from
Germany and its significant impact both in Greece and Germany we came in the conclusion that Youths
are the best ambassadors for transnational and intercultural dialogue and the best promoters on how the
diversity between nations could be a channel of communication and not a topic of debate. The partners
provided their knowledge for the assessment of the needs of intercultural dialogue, of understanding
diversity and of spread the democratic values among the population in their countries. Taking in account
this experience, we developed the program with two aims: a) to transfer the know how in the NGOS
partners: Association House of Culture and Art/Morocco, Young Palestinian Filmmakers
Society/Palestine, Aditus/Malta and institution of artists/Algeria with the initial training seminar in order
to create a multiply force of educators. b) to organise with the partners local training workshops with
Youth participants coming from a variety of origin-national, religious, cultural. We planned with each
partner the specific time table of the activity in each country/city. We choose the appropriate methods to
reach the target group in each region according to different circumstances.
3.18. List in chronological order the different activities foreseen throughout the project
including preparatory and evaluation activities. These activities MUST exist within the

IV Impact and Risks

4.1 How will you evaluate the project?:
For the evaluation of the project the leader and the partners will use the tools:
1. Questionnaires after the seminar in Athens. Persons involved: 5 representatives from each
organization-partner in the activity. Time September: 2013. They will evaluate the offered training, the
tutors, the educational material and the taught methodology
2.Questionnaires before and after the workshops with the youths. Persons involved: The participants in
the 5 workshops
Time table: November 2013-January 2014. Each participant will answer what were his /her expectations
for the activity had what were their developed skills.
3.Questionnaires for the offered knowledge about the situation of the refugees in the region.
Persons involved: All the participants, Time June: 2014
4.Questionnaires for the offered knowledge about the Christian and the Muslim world in the
region.Persons involved: The Christians and the Muslims participants in two separate Questionnaires.
5.Follow up Interviews. Persons involved: The youth who made the short films. Time table: July 2014.
6.Suggestion boxes. Persons involved: The viewers of the public screenings. Time table June: July 2014.
The leader will use all the available statistics tools for the viewership of the films in You Tube and for the
impact of the FB page.
7.Analysis of the votes of the audience in the public screenings. Viewers are called to select their favorite
film with the exception of which will be made by participants from their country.
4.2. What is the expected Impact and Sustainability of the project?:
Public screenings and discussions for the films will take place after the end of the program in other places
than the ones of the final events of the project. These events will multiply the effect in the targeted groups
and in the large scale of the societies. Thanks to the nature of the outcomes (films) and the chosen media
for distribution (You Tube and social media)-the continuity of the impact has been foreseen. For this
purpose and before the project ends we will encourage viewers and followers in social media to upload

their similar stories-texts or videos. The spaces of dialogue and the upraised networking among the
participants will also add possibilities for a sustainable impact of the project.
With the empowerment of the NGOs by the training of their H.R. and by transferring the know how to
encourage and train young people to make amateur films, we will achieve to have a multiplying factor in
each region. Also the participants themselves which will make the films and their families will act as
promoters of the initiative in their social environment. Furthermore by the delivery of the outcomes in the
ALF national networks we plan to influence the policy makers and the relevant authorities in each country
to adopt similar practices. For the follow-up the impact in long term the leader has planned to submit the
films in local, regional and international Youth Film Festivals and to keep alive the network of the
participants.
4.3. What are the main risks that can negatively affect the implementation of the project,
and how will you manage those risks?:
A.For the funding: if the Greek Ministry will not be able to confirm its financial contribution we have
prepared 2 alternatives: 1. The Municipality of Athens. 2. History Doc itself. B. Associates for the visa
issues in the Arab countries are the Embassies of Greece in each country. In our past activities we solved
similar problems thanks to this support. C. Main risks come from the political situation in the Arab
region. For the Palestinian partner we have already made an agreement with a non for profit organization
in Israel, the CoPro who has access in similar ethnics and religious groups. If problems will occurred in
Algeria and Morocco we have chosen substitutes partners in Egypt, Tunis, Turkey and Cyprus.
