Major Functions
Under the guidance of the Communications leads:

Provide support to WWFs Africa intention to present Earth Hour (EH) stories to
global media, digital innovation and best use of assets like websites and social
media pages, corporate partnerships, fundraising case studies etc. to inspire
integrated campaigning across the continent
Provide administrative support for WWF Africa Offices collaborated approach to
stakeholder relations around EH participating organizations public nongovernmental and private sector agencies
Provide support for WWFs media work around EH thematic campaigns and issue
management to build visibility and create awareness among Africa audiences. This
will include the development of press packs, content for websites and triggering
interest through social media, and provide the WWF network with regular updates.
Major Duties and Responsibilities

Support WWF Africa EH management through provision of communications


materials, updates, etc presenting WWFs work across Africa and specific thematic
and programme successes;
Support the achievement of WWF Africa EH communications priorities through
development of a calendar for Africa, identifying important platforms and events, as
well as successes that can be used to build EH profile on the continent;
Develops links with all WWF communications staff across Africa, and organises
regular (monthly) progress updates;
Assist Africa communicators to develop and strengthen working relations with in
country partners and media to increase the success of the campaigns;
Provide support for the maintenance of the WWF Africa Office website, ensure
regular updates, and assist with WWFs social media presence: Twitter, Facebook,
Flickr etc. around EH imperatives;
Assist develop compelling content around EH activities and campaigns in line with
the work plan;
Other activities as defined by the WWF Africa Office management team.

Profile

Required Qualifications

Tertiary level education in Business or Public Management, Communications, Media


or related field with experience in a similar position in an international
organization/company;
Proven experience and track records in writing for development/conservation; web
maintenance and writing; efficient use of social media in southern contexts.

Required Skills and Competencies

Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, and ideally French;
Interest and ability in video production and/or photography as well as in graphic
design;
Computer literacy;
Keen interest and passion for conservation/environmental issues;
Cultural adaptability and sensitivity;
Working knowledge of WWF Network, especially WWF in Africa;
Adhere to WWFs values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.

Working Relationships

Internal: Interacts and works closely work closely with other countries communications
officers, thematic regional Coordinators, Country Directors and other conservation staff in
Central Africa, under the supervision of WWFs Africa Office management. Liaises with
colleagues across the WWF Network working in communications.
External: Interacts as required with media and bespoke partners and audiences.

This job description covers the main tasks and conveys the spirit of the sort of tasks that

according to organizational needs.
